When you get jail mail right after seeing a client in jail

I've spent the night sobbing. I'm tired.

It's a shift to felony defense work and a general feel like I can't help anyone.

Looking at VOPs and the dumb reasons people are violated make me mad. What makes it worse are the offers that come.

And there is little to nothing to be done. My hands get tied. I'm so frustrated.

I'm okay. There really is no need to worry, but it was a bad spot today.

Today, I'm overwhelmed and about in tears. Nothing is working on my computer. My case file system is crashed or refusing to work. My damn email has been loading for 20 minute. I've restarted everything. I'm just done.

I’d love it if people would quit doing crime while their taillights are out and while their registrations are not valid.

Quit giving police reasons to stop you.

As a white woman in her 40s driving around with out of date tags never getting stopped, being non-white is generally the reason. The tags are just the justification.

I don’t disagree with you, but it is still frustrating when your client, who is known to police to be a drug user AND to never have a license, is still out there driving around with their drugs in the car.

Also when they know and still give permission to search their car and it isn't their first time around.

And without the justification the stop becomes supressable and then the whole thing can go away because there was no reason to stop and thus no probable cause to search and everything is fruit of the poisonous tree and there is the dismissal.

Some people comment on legal things and while it is missing a lot of nuance, the general point is there. Then other friends post cases from the media that are completely lacking in understanding of the scope of what the court is saying or are angrily saying the same thing as the court only to say that that is what the court should have said. I start to type a response and then I realize that I just don't have the capacity or time to teach 3 years of law school understanding nor do I want to.

It would be super rude to post this gif and walk away, right?
