“It’s like autumn arriving. You expect nothing from its arrival. You expect everything.”

#sorrynotsorry
If I stare into the darkness long enough, I can almost see the stars. The problem is I'm squinting so I can't be quite sure. I can never be quite sure. Alas, I do suppose my eyes struggle to see clearly more often than not.

I never realized what a big deal that was. How amazing it is to find someone who wants to hear about all the things that go on in your head.
Nina LaCour, Hold Still (via wordsnquotes)
But in the night he woke and held her tight as though she were all of life and it was being taken from him.
Ernest Hemingway, For Whom the Bell Tolls (via theliteraryjournals)
Perhaps I was too complicated for you.
Ain't that always the way
There was a cicada in my sink this morning. It's screaming kept me up half the night. I believe I dreamt a ton of random dreams but I can't decipher which ones if any were reality. Yesterday on the 6 train there were women arguing in sign language and it was the loudest goddamn conversation I have ever heard in my life. The last few days have been so unbearably bizarre that every moment of every day feels like it could be part of some story game that I am clearly losing. Well, maybe I'm winning, but if I am - it's only because I've been too far off for anyone to find me.
It is perhaps the misfortune of my life that I am interested in far too much but not decisively in any one thing; all my interests are not subordinated in one but stand on an equal footing.
Søren Kierkegaard (via wordsnquotes)
Learn to let go of what doesn't suit you, who doesn't love you and how you thought your life would look. Even if your heart breaks, even if you feel his lips on yours every time you speak his name. You may not feel whole tomorrow, but you always were and you always will be.
But when the evening came I wept. I wept bitterly. Pain was everywhere. Sprang out of everything — Spread everywhere. Into everything— And then lay on top of me.
Else Lasker-Schüler, tr. by Eavan Boland, from “In The Evening,” (via violentwavesofemotion)
We will fall asleep in the sunlit warmth of a Saturday afternoon.
It is not life that’s complicated, it’s the struggle to guide and control life.
F. Scott Fitzgerald, This Side of Paradise (via wordsnquotes)
I have to say that although it broke my heart, I was, and still am, glad I was there.
Markus Zusak, The Book Thief (via wordsnquotes)
Can't complain
"Hey, how are ya?" "Good ya know, can't complain" Um I'm sorry I think you can -I think in fact you are in all reality very able, not to mention willing to complain! Ya know since all you fucking do is complain except when someone asks - hey how are ya? To which for some godforsaken reason you respond with a lie. Like stop. Just stop. This is your big chance! Go for it, get all the complaining out now rather than lying to them and yourself and maybe it will save us all alot of headaches! K, thanks.
