ah so i just realised that i’d never made an official post about this, and it’s kinda a psa i guess regarding ari’s character. i’ll tag this appropriately. SPOILER ALERT ! if you’re triggered by sexual abuse or any kind of abuse, i’d take a step back right now.
first off, even though it may not have been entirely clear in ari’s bio ( which i do expect to have been read unless you could have been triggered by it, in which case i’d want to explain it to you in simple, untriggering terms ) , ari’s father physically, mentally, and sexually abused her from a very young age. he also abused her mother in the same ways, and her brother only mentally. ari was understood to be the ‘ cursed child ’ , as she was a mistake and her father never wanted her to be born in the first place.
secondly, ari’s sexual abuse lasted for the entirety of the time she lived with her father. this includes all the years up until her escape from him ( and resultant capture by ultra ) at the age of 14. in addition, the actual abuse ranged from touching & watching, to full penetration. okay, ew, i hate that word. it just sounds gross. but when it comes down to it, ari’s father, as a part of the abuse he put her through, would repeatedly rape her. it was also a regular occurrence. he first raped her when she was six, but he had sexually abused her in other ways previous to this.
thirdly, it’s important to note that ari is a consensual virgin meaning she has never had consensual sex. the only sexual contact she has ever had has been at her father’s hands.
fourth, ari’s physical abuse did leave lasting scars on her body. these can be seen on almost every inch of her skin, combined with scars from all the testing ultra put her through & all self inflicted marks, & therefore she always covers herself. the only ways people see her scars are those who see her body ( for example if she’s changing or if she’s possibly having a prolonged episode and needs help with everyday tasks ) , or if an item of clothing rolls up/falls down/falls off. in these cases, it is okay for your character to point out/be worried about ari’s scars. in fact, it makes a good plot & it’s one i’d love to play out.
fifth, all of the abuse combined, plus ultra’s experiments, have caused ari to develop haphephobia. this is the intense fear of being touched in any way. this is an important character point and cannot be ignored ! please take into consideration, when playing with my character, that any attempts at touch will either be greeted with a ( more friendly ) flinch & wince, as if it actually hurts to be touched, or a ( more violent ) telekinetic blast of varying intensities depending on her mood, sending your muse’s arm/body/hand/head away from her and even causing unintentional injury.
