Within the flames of some prior restraint there came the unrelenting and constant want and will to do whatever the night may have offered, the idea that should the world catch alight, its torch-wielder would be one top-hatted kind with the lust for the eve itself brandishing that very flame. He was wild, in more ways than simply the manic shade of crimson tarnishing the soft emerald-tinted blue of his previous gaze, for his body too twisted into a far more hunched demeanour yet all the while growing in height twice, no, thrice in size! So grand and yet so obviously reeking of terrible natures that the shadows upon the wall danced out of sight and swallowed one another like hungry wolves preying upon the lambs of the hillside.
Jagged jaw jabbed at his once-rosy lips, stealing life from his worried grimace before breeding itself into a wide grin, sharp pearly whites narrow and knife-like as their pierced the flesh and stained his chin a violent red to match his wicked eyes. He turned, stolen by his intruder, but not with fear nor even a hint of remorse that that stranger had discovered him there, for what was one lonely man within the night than a victim asserting himself most surely to Hyde’s very cause? Perhaps he too lusted for death, for it to smother him with rich and plump bosoms as he suckled upon the heart beneath, maiden’s mewls like siren’s songs beckoning forth the wanton air of his own wretched desires. Perhaps he was merely curious, a cat wily and intrigued though, one surely knew what had happened to that feline and no satisfaction would dare rekindle its life, for sure.
“ Certainly I am most definitely alive, “ Hyde cooed, retrieving the fallen gloves from the floor, the cane left for him by a self only hundreds of years prior ( or was it several hours? These occurrences were queer to say the least were they not, alas time and its many loopholes and levers was to be discussed another time perhaps! ) and then followed by the reunion of his blade, a jewel-crusted thing he had used only in instances best suited for it, crimes within crimes, perhaps you see? “ Friendly, eh? Sir tell me, for I am most unsure, why exactly I should play kind host to a stranger entering my house uninvited at such late hours? Perhaps in the ages I have been absent from my estate, I have forgotten the proper terms of catering to such things! Pray, do enlighten me, for I do so very wish to know. “ All said with a smile so wicked perhaps milk might have curdled, with eyes narrowed akin to thin jewels about a duchess’s neck before the crimson lurking beneath cried beneath the press of steel and gloved hand– ah, getting ahead of yourself is unbecoming is it not?
“ Well, I have many appointments you see and I certainly must hear your reply! You wouldn’t want to keep me waiting for too long, I can assure you! “
Humanity certainly is an interesting thing to a creature whose existence barely grazes the mark. Laito remains stagnant in his place, his eyes and ears fully attentive of the display before him. Despite how disgustingly ordinary humanity presents itself to be in the eyes of a vampire, they are still quite capable of some amazing feats. Magic and witchcraft in the modern age were things of fantasy-- never practiced and never truly believed in. Mythical and extraordinary feats and creatures tend to be swept under the rug and given the rather UNATTRACTIVE umbrella term “cryptid” and never studied any further by anyone other than the inevitably curious myth-buster desperate to find out the truth of a certain matter. Laito’s very existence is that of a cryptid-- the display before him, this wholesomely unattractive display of a man losing himself and another taking his place, could also be described as such. Humans come up with funny names for things they cannot EXPLAIN.
How funny it must be for one cryptid to bear witness to another.
He found it difficult to see this stranger as the very same man, once so small in the midnight shroud, to be the very same man that he had so cautiously followed home. No, no, this stranger had the gait of a madman with nothing to lose. With the same curiosity of a child, Laito’s neck craned and his fingers hook beneath pursed lips. What appeared to be quite the painful endeavor turns out to be something completely minor. After all, the stranger whom he had followed home sounds quite healthy. Maybe a little TOO healthy? Curiouser and curiouser, indeed.
Beneath his fingers came a deceptively warm smile. This individual shows no hint of fear or unease, and in the back of his mind he wished to know why. Bravado could only take one so far and even as limited in physical strength as Laito is, brutality and assertion of dominance is not the only way to subdue someone may they be mortal or mythical. Both hands now drop and interlock behind his back, his demeanor carefree as he strides forth. Feather-light footsteps still manage to sound out the rhythmic pitter-patter in his strides. He wished to see this stranger more UP CLOSE and PERSONAL and quite frankly it seemed as though the stranger minded very little.
Then again, whether he minded or not didn’t matter at all!
“Of course, of course. Showing up to one’s humble abode without an invitation is rude, isn’t it? Nfu♪ I’m so very sorry. Please forgive me.”
Spilling from his lips is a songful apology, his hands unfolding behind him and opening at his sides in an open-handed shrug.
“What’s that? Come, now. The means of catering to a guest are unchanged! For the most part, anyways. Come on, repeat after me: ‘Welcome, please make yourself at home.’ That’s how you welcome a guest properly.”
Laito shows no intent on leaving even if he’s shooed away.
“Appointments? Don’t tell me that doctors are active at this time of night! Ah, maybe it’s you who’s the doctor?”
“When was the last time I’ve even had a check-up, I wonder~ Would you look at that: potentially inviting a diseased child into your home. That’s unfortunate. Oops. Come now, I’m only joking around. There’s no need to get so defensive, hmm?”
Or so, Laito claims. Who knows, maybe he’s onto something. The vampire certainly enjoys talking out of his ass.
