She had arrived at the city not too long ago, and even as the scientists began to speak to her before dropping her off, she was.. Hollow. The girl swayed back and forth on her feet, eyes set dead ahead of her at a building and a few people ran off in surprise at her haunting gaze.
Where was she? Someone told her, she just couldn’t remember. A whisper caught in her throat before a stream of muffled chants escaped her lips, state set ahead.
------ SOME INSTINCT, whether he was merely imagining it or not, told him to swing by the place where he’d come out into the city a few weeks back. He wasn’t looking out for any new arrivals in particular, but as he rounded the corner, he caught sight of a young girl, standing there and... well, doing nothing. He swung around in front of her, staring intently at her face and observing her nonreactiveness.
“Demoiseeeeelle?” he said, slightly sing-song, and waved a hand in front of her face to try and get her attention. Those mumbles sounded vaguely creepy and were doing him a frighten.
THIS IS a permanent starter call post for interactions with Vanitas. Though starters written from this post will be slow, there is no cap. I am always available to plot ( though once again, I may be slow ) through IMs, so if you would like to establish a solid ground before getting a starter, you can do so in that way if you would like. So, if you would like a starter from Vanitas ( ranging from one paragraph to several ), then feel free to like this post!
i’m really amused that in the latest chapter vanitas was being ridiculous and then noe is just over in the corner of the page like
“What in the bloody ‘ell are you doing!?” The troll takes a moment to snort up the blood that had dripped from his nose, wiping away the excess blood to none avail.
“I’m not one of those zombie fellows over there! Stop trying to hurt me!”
@vespeire
------ “Oh?”
He stays in the same position for a moment, with his hand up and ready to smack someone, but after the other man’s words register, he lowers his fist. For a moment, he seems to be contemplating, but then a wide grin takes over his face. “Well then, that seems like it’s my mistake, monsieur! Would you happen to know why, perchance, the ‘zombie fellows’ are here at all?”
A voice. An unknown voice, and Zelnite had failed to realize their presence. Keeping silent for just a few moments so the Jewel Ghost could hide, Zelnite looks behind him for just a moment. A look of confusion and slight disbelief, he thought, and mentally sighed; he could play it off, or he could own up to revealing his friend’s existence. Though that alone was risky.
“No, actually!” he said after a bit of silence. “Just talking to myself, so I wouldn’t fret about those I care about!”
------ “Hmmmm, is that so?” Vanitas says, one hand resting at his chin and the other one propping it up with an affected daintiness. Something about the statement rang false, perhaps the pause before it, but who was he to judge? -- Vanitas himself had some secrets, too, after all. He stayed silent for a moment, too, just long enough for the quiet to feel a bit awkward, before --
“Then, would you like to accompany me back to the districts?” he says brightly, outstretching a hand. “Walking at night alone is more than a bit eerie, would you not say?” It's perhaps cheeky of him to ask, but Vanitas is a cheeky type of person.
❝ Does the ‘Easter Rabbit’ lay eggs like a chicken? ❞
“RABBITS that lay eggs?!” Vanitas, no.
Scenery flushed with crimson upon ground beneath, deadened body lie motionless upon the ground as a silhouette stands above. With tentacles outstretched from the ghoul’s backside, the sound of rattling causes attention to shift towards the direction of the sound. Not one for casualties or senseless violence, Kaneki stood his ground, beckoning towards the other.
❝ Are you going to let me pass? ❞
@vespeire··· ♥’d your post.
------ HONESTLY, HE is intrigued. Now this is something he has not seen before -- or so he thinks. Really, it reminds him the slightest bit of that Jeanne’s gauntlet (the material looks similar, he thinks) but it’s quite novel at the same time. He makes it known by circling around the young man, eyes fixated on him while one finger taps on his own cheek as though he is lost in thought.
After a moment, Vanitas speaks, almost interrupting the tail end of Kaneki’s sentence. “Now, what is this?” he says, pointing at the kakugou with an outstretched finger. He (accidentally or not) ignores the ghoul’s question, but hey, with all his circling, Kaneki’s path is indeed unblocked.

