Having to interview donors is really funny.

But it’s funny sometimes. Today I had to interview a married guy, and, as part of the protocol, I have to ask him how many sexual partners he’s had, even though he’s in a serious relationship.

He didn’t pass, by the way; Mexican regulations for blood banks stipulate that having two active sexual partners is grounds for temporary exclusion.

The cheating husband will have to wait four months before he can donate blood for his friend. I don't know what he told his wife (who was waiting for him outside) about why he wasn't eligible to donate.

Want to hear something funny? Before I wrote all that crap, I’d just had a TERRIBLE shift.

I work at a hospital—the environment is hostile to begin with—my shifts are rotating, but the supervisor is an asshole who decides my days off and my schedule while she has a stable one. My day off last week was a Sunday, my day off this week was WEDNESDAY (yesterday), and my next day off won’t be until next Friday. Which means I’ll be working 8 days in a row.

On top of that, my supposed current schedule is from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, but during the week there are days when it can switch to the morning shift. Which means that today I’ll leave work at 9:00 PM, it takes me an hour to get back to my apartment because I take two buses, tomorrow I start work at 7:00 a.m., assuming I don’t make it home for dinner and go straight to sleep for 6 hours because if I wake up at 4:00 a.m., I’ll have time to shower, put on makeup, get dressed, eat breakfast, and get to the bus stop early since the bus can always be late. That means 6 hours of sleep

So the night I posted that, I was waiting for the bus late at night, all alone, in the center of a big city like Monterrey (Mexico, so you can imagine how awful it is) after a day where my friends and I didn’t even have time to eat or drink water, one of the donors at the blood bank (my department) tried to touch my face while I was drawing his blood, using the excuse “I’m nervous,” and one of my friends told me she was going to quit.

I log onto Twitter, my go-to escape when I have no other way to distract myself, and I find this absurd fight over the name of a ship.

So no, I don’t care—I don’t give a damn. I wrote all of this not to make you feel sorry for me, but so you’d understand that, among all the problems in my life right now, THIS WAS JUST A LITTLE SOMETHING THAT ANNOYED ME AFTER THE SHITTY DAY I HAD.

I can't complain about my supervisor with HR because, in case you don’t have a job and you don’t know, HR won't solve anything, and anything you tell them could potentially be used against you the next time they evaluate your productivity.

But I can complain about this, I can complain about shipwars, I can complain about how my own fandom was misusing the alternative name I suggested—and that way vent some frustration.

And somehow? YOU GUYS MADE IT WORSE. I didn't mention any specific names, nor did I accuse anyone of "stealing" anything, because I just wanted to complain about the situation IN GENERAL, but you guys (eagleone shippers) jumped in to "defend yourselves" against something you weren't even being accused of.

And then I got spammed with replies of nonsense, missing the entire point and accusing me OF ACCUSING YOU.

This was by far the worst to me:

When I joined REtwt, I realized that (back then) if you searched for “cleon,” all that came up were tweets attacking the ship and the shippers, calling them every name in the book as if shipping them were a sin.

Later, one night with my friends, we started looking for alternative names for Cleon, and I came up with ‘rookieangel.’ As ‘Rookie’ Leon being a rookie cop when they met and ‘Angel’ for Claire’s iconic ‘Made in Heaven’ jacket. They liked it, Twitter apparently liked it too, and it seemed like a good idea to me to clean up the algorithm.

So, if you searched for rookieangel, you’d find fan art, fanfiction, and headcanons, and I was happy that my contribution to the fandom was giving it an alternative name that other Cleons could use if they wanted to (and it made me happy every time they used the hashtag #rookieangel.

And I mean, even then I didn't expect other Cleons to use the hashtag. I even said I'd use it even if I was the only bitch in the whole fandom using it LMAO

And now I realize that the Cleons on Twitter are fighting over the name because the Eagleones decided to use “rookieagle” for the RE2 Leon x Ashley ship, and… I don’t know, it actually makes me a little sad.

On the one hand, I kind of saw this coming—it’s not my first fandom, and I’ve been in fandoms way more toxic than RE since 2013 (South Park, Steven Universe)—but damn, the name was meant to erase that negativity, and the fight itself seems absurd and pointless to me.

Thank God I'm 25 and this doesn't get me down the way it would if I were 13, but it still feels kind of sad, you know? It makes me want to stop using the #Rookieangel hashtag.

I have never, in my thirty-six summers on this planet, ever heard of a ship using a brand new ship name just to denote an AU -- which is what "rookieagle" is. Whenever they try to tell you that this is "normal" and that Leon/Claire folk are overreacting, they're gaslighting you. They're gaslighting you so that you stop bothering them, because they're entitled brats who think that they should be allowed to do and say whatever they want without consequence.

This particular cadre of Leon/Ashley fans has a history of doing that. One of the people in question tried to accuse me of "causing drama" because they screencapped my paywalled content and posted it to their own timeline. Then, when I told them I was well within my legal rights to DMCA them because my paywalled work is copyrighted, they insisted (twice!!!) that they didn't screenshot my stuff at all -- even after being presented with the fucking photo evidence of them doing it.

These are also the same people who try to say I'm "blowing it out of proportion" when I call someone with neo nazi ideology a fucking neo nazi, and they accuse me (a Jewish person) of "trying to ruin the life of a teenager" by calling her neo nazi ideology what it is.

This neo nazi teenager, by the way, openly posts porn to her account, and these are full-grown adults circling the wagons around her and fighting tooth and nail to protect and maintain this teenager's place in the fandom so that she can keep doing what she's doing.

Leon/Claire fandom needs to put their foot on these Leon/Ashley fans' fucking necks. Spam every single post they make with the "rookieagle" tag until they stop using it. Don't let up. They've been getting away with their bad behavior for too long.

im not gonna defend eagleones stealing sirea's paywalled content and i can promise that i never will. that is a problem with people from the community who don't have basic concepts of intellectual ownership.

that being said, no one was trying to steal "rookie" from anyone. i really do not know how using an english word can be called stealing.

you're looking at this under the assumption that eagleones use this to piss cleons off. they didn't use it because well someone just thought it was a nice name for the art they specifically drew of 1998 leon and ashley.

but that's EXACTLY what happened, an artist under the name of amor3muerte started using it for their art, and other eagleones repeated it among themselves.

it's that simple and unproblematic. it's just a ship name, one that probably would not take off either, because there are already THREE ship names existing simultaneously for leon and ashley.

and rookieangel came along the same time i see aeons use rookiespy. that ship name on their side also took off. if you asked someone like me, who never intimately interacted with either side, i cannot in good faith say cleons called "dibs" on it. and i would 100% believe you that cleons did use it first, but that's not the point. the point is just thatthe word "rookie" is not synonymous to any ship.

eagleones are not trying to take anything away from cleons. and i think after this they would drop this name out of respect for cleons and because there's no way this name will be popularised, but there's nothing to criminalise here. saying they stole the word means the word must belong to someone.

we cannot own words.

but i'm not gonna use it either. knowing the context that "rookieangel" was beloved by another community and that "eagleone" is still a kick ass name, i dont see why i would replace it.
