open to: table 19 && any adjacent [ your discretion ] || darcy
darcy’s fingers– cuticles dry and cracking– trace the edge of a wine glass, thin and made thinner with some intricate design that anybody without glasses couldn’t make out. with every revolution, the wine pools further and further into the smooth bowl of the glass, threatening each person at the table with a spill.
boredom has always spelled trouble for darcy, but at this table lies another temptation: a certain guy who ordered his goons to set fire to a certain house.
the glass slips from his feather light touch and– oops–
ah, shit is right. red wine is tipped right onto silk red dress, causing an everlasting stain onto the entire front drop of her outfit. so much for staying lowkey. fingers grip her clutch purse, painted nails digging into the leather of bag as to know slip up on any words and most importantly ; PLAY IT COOL. “ happen, next time aim for the shoes at least. ” girl reaches for the detailed napkins, lightly dabbing at the excessive cool of wine on her person.

𝐁𝐔𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐓 𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐒 / 𝐁𝐈𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐏𝐇𝐘 ! ―
so so, starting at the beginning maggie was born in chicago and has lived on the outskirts of the city her entire life. meaning she is WELL aware of what’s going on with the families in the city. her mother was a florist, a fairly well known shop in the central of downtown chicago. dad never talked much about where the cash came in from, he bounced between job to job but was fairly stern on keeping his business at work and his home at home. maggie mostly remembers her father owning a burger shop though, she’s almost certain that THE BURGER STAND wasn’t paying off the new dodge charger but her lips were sealed shut.
she grew up in a well off family, they weren’t exactly upper class but they were living comfortably in their forever home. that was until maggie and her younger brother john’s mother was killed in a mishap plane wreckage. tragedy struck the family and began the divide that tormented the lee family name. dad was never the same, he didn’t eat dinner with the family and didn’t turn his cheek when his children went off to college. john was the perfect son, he made good grades, stayed out of trouble and would be damned if maggie was caught up in her own world.
maggie’s mother was her rock, her best friend - maggie had never known of death. it was unfamiliar, cold. for some reason the entire situation felt unreal, almost as if she was living in a cursed nightmare. she struggled to sleep most nights and would be lucky to remember her next meal. the hug of a caring parent was all she really needed to bring back pink cheeked girl.
frat parties, flunking grades and an opioid addiction later, maggie found herself at a sinking end of her life. there was no path to follow, only one of a teenage love --- though it was never good. the boy had gotten her involved in drugs, coke, marijuana, psychedelics, prescriptions, you name it. she felt she’d acquired a clyde to her bonnie, running drugs to minors at parties and using her womanhood to up her own clientele. it was never a good feeling, being used, being surrounded by people who didn’t care. girl felt ontop of her own world --- but empty, useless.
late shifts at the burder stand and bailing on sunday dinners, did nothing but cause a rift between her father and brother. dad eventually stopped saying i love you back and cut her excuses off. john would continue his talks, tell maggie that she was better than this, that she didn’t need her boyfriend to be something. maggie had always wanted to be more like john, though she’d found herself trapped in a web she couldn’t drag herself out of.
john couldn’t take it anymore, eventually he stopped letting maggie get away with her antics. figured if he’d taken her away that the partying would stop and so would the dealing. it’d only gotten messier though, as maggie was involved with ( OPEN PLOT ) one of the crime families. getting drugs from underlings within the families to sell on the streets. john offered to take maggie’s place and buy her way out of the street involvement. a deal went bad, the family didn’t allow maggie an out as she still had packs to sell and BLAM. a loud pistol shot later, screams ripped through the girl’s throat as she watched her brother’s body fall to the chicago alleyway.
it was maggie’s fault, there was no blame to be pushed other than onto herself. maggie knew that and so did her father. it’s been five years and there is still awkward pauses between the two, she figures the space between her father is to fill the hole where her mother and brother should be. she doesn’t blame him.
there was never anymore of this behavior from maggie, she stopped seeing her boyfriend, she got a job - got clean. and began her new adventure into exposing the realism of crime families, the dirty vile people who had run the underground ring and ended so many harmless lives for their own financial gain and status over the city.
they hadn’t paid for her brother’s life, they hardly even cared. maggie know runs her own expose thanks to a blog spot and podcast, she’d taken a pen name to ensure the safety of her family. she’s usually seen lurking around hidden joints and throwing herself into near danger to catch a story and file reports. she wants nothing more than to put the dangerous criminals behind bars and to clean the streets of chicago.
