p.s: please no arguing in my comment section.
The roomate thing was going amazing.
They cooked. He cleaned. Grocery shopping was on his shoulder because he didn't want them to carry the heavy bags, and they did the laundry, shirts drying together, sleeves touching, like their hands whenever they would watch something on TV while cuddling on the couch.
Domestic, much.
Just two friends living together.
Sometimes, when the movie night turned longer than expected, their head lolling onto his shoulder or chest, them asleep soundly, he would just lay there, still and quiet, letting them catch some rest. Insomnia was not welcome, not when he could easily remedy it, magic not necessary when he had the power of old comedies playing.
Sometimes, they would study together, stealing glances at their respective notes. He would end up with doodles on the notebook's margins, kitty faces, and hearts with cupid's arrows going through the middle. They would often find a note between the pages, a reminder to smile or drink some water, or text him back. Simple things friends did for each other.
They were best friends. They were content with that. He, was content with that.
So why was his hand shaking when he opened the door late at night, groggy and in his pyjama pants, looking at his best friend who had smudged glitter on their face, slightly tangled hair and few bruises on their neck that looked like hickeys?
"Sorry, I forgot my keys." he let them in, lockign the door as they stepped inside, wobbly on legs that danced for too long.
"How was it?" he could see, but the question was more out of being nice rather than the curiosity. Trying his best not to let his voice crack, he scratched at his neck, muffling a yawn.
"Good, actually. Can't believe I didn't want to go." oh he heard all of it, his ear being talked off as they complained.
It's too late. I will have to cancel my shift so I won't have enough cash by the end of the week. Exams are coming, I shouldn't be partying. You weren't invited, are you really sure I should go? Won't that be rude to you?
"There was a happy hour, and hey, there were so many nice people getting me drinks. The bartender was a nice guy too, he complimented my shirt." the one he helped them pick out one shopping spree ago. It matched their style and it looked good indeed. He told them that too, on so many occasions.
"That really sounds great." he couldn't stop eyeing their neck as they slumped down onto the couch, shoes kicked off and legs placed on the arm rest, back popping with a nasty sound.
They were just friends. He had no right to be jealous, even if he wanted to be. The whole world seemed to notice what he saw in them, the pretty eyes, cunning smile and charming face that melted his frustration the moment it turned to him, all flushed and teasing his senses that tingled.
"And there was..." they started waving their hands, pointing at the neck. He would listen to every gossip they would share, talk shit with them for hours. But he wouldn't stand listening to them talking about someone who manages to do that, while he was asleep in his own bed, unaware.
Best friend. He was just their best friend and that had to be enough.
"You can tell me that tomorrow, okay? You sure must be tired." half smile offered, he had to calm himself somehow. Sitting by them, they shifted around, immediately cuddling up to him, arms wrapping around his torso, head back to the spot it rested so perfectly on. Faint smell of booze lingering, masked with their perfume, they almost smelled so divine–
"I wish you could have gone with me." they hummed, voice muffled as they pushed closer, nose pressing against the freshly healed tattoo on his chest.
"Maybe next time." he would love that, actually. There was a new club opening soon, he could take them there. Get some drinks, dance a little, spend some time together that he wanted to have with them.
"Mhm... next time."
"Promise?"
"Of course. Now, let's get you out of those clothes and into bed." he would take care of everything. Pick them up, carry to the bathroom so they could wash their face and brush their teeth, bring them clean clothes to change into, lay them on the bed and leave a kiss on the forehead for better dreams.
Just as a good boyfriend would do. Right?

Bestie is sooooo "Carmen" by Lana coded. They are effortlessly gorgeous, always turning heads, making friends so easily and getting drinks just because.
All while Blake stands beside them, cursing at the world for noticing the same things he deemed perfect in them, hands clenching whenever someone got too close to what he wanted to have for himself only.
God Blake is such a pathetic yearner
Save the car, ride the mechanic(s) -Chapter 3 - Trekkin'n'Truckin'
(A little shorter so i can keep uploading and not burn out heheh)
Sam wandered further into the apartment. A decent sized kitchenette, a nice lounge area.
He whistled low at the size of the tv. He didn’t watch much tv himself but he could appreciate a good sized tv. Taking his hat off and hanging it on the back of the door, cringing slightly with how soaked through he was.
“Nice bathroom…” he noted, checking the fluffy white towels. Sam peeled the wet fabric away from his body and spread them out over the sink, scrunching and draining them as much as he could before hanging them over a radiator.
The shower sprung to life and Sam stepped in, groaning appreciatively at the scalding water. He soon warmed back up and his muscles and mind finally relaxed.
‘Thank you lord for the luck I received today.’
He prayed internally. Religion wasn’t really his thing but he knew he had to thank someone, and he’d already thanked Tank more than a couple times.
Speaking of, Sam felt heat flush to his face again as he planted his hands on the shower wall, the water running down his face.
They were… dangerous. Hot. Cute. But dangerous nonetheless. The smirks they threw at him were almost wolfish in nature, but he couldn’t deny the effect it had on him.
He hadn’t had a partner in a good long while, Vince was always trying to set him up with someone but it never lasted more than a first date.
Sam had thought he’d grown too old for romance but Tank? Showing up like some knight in leather-clad armour? With a demeanour Sam couldn’t help but find attractive.
And the way they felt under all that cloth… those muscles… that body. Sam shuddered thinking about it.
‘No… they are way too young for me… surely…’ He thought, rubbing water into his eyes.
