Tremors
I couldn’t quite believe what I was hearing - especially as, as far as I was aware, policing Sharps was not the main purpose of Cadenza. Admittedly, I wasn’t quite sure what its main purpose was, but I knew it had something to do with being something like special forces and a force to be reckoned with upon dome fall.
But Dalton’s words made it much clearer. The offer was a combination of bribery and blackmail and we really couldn’t afford to have that looming over us.
“Joreth,” I began, turning my gaze to my stoic friend. “Do you think your family would consider supporting us at all?”
Paris narrowed his eyes as the conversation swiftly shifting away from him, looking at Joreth as he, with the others, awaited his answer.
“Not easily,” Joreth began, his words slow as he thought it over. “They are not fond of the fact that a denouncer runs Cadenza, and it would also depend on other families that support us. If a family with which we trust was to support this then it would be much more likely.”
Dalton nodded. It figured that the Voce would not want to support denouncers such as himself – he had not been too hopeful in that regard, however gaining support from trustworthy families was something that he should be able to manage. “Then we will have to come back to that idea once we have a better idea on who else may be able to support us.”
“What of Vanessa?” Joreth asked, “She is on the Administration, however she has worked together with us multiple times. She would surely see the investment.”
