Happy birthday, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (b. 22 May 1859)
what do you think is the story?
“We’re all a little weird, and life’s a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.”
Dr. Seuss (via psych-facts)
“Come lay with me. I wanna talk about nothing with someone that means something.”

The most amazing thing of all has been you, Mr. Nakata. You changed my life. These past ten days, I don’t know - things look different to me now. Stuff I never would’ve given a second glance at before seems different. Music, for instance - music I used to think was boring really gets to me now. I feel as if I have to tell somebody about this or I’ll burst, somebody who’ll understand what I’ve gone through. Nothing like this ever happened to me before. And it’s all because of you. I’ve started to see the world through your eyes. Not everything, mind you. I like how you look at life, so that’s why it happened. That’s why I’ve stayed with you through thick and thin, why I couldn’t leave you. It’s been one of the most meaningful times I’ve ever had in my life. So there’s no need for you to be thanking me - not that I mind it. I should be thanking you. All I’m trying to say is you’ve done me the power of good, Mr. Nakata. Do you know what I’m saying?

Well, it has been a while since I actually wrote and posted something relevant.
For the past few months, I’ve been living the typical employed person’s life.
Wake up. Commute to work. Work. Go home from work. Sleep. Repeat.
For some, it almost feels like a routine (Surprise! It actually is!) but I think one of the things that I enjoy the most about work is that I get to meet and encounter tons of new people everyday. And what’s MORE enjoyable about it is that I get to meet familiar faces as well. Schoolmates and high school batch mates to name a few. I get to give these people possible job opportunities and interact with them to my heart’s content. I almost always wonder why being part of the human resources team is nowhere near to being recognized as one of the most enjoyable work out there.
Imagine. You have a person’s future lying in your hands. You either hire him or reject him... and that’s a part of his future either ruined or changed for the better. You have the ability to crush someone’s dream of entering his/her dream company. You have the ability of giving the person an opportunity to provide for his or her family.
If one were to ask me what I hate about my work, I would say it’s all about rejecting people on a daily basis. I get around a minimum of 4 applicants per day and 8 at most. On days that really suck, I get to reject all 8 of them. On lucky days, I get to accept all 4 to proceed to the next stage. And even then, it’s not assured that all of them will get into the company.
The thought of rejecting someone really sucks too. I always think of how I’m not even credible to judge these people based on their performance in the interview. How one should not be defined based on their test grades. How I get to decide to reject someone who might be better than me.
I honestly don’t know how to end this post so... Yep. Just to give you an update.
When you have exhausted all possibilities, remember this - you haven’t.