He rolls his eyes and sends a look at the other. ❝He may get the blood but I’ll get the glory.❞

He smirks. ❝Oh, so aggressive! It’s turning me on.❞
Zelnite looked over his shoulder; it was the nighttime, surely he’d be safe, but that was a ploy; with all the gold his wearing, he might as well be a victim to any other thief smart enough to attack. Even so, he kept a hand on the wooden daggers; annoying to have, but they work for self defense.
“You sense that too, right?” He asked his Jewel Ghost, who just nodded. He sighed and kept walking, unsure what to expect. At least he was in the 3rd sectors where his teleportation worked– overhearing gunshots only made him more weary of his surroundings. “Such as long as they don’t know what you are, buddy, you’re safe. And I have the means to defend myself as well. So don’t worry.”
@vespeire
---- NIGHT FALLS fast here, he reflects. Faster than in Paris or on an airship, where artificial lighting effuses the dim with an effect of brightness even as the sun disappears. The alleys he’s walking through have no such light; the only illumination comes from a moon he suspects as false. Nevertheless, Vanitas still hears murmurs of speech from up ahead, and at first, chills crawl up his spine. He is not one to be easily startled, but the oppressive closeness of the alleys is unsettling.
As he draws closer, he can make out the tail end of a line: “... so don’t worry.” The speaker is a red-haired young man, taller than Vanitas: his hair really is a bright color -- such that even though he was not facing Vanitas, it is a wonder that the doctor did not see him. But never mind that. “Were you speaking to someone?” he comments, eyebrows going up.

You know… Sector 6 ain’t that bad, Shintaro had to admit. All of this greenery helps calming down an anxious mind like his. He doesn’t know why he even decided to go on a walk when he could be spending his day at the comfort of his apatment, but he’s surprisingly not regretted the day yet.
Guess that Ene did leave a mark on him after all, huh?
In any case, things are pretty relaxing right now. The low murmur of pedestrians, the soft snow around his shoe covered feet and a nice bench for him to sit at. It’s actually enough to make him doze off for a bit…
*THUMP*
“IIIIHHHH!!!! Mayday, mayday!!!” Something suddenly hit the back of Shintaro’s head. In typical Shintaro fashion, there he was panicking excessively, when it was simply… a snowball. Just an innocent snowball that wouldn’t hurt anyone, right?
---- IT’S RATHER chilly, and Vanitas only notices this because he’s got his hands buried in the snow, making a mound of snowballs. Juvenile, yes, but when has that ever stopped someone like Vanitas at all? So far, when he’s thrown one and nailed someone, all they’ve done is give him a few stern words (during which he has tried his best to look contrite during) or a dirty look (which he returns a shit-eating grin to). It’s all well and good, but his fingers are beginning to get numb, so he resolves to just throw a few more before going into one of the greenhouses down below with all of the whispery plants to warm his hands back up.
He picks one of his snowballs up and tosses it a few times with one gloved hand, the snow leaving white specks on the black fabric. His eyes rove around until he spots an unsuspecting victim: there’s a boy sitting on a bench and even as Vanitas watches, he reclines back and seems to doze off, regardless of the fact that he wears only a thin jersey and the snow is starting to come down again. Whatever -- Vanitas feels no pity for those hit during snowball fights! (Ignoring that this is less of a fight seeing as the poor boy is sleeping.) He pulls back his arm and lets it fly.
The following reaction and shouting is the best that he’s gotten today, and from across the park, Vanitas merely stops and stares for a moment, his arm still slightly in front of him from when he made his throw. His silence doesn’t last long, though; it is mere seconds before his brain catches up and realizes that this is essentially hilarious. He bursts into laughter, bending forward to put his cold hands on his knees.
“I didn’t mean to startle you quite that much,” Vanitas says in ways of apology, the breathless grin on his face saying that even if he didn’t, he quite enjoyed the aftermath.
The man Sakura encountered didn’t seen out of the ordinary at all. With a cheerful smile she approached him. “H-Hi.”
Not the best start, but it would have to do for now. She didn’t let her brief stutter falter her, however - the girl peered at him, her gaze friendly. “I’m new here. I was just wondering if you could…explain about this place?”
@vespeire
---- “Bonsoir, mademoiselle!” He does not say it loudly, but there is a bright smile on his face, a contrast with her shyness. His face takes on a more introspective cast, though, when she asks her question.
After a moment, he replies. “I’m afraid I’m new to this city as well. But still, maybe I can give you some help -- what do you need to know?” He doubts he can be of much assistance, but he can at least give it a shot; she’s obviously younger than him and seems even lost in her uncertain bearing.
