Parents, your children do not need the luxuries of this world. They don’t need all the toys, vacations, pintrest worthy rooms, instagrammable outfits. They don’t need half as much as you actually think they do.
They need you. They need your time. They need your attention. All they want is a parent who isn’t too tired to play with them. They don’t want all the dunya has to offer if it means less time with you. My fondest memories of my grandfather were of him and I just spending time together; him including me in what he would do anyway. We watered the plants in his garden. Fed the birds in his aviary, checked on their little eggs and hatchlings. We went for walks. We spent time on the roof looking out. I assissted him as he fixed all sorts of things around the house. It was amazing and I couldn’t have wanted more from him.
We have this culture of chasing the dunya of making sure our kids have everything we didn’t but we forget that this dunya once it gets you running, you can’t stop. Whether you’re a single parent or not, your children would rather you be around than have the best clothes and toys. Look after their necessities. Look after their tarbiyyah. Look after their childhood. The big house, fancy car and all that are nice but they’re not worth the trade of their memories.
Let’s not glorify the parents who work 3 jobs back to back just to provide for their childrens lifestyles. Let’s set a norm where its admirable to take on less hours. Be involved in their lives. Shape their future with your presence not with the lack of it.

Every time this is on my dash, it’s an automatic reblog.
I hope the next thing I get addicted to is taking care of my self and loving my body
