while the medical industrial complex still struggles to define, diagnose & treat fibromyalgia, i would, in the meantime, simply define fibromyalgia as the pervasive filter that stands between the sufferer and the life they miss out on.

exercise helps; if you can push through. life can still happen; if you can push through. you can still leave the house; if you can push through. you catch the drift.

some days you can’t push through, though. some days you can’t get out of bed. some days you hate your body. some days everything beautiful is so far away, and all you can muster is one foot in front of the other, while your hands feel like balloons, your fingers like chopsticks, your muscles like shit warmed over, and your lame work out feels like a fail, because you had to quit. or do something a little easier.

(i have such a hard time being easy on myself.)

so it’s imperative to remind oneself that on a day like that, trying at all is a success. showing up at all is a minor victory.

anyway. here’s a flower, from earlier at the park. i’m beat as hell. but nothing is permanent. not flowers, not us, not fatigue, not pain.

Levi’s will get the art rolling across the USA with the “Station to Station: A Nomadic Happening” train project American multimedia artist Doug Aitken has teamed up with Levi’s to launch a travelling art initiative, Station to Station: A Nomadic Happening, in the USA. Over three weeks in September, an unusual train designed as an art studio will be making stops in ten U.S. cities, bringing site-specific “happenings” and “cultural interventions” to each of destinations on the list. The project made possible by Levi’s, known for its passion for explorations and pushing the boundaries, will unite a roster of high-profile contemporary artists, musicians, filmmakers, writers, and chefs. The artistic team will be traveling by an Aitken-designed train that looks like a huge kinetic sculpture. It will be used both as a means of transportation and as a cultural studio—the unique content and experiences will be broadcast from the ten stops as well as from the moving train. http://bit.ly/17T6W8S
