2016 Resolutions
1. Graduate. This is the year I finally graduate from college. Yes, I took longer than some but when I think about my previous semester/quarters spent in community + state college, I never knew what I wanted to do. I went from pursuing a Pharmaceutical degree to Nursing to Accounting to (now) Human Resources. I have found something that I enjoy doing and I'm happy. 2. Yoga. Whether it's doing yoga at home or at BTC Wellness or at school, I want to make this part of my lifestyle. Yoga was one of best things I got into last year and I want to continue it, even if it is only once a week. I already signed up for Beginning Hatha Yoga during Spring 2016 Semester. It's a once a week class. 3. Run. Running has never been my strong suit. BUT I have been wanting to change this. I recently signed up for the San Francisco Half Marathon in July 2016 with one of my best friends. She constantly pushes me to do things that I am always on the fence about doing, and I'm grateful that she's in my life. I have also signed up for a Jogging class during Spring 2016 Semester -- that way, it'll force me to attend because it's for a grade. Slowly, I am going to make it part of my lifestyle. 4. Hike. If you can't tell, I want to be more active this year. I would like to hike more often with Geronimo. Once my Passion Planner comes in, I plan on scheduling hiking days / times in advance. 5. Read. I recently purchased a Kindle and have been reading some books here and there. I have already finished Love Like Crazy by Megan Squires and am currently starting The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment by Eckhart Tolle. Other books include: The 5th Wave, Falling Into Place, and The Little Book of Mindfulness. If you have any recommendations, feel free to let me know! 6. Health. I originally had down healthy eating, but as I edit and elaborate on my resolutions, I'm thinking everything I do should fall under health. I (obviously) am not getting any younger, which means my metabolism is not what it used to be. This doesn't mean my diet will completely change, but I am going to try to prep some meals prior and try to cut out processed foods and snacks such as chips. Chips are my weakness. I found that one way to avoid this is to make a grocery shopping list prior to getting in the store. I find that most of the things (especially healthy foods) are never in the aisles. Fruits and vegetables are always on the outskirts and (usually) in the back are your protein selections. Also, getting back into juicing. Although prepping and juicing is time consuming -- it does have great outcomes. I definitely felt like I had more energy and I wasn't constantly complaining about needing more sleep. This next tiny resolution that falls under health is take the stairs more often. No more elevators in the BBC Building. There are only 3 floors in that building. TAKE THE STAIRS. 7. Travel + Log. Like everyone else who is in their early-mid 20's ... traveling is something we all aspire to do. I may or may not be able to travel this year because it's my last year in school; which means school + graduating is my number 1 priority. However, I still want to plan mini trips -- even if they are only a couple hours away! These mini vacations will keep you sane. Trust me. Not only do I want to be able to travel, but I want to log these travels via photos and this blog. This requires me to blog more often. 8. Career. This is the year where I will find which subcategory in Human Resources I want to go into. My current career path falls along the lines of an internship turned into a job offer by the time I graduate. 9. Do Things That Make Me Happy. Say yes to things I want to do. Say no to things I don't want to do. Of course, it's easier said than done. But I think sometimes we all need a reminder that it is okay to say yes and it is okay to say no. I've decided to move my personal blog to Wordpress (@vialam). Feel free to follow along my journey. My tumblr will be used for miscellaneous things.
