Maybe we should just stay here, Harry. Grow old.
“Back to witches and wizards, and magical beasts! To goblins and ghosts, and to magical feasts! It’s all that I love, and it’s all that I need. At Hogwarts, Hogwarts!”

“Yeah, Quirrell was a great teacher, there was just that minor drawback of him having Lord Voldemort sticking out of the back of his head.”

“I believe that I have a kind heart, but there is a pit in it that is so black that only the people, who’ve hurt me when I loved them, live near it.”

Men are so underwhelming. Give me a rose. Sing to me. Come into my dressing room through a two way mirror. Find a mannequin that looks like me and dress it up like a bride. Meet me in the graveyard and pretend to be my dead father. Burn down the Opera House. Impress me you fools

The cloak of levitation is an ancient relic that has served hundred of masters in it’s lifetime. It was the cloak’s sovereign duty to protect and assist it’s master by any means necessary. Though in some cases, it tends to take matters into it’s own hands.
(Y/n). The cloak knew that something peculiar would fall over it’s master when he would see her. Was she dangerous? The cloak could always feel Strange grow anxious when speaking to her. As the great cloak of levitation it felt that it was it’s duty to dispel of any threat. But one day, it realized the truth.
Stephen was upstairs when (y/n) arrived at the Sanctum. She wore her tunic neatly, brushing a stray hair from her face as she entered through the portal. Cloak stormed down the corridor toward her at increasing speed. Intruder! (Y/n) smiled a nervous grin at the sight.
“Stephen..?” She chuckled nervously but the cloak wouldn’t stop it’s pursuit. It was coming for her! Just before the cloak could smother her, (y/n) ducked causing it to fly through the portal. “STEPHEN!” She yelled as she sprinted down the corridor. “YOUR CLOAK IS TRYING TO KILL ME!” (Y/n)’s heart leapt as she heard the portal reopen behind her. Crapcrapcrapcrap! She looked down at her wristlets and gave them a quick clink.
“Cmon you guys, work with me!” The cloak enveloped her from behind but she flung her wrists behind her head, striking the cloak with a blast of energy. It flew backward, stunned. (Y/n) panted as she thanked her wristlets. But the cloak was t defeated that easily, (y/n) backer up against the wall as the cloak spun in the air preparing to pounce.
“STOP!” A deep voice shouted from down the corridor causing (y/n)’s heart to jump.
Before the cloak could strike, Stephen leapt in front of (y/n), shielding her from the attack. The cloak froze just inches from it’s masters face. “Bad cloak! Go back to your case.” He pointed down the hall causing the cloak to slump its makeshift shoulders. (Y/n) couldn’t help but feel sorry for the attacker, it looked so sad as it floated down the corridor. Stephen quickly spun around and placed his hands on (y/n)’s arms.
“Sorry I had no idea you were coming. Are you hurt?” He asked with a smile, (y/n) could see the twinkle of worry in his eyes.
“Im fine, just a little spooked..” her eyes wandered and met the cloak that perked around the corner. Stephen followed the gaze and sighed.
“Now.” The cloak lowered it’s collar and fled behind the wall. (Y/n) chuckled at the sight.
“You know.. you shouldn’t be too hard on the thing. It was just trying to protect you..” Stephen wanted to shrug off the idea but couldn’t help but be drawn by her kindness.
“Yeah..it’ll get over it.”
