Second Life: Oh my god this theory is not immediately dismissable and I don’t know how to feel about that

Hey, remember this asshole?

We sure let him fly under the radar, didn’t we? Yeah, no, I’m not letting him get away that easily.

Okay, so, for literal years this dude’s face was kept secret from us. We barely had a fuzzy outline of him, then suddenly he was one of two weird ghosts we weren’t allowed to see, then that outline started getting more and more defined, and EVERYONE IMMEDIATELY NOTICED that iconic hairstyle. And then the theories went wild. For the longest time, the reigning theory was time travel, which was a very controversial idea that Katsuki someday goes back in time to become the second user of OFA.

So the fandom gnawed its fingers off waiting for a face reveal, and then LO AND BEHOLD, he is almost identical to Katsuki after all. And since the resemblance at that point became undeniable, everyone did whatever they could to explain away the time travel theory (because it’s controversial for a reason) as quickly as possible, and now we have three theories floating around that everyone has just settled on.

Katsuki time travels to become the Second

The Second is some distant ancestor of Katsuki

Horikoshi’s establishing a visual parallel between the Second and Katsuki because he looooooves him some parallels

Theory #3 seems to be the widely accepted explanation in the fandom at this time.

And I hate it.

Don’t get me wrong; I prefer theory #3 to the other two by far. But this reminds me of how for the longest time everyone assumed All Might’s OFA vestige was golden and weird because he’s still alive, even though the canon never said anything like that (and as it turns out, his vestige is like that because it’s a completely different kind of vestige, so the assumption was faulty). And it reminds me of the fandom war over Katsuki’s hero name having only two options: Ground Zero or Kacchan. And just look how that turned out.

So I’ve got another theory for y’all. BakuDekus, hold out your plates.

Iida and Third's quirk are also pretty similar when you think about it too?! Fa Jin, a quirk that gains it's power from when the user produces kinetic energy... and Iida, who's quirk runs on orange juice as fuel. They're also both speed/power types (Iida is speed specially but Fa Jin is a bit more versatile)

it's just CRAZY, but....

Just IMAGINE.

That man in the shadows is Midoriya Hisashi. He works ABROAD, a very important job that does not allow him to be at home often. A very comfortable chair. Curls. And in general, the silhouette is quite massive, especially the calves of the legs.

Story: Afo once created a clone who is officially listed as a high worker, clean in all respects, not to find dirty laundry. And for the sake of his ambitions, Afo-clone became the head of the international commission of heroes to... be aware of the world's affairs, new developments, criminal schemes. Catch the villains and himself. Perfect cover.

My first thought after reading this was something along the lines of 'nahh, not possible. All for One may have ties in big places but even that seems a little ridiculous-'

But.

BUT NO.

The new chapter was FULL of juicy info, and thinking back to the panel in the newest chapter (328)...

It states that All for One has connections in EVERY SINGLE NATION.

EVERY SINGLE ONE.

Let that sink in. If All for One has ties in every nation, it's not going to be some small info broker. All for One doesn't DO that (-Giran, but even that's a bit iffy. I believe he's more with the League portion), so they're obviously going to be some big ties. From there well, okay, would there be anyone that All for One would trust this amount of responsibility to? There have been... kind of a few that we know of (the Doctor, but AFO didn't seen to care about him too much, and then Kurogiri was trusted with Tomura. But Kurogiri is a noumu who All for One hasn't made any attempt to save after being captured, and Tomura... well. He ended up being a trained vessel).

Okay. So back on topic, if there was one person that All for One trusted in gaining vital information to his plans, who would it be?

That's right. Himself. Because he is the most capable person of doing so.

And now that we all know that he's PERFECTLY able of infiltrating these places...

Why wouldn't he?

And there's your answer. He would.

What else has ties into every single nation, and doesn't need someone in every single place at the same time to get classified info?

The International Commission of Heroes.

It's perfect.

Aaanndd to tie it to the DFO part, and I may be bias when I say this, because I love that theory with my entire being, but...

You can't deny that it fits, right? Horikoshi has said that Midoriya Hisashi would play a part (or at least appear) at some point in the manga. And to Inko, having a husband who has literally made little to no appearance in Izuku's and her's life (from what we can see) is a BIG red flag. Especially because Hisashi is never home and doesn't seem to have made any move to interact with them past sending money. (LARGE sums of money, might I add. If one were to get a lot of money from a job... the International Hero Commission certainly feels like the very top. From what we know, Inko doesn't have a job, so it'd need to be A LOT to completely support a family of 2 and then himself).

However... back to the distance between Inko & Hisashi, theoretically, if she were to know that Hisashi worked for the International Hero Commission, an organization as big as the one shown... I think she'd find his distance slightly understandable.

Reading this over... either sides of this could be discarded tbh. This silhouette could just be our neighborhood-friendly Midoriya Hisashi, with no AFO clone to be seen. Or he could JUST be an AFO clone, with no Midoriya relation. Or maybe... it's both at the exact same time... and it could also be neither and this theory is just made off of the crack the current manga has us all on :)

Because god damn did this take forever, and it's not even in the same style as I'd usually draw! I'm used to traditional, and ik you get better at things with practice, but yikes!

There’s something so intimate about this moment. Just… Izuku is literally meeting a ghost, a person within his quirk, THE person that started One For All’s mission, and it’s not some kind of “You have this duty to do this for us” thing where Yoichi just starts rambling about missions and quirks and his brother

Instead, Yoichi steps out and says “I wish I could have shown you more”, presumably because he wanted Izuku to know what he was dealing with fully

But he reaches his hand out, as does Izuku, and it’s like their fingers interlock. This isn’t really hand holding I think. It’s like… searching. The kind of searching you would do in the dark, trying to find a light switch. Which is proven even more by the Void being this dark shadowy place

And then Yoichi says “Don’t worry. You’re not alone.”

He reaches out, with both ends searching for that light switch they so sorely need, and they find each other in the middle. It’s a reassurance, a comfort, to know that there is someone there to help you

It just makes me think, too, about how Yoichi must feel about this entire situation. I mean, think of the 8 generations of users whose lives have been ruined by this quirk. He knows with each Vestige that joins him in the Void that another ghost has been added and, while it boosts the power of the quirk itself, it means another user dies early. It means passing the quirk singularity point and damaging the user. It means ruining their life because of his maniac brother doing whatever he wants in order to attain power. This is a quirk that ruins lives, it ruins families, it ruins people. It’s by all rights a cursed power

Yoichi has stayed in this quirk for centuries, learning with every 40 or so years that he’s killing more and more people by them taking on this duty. On one hand it’s needed because if AFO isn’t stopped, everyone dies. On the other hand, what must it feel like to fail 8 times with the knowledge that you are dragging in people who could have lived potentially happier lives having never known this cursed power exists?

So, I imagine that when Yoichi finally got the chance to meet a user (not learn that another has been added, but ACTUALLY meet them), he likely knew he had to reassure them. That through the fear, the guilt, the anguish and hatred and sorrow, that they aren’t alone. They aren’t

That’s the first thing he wanted to do after showing how he got the quirk. He didn’t set Izuku up with a list of things he had to do, he didn’t order or demand, he didn’t set out to be ominous and mysterious on purpose. His first instinct was to reassure this user that everything would be okay

“I’m here. We’re with you every step of the way. I don’t want you to end up like the others. Please don’t be afraid, I’m here to help.”

“Don’t worry. You’re not alone.”
