merilin learned quickly that solas’s kisses had the power to leave her breathless. that controlled, yet untamed passion she’s admired him for that brims beneath his skin like it could tear worlds down around her. his eyes that have seen more than she has, his hands that have wielded more power, he simply bleeds a quiet strength she can’t help but feel drawn to.
and still, somehow, she underestimates him. she’s prepared for the moment to stop, when his lips brush her throat and he mouths over the sensitive skin. she’ll have time to reflect on the unbridled moan he draws out of her and be embarrassed later, but for now, all she can process is the hammering of her pulse on his mouth.
“SOLAS,” she gasps into the top of his head.
she can only stand it for so long, pulling him off by his shoulders within a few moments of feeling the heat pool low within her, but still she holds him near. before he has the chance to mistake her withdrawal for rejection, she cups his face and presses a firm, close-lipped kiss to his lips. it’s brief, but doesn’t lack in intensity and reassuring affection.
she lets her forehead fall against his, their noses gently bumping against each other and heated breaths hanging like a thick fog over the silence. her eyes shut as she tries to bring herself down from a high she wasn’t prepared to take. it’s been years since another person made her feel dizzy, but here she is, swaying slightly on her feet and gripping the back of his neck like a lifeline. her heart hammers with such intensity she wonders if he can hear it too.
merilin basks in the sound of their paired breathing for several beats, fondly thumbing at the base of solas’s skull before allowing her eyelids to flutter open halfway. when their eyes meet, she breathes out a quiet laugh and her swollen lips break into a slightly dazed smile.
she lets them linger in that proximity, breaths evening gradually, and her expression very slowly sobers. the stirring heat seated in her poses a wordless question, and she searches his eyes for the answer. his kind, wise, and somehow sad eyes that can read her like she can read him. he understands her like no one does, and she aches to understand him. she would never ask him to share more of himself than he is willing to give, for she’s fond of the man he is in front of her. a man who has been everywhere, yet has known nobody.
‘you don’t have to be alone anymore,’ her eyes whisper. ‘you have me. i have you.’
taking him by the hand, she leads him from the balcony and into her quarters.
You will guard them and they will hate you for it. Whenever there is not a Blight actively crawling over the surface, humanity will do its best to forget how much they need you. And that’s good. We need to stand apart from them, even if they have to push us away to make us do it. That is the only way we can ever make the hard decisions. (click to enlarge)
people who play devil’s advocate, or anyone going out of their way to find something to criticize something by for no apparent reason??? that isn’t even helpful and just serves to feed their own ego????? that brand of purposeful negativity/cynicism aggravates her many pre-existing negative mindsets caused by her depression that she’s worked hard on trying to push aside.
she isn’t the most optimistic or idealistic person, but boy does it grind her gears when someone tries to ruin a good thing just because they can.
all of this ANGST lately – while nice – it’s getting a bit OLD. I want your character to try their best and make mine feel super loved. give them ALL you’ve got. make them blush like crazy and CRY because they’ve never heard such beautiful things before. do it. I dare you.