The two walked past the cloak and into the study. The cloak “watched” carefully. Stephen was so different when he was with her. Cloak had never seen him smile this much. Though he spoke calmly, cloak could feel the nerve filled aura that emitted off it’s master. If this young woman wasn’t a danger, then why did she make him feel this way?
A few hours passed until laughter echoed down the corridor. Cloaky has been listening carefully through the walls just to make sure Stephen was okay. The door freaked open allowing Stephen to hold it for (y/n) who carried a stack of books.
“Thank you for these, I’ll try and get through them as fast as I can.” Stephen raised a hand and waved the notion.
“Please, take your time. Do you need any help carrying those?”
“I think I’ll be fine. It’s nothing I can’t handle.” Cloak hovered around the corner, peeking as they headed for the portal.
“I’d get the door for you but uh..” a pulse emitted through Stephen’s aura as if his heart rate was picking up. Cloak resisted the erg to fly from it’s hiding place and ease it’s master but it quickly saw the aura shift when the young woman chuckled. A calm blue haze fell over the anxious red aura causing a gentle purple tint to take its place. What power does (y/n) possess to cause such a change?that was when (y/n) looked over her shoulder and smiled at the cloak.
“Sorry for surprising you!” Stephen quickly turned his head and saw the cloak as it flew back behind it’s corner.
“That thing I swear..”
“It’s fine Stephen! I know my relics would be protective of me too.” He pondered on asking her what her relics were but could hear a low echo of the ringing bell in Karma Taj. The two shared a sweet goodbye and she was gone.
Stephen released a sigh of relief and ran his hand through his hair as he walked down the corridor. Cloak crept out of it’s hiding place and followed it’s master.
“Don’t think I’ve forgotten what you did..” His words sounded harsh but his voice sounded a little nicer than before. “You can be my guard dog all you want just..just don’t hurt her.” Cloak perked up at those words. Stephen had never told Cloak not to fight off anyone, not even Wong! Stephen preferred to be alone in the Sanctum but Wong always had an enchantment of his own to fend off the cloak. The relic nudged Strange’s shoulder as if to ask “why?” He sighed at the fickle thing.
“I guess there’s no use in hiding it..” he glanced over his shoulder to ensure their privacy. The truth was he had been wanting to talk about his feelings for a while but frankly didn’t want others to get in the way. “(Y/n) is..she’s..she’s very special to me.” Paranoid by the silence, Strange couldn’t help but check over his shoulder once more. Cloak noticed his aura had beamed like it had when he spoke with (y/n) when he talked about her. But without the presence of facial features, it was difficult for Stephen to discuss the topic to his cloak. Realizing what he had just admitted, he quickly waved off the notion.
“Just-next Time she comes let me know, okay?” And with that, Stephen made his way around the corner and left the cloak alone in the corridor. It understood that he needed some time alone but it still sat there thinking.
Cloak wondered about this for a moment. If it protects it’s master and master protects (y/n), shouldn’t it be the one to protect her as well? If master doesn’t tell her this then they could both be in danger! Cloak couldn’t let that happen!
It was up to them!

A couple days passed and all seemed normal at 177 bleecker street. Stephen had been spending most of his days stuck in the library trying to avoid Wong’s chores for him. So cloak provided him with some company and carried out some of Wong’s chores for him. But it always kept an eye-or collar- on the portal to karma taj.
The cloak was carrying some books for Wong when it heard a noise. The portal! The books tumbled to the ground as the cloak zipped out of the room. Before even it knew it, the cloak had swung around the corner and saw (y/n) appear in the corridor. She gave the relic a sweet grin.
“Hey there, cloaky!” Her smile quickly faded as it launched toward her. She nearly fell as she tripped on her feet but before she could hit the ground the cloak completely wrapped itself around her.
“STEPH-“ she tried to shout but screamed as she was lifted off the ground and her through the hall. She could just barely see over the red fabric that covered her face. The walls were sprinting past like leaves in the wind. She wanted to muscle her wrists free so she could strike the relic but it was wound too tight for her to break free. After an exhilarating trip, the cloak finally released her causing the sorcerer to tumble to the ground. Grasping the carpet with her palms, (y/n) pushed herself up but quickly felt a pair of hands being placed on her shoulders.
“(Y/n)!? A-Are you okay?” She quickly recognized the crystal like eyes that stared deeply into hers. She had spent many days with Stephen in the past but had never quite noticed how beautiful his eyes were. Before she could respond, he pulled her to her feet and stopped toward the cloak.
“Out! Now! We’ll talk about this late-“ cloak whipped to the side twisting it’s fabric around Stephen’s arm and yanking him toward (y/n) who tried to escape the incoming scene. But her attempt was useless since cloak had already wrapped itself around her. It pulled the two sorcerers too close for comfort causing (y/n) to brace her wristlets to her chest, a barrier to keep from an embarrassing misplacement. Stephen let out an awkward yelp as he felt (y/n)pressed against his chest. God his cheeks were burning, he had to think of something-anything!
“WONG!” He shouted causing (y/n) to let out a nervous laugh. “WONG GET IN HERE NOW!” A few moments passed before Stephen continued his apologies trying to figure out an explanation but (y/n) couldn’t stop laughing.
“It’s fine Stephen!”
“No-it’s not! You don’t deserve to be blatantly attacked by the damn thing everytime you come here!” (Y/n) looked down at her wristlets and realized that the cloak had placed a small piece of fabric between them, seizing the mystical powers within the relics.
“It’s actually a really clever cloak..” Stephen perked up at this and finally brought himself to look (y/n) in the eyes. He wanted to ask her what she meant but was quickly interrupted by a fit of laughter erupting behind him.
“Wong! I swear if you’re behind this..”
“Gotten yourself tied up again stephe-“ Wong froze as he finally saw the full picture. His cheeks reddened at the sight of (y/n) being stuck between the two. Wong quickly slipped on a ring and excused himself as he pressed it on the fabric that was wrapped around (y/n)’s waist. A shock riveted through the cloak causing it to harshly release the two as it zipped into the air. Stephen held his arms out to catch (y/n) as she stumbled toward him. Now holding her by his own free will, Stephen couldn’t help but be enveloped by her comforting touch. Wong cleared his throat as he reached up and yanked the cloak down from the ceiling.
“I am terribly sorry ms (l/n), i can assure you that this will never happen again.” Wong’s eyes traveled back to Stephen as he dragged the reluctant relic out the door. On his way out, he quickly hissed at Stephen “You know what you have to do.”
Shoot. He did know what he had to do. But that didn’t mean he was ready to. Clearing his throat, Stephen gently released (y/n) and rubbed the back of his neck.
“That was..”
“Interesting.”
“Y-yes.. well I guess there’s no way around it..” (y/n) raised an eyebrow at this comment. Stephen’s eyes wandered for a moment.
“You..you understand how relics can be..when their master feels threatened or nervous..?” (Y/n) gave a slow but understanding nod. Stephen tried to put his thoughts together multiple times but basically ended up giving a great sigh.
“Look-I’m sorry about all of this. The thing is..the thing is is that I like you. A lot. And my relic seems to know that. But don’t worry-i completely understand if you don’t feel the same way..” there was a silence. A silence that slowly plunged a blade through Stephen’s pounding heart. (Y/n) simply stared, trying to comprehend the information. “Just..just forget about all of this..” he waved the air in defeat as he headed for the door. This wasn’t how he wanted to tell her at all. It was so rushed. So unnatural. He could hardly even think back at the memory due to the stinging embarrassment. Every step he took down the hall echoed meekly. Though a voice cut through the darkness.
“Stephen-Wait!” Crap. He didn’t want her pity, not now, how was he to know if anything she’d say was he true feelings? She’s too sweet to leave him hanging. He knew this. But feeling her soft hand cling to his causes a warmth to fill in his joints.
“(Y/n) seriously. You don’t have to-“ she held up her wristlet to his face so he could clearly see the embroidered metal.
“I know you don’t believe what I’m about to tell you, but surely this can prove otherwise.” She held her left one up to him, it had a checkered design scrawled across it. “This is what happens when I am touched by a friend. When Wong touched my arm earlier it shifted. This however..” She gently placed the cold metal on his cheek, causing the embroidery to shift in design to create an elegant work of art. “This only happens when I’m touched by you..” Stephen’s cheeks reddened as he studied the designs. “Like you said, relics can feel what their masters feel..” she gently smiled to break the tension and slowly leaned into Stephen’s embrace. It felt like the entire world had been lifted off his chest. This felt so right. He didn’t want to let go! Though he couldn’t help but feel as if they were being watched. He peaked open an eye and could clearly see the Cloak of levitation peaking its collar from behind the corner. It had fulfilled its duty.