He pumped one shot of shampoo into his hand from the dispenser, giving a sniff before shrugging and lathering up his hair.
Sam was in his 40s now. His time for random flings and crushes had long since been and gone.
But Tank… Tank was tempting he couldn't deny. Dangerously so. He may be oblivious to some things but the looks they were giving him was enough to make the southerner blush.
Sam rinsed his entire body down carefully, massaging the muscles in his arms, gently stretching his back out.
The muscles that covered his back rolled and tensed, the water running down them. He may not own his own chiselled abs but Sam Collins still worked out.
Knocking the shower off and wrapping a towel around his waist he slung another towel over his shoulders ruffling his hair as he headed back out into the main area.
And this was when he realised he’d made a fatal error. He had no clothes to change into. The ones he was wearing were still too soaked and he’d left the rest of them in his truck.
“Fuck…” He said out loud.
Then came a knock at the door and Sam’s heart nearly skipped a beat.
“Oh fuck…” he said again, frantically scanning the room. “Who is it?”
“Just your new favourite rider Sammy.” Responded a muffled voice. “Just- give me a sec Darlin’ I uh…”
“Take your time cowboy, I’m not going anywhere too fast.” Sam could practically hear a wink in Tank’s voice.
‘Fuck it’ He thought as he went to the door and opened it, looking up at Tank.
“Howdy Sam, sorry it took so long your… mmm.” Tank’s gaze dropped, their eyes eating up each pound of glistening wet flesh, their eyes stopping at the top of the low hanging towel, a long v-line dipping under the fabric and a trail of black hairs leading back up his abdomen.
They stepped back slightly, their eyes hungry as they looked him up and down slowly, taking in the wet pushed back hair, the toned arms leaning against the door frame.
“Well well well… you were holding back something delicious cowboy…” Sam chuckled lightly, a light pink coating his cheeks as he crossed his arms and relaxed a little.
“I ‘preciate the compliment Darlin’ but I’d rather not be stood half naked for much longer…” Tank’s eyes met him again, and he swore their pupils were dilated.
“Shame. I’m loving the view… but that wouldn’t be very hospitable of me would it. Here, I brought everything I could out of your truck. There’s more downstairs but… It seems I guessed correctly what state you’d be in when I knocked on your door.” They winked at him again. Tank passed him the handle of one suitcase and placed two more down. Sam hadn’t even realised they had two on their shoulder.
“It is gonna get colder tonight though, so while I'll be disheartened, you should wrap up well.” They turned away as Sam wheeled the three suitcase into the kitchen area, pushing the door to a close behind him. He threw one up onto the counter, fishing out a pair of boxers and another flannel top. He tried to find a pair of pants before another soft knock came at the door.
“Cowboy? I have the last of your suitcases.”
“Give me one secon’ Tank, I tried to put some actual clothes on.” “Oh no… you really shouldn’t put any more on, especially for me.” He could hear them pouting. “Oh ha ha Darlin’ you already seen enough of me as is…”
Sam threw the towel back around his waist.
‘Better than just boxers…’
He went back to the door, a flicker of disappointment crossed Tank’s face as their gaze dropped.
“Shame.” They said again pouting, handing him two more suitcases.
Sam wheeled them out of the way and went back to the door where Tank was waiting.
“Flirting aside Mr Collins. Your truck is at Dusk Mechanics, it’s a couple streets away but I’d say it’s still walking distance.” Tank zipped their jacket down, much to Sam’s, well something of Sam’s enjoyment, and dove their hand into the side, bringing out a card. They passed it to him, an Address and number written in dark blue neat font.
“Is this… your number?” He asked, reading it carefully. They smirked down at him, their eyes dropping slightly, mischief dancing in their eyes.
They leant down, pointing at the number.
“This one? Right here? Is it mine…?” They blinked innocently. Then snickered as they straightened back up. “No…that’s just the number for the garage… Why? Do you want my number Sammy?”
Sam groaned, he basically walked into that. Then he thought about it.
“Maybe I do Darlin’...” He flipped the card over, finding a pen in the flannel and first noting the number and address down on the back of his hand, then writing a different number on the blank side of the card.
“But I’ll offer you mine first, as a show of fairness.” Tank cackled slightly, taking the card back.
‘Oh my god, why did I do that…’ Sam thought, panicking internally. ‘I haven't flirted this much… well since never. Much less exchanged contact info, oh lord what if they're really a creep…’ He kept his face as neutral as he could but he felt sweat bead on his forehead. Tank must have noticed though because their gaze softened and they gently tucked the card away, focusing on him.
“Listen Sam… if this is too much, just tell me to fuck off, I won’t be hurt- well hurt that badly if you do. I really do just want to help. And I've been told many times that I am too much of a flirt even at the right time.” That look in their eyes set the old southerner's heart ablaze. Flirting was one thing but tenderness lit him up, his walls shook for the first time in years.
“I… I won’t deny it… this feels like a lot but- I’ve always done things slow, and I only met you 2 hours ago-”
“Ha, that’s fair. Well I’ll buzz off now anyway, gotta get a start on some other cars while yours dries out, Just wanted to make sure you felt welcomed.” They stuck their hand out again. “Welcome to Dahlia Sam Collins.” Sam took their hand, giving it a firm shake. “Thank you for the hospitality Tank Moon.”
Tank saluted him and walked off, Sam was a little disappointed to see they lost the saunter from earlier but he also appreciated it.
‘Your gettin’ too old for this Collins…’
He shut the door and routed through his suitcases again, finally finding some pants.
The music in the club vibrated the floors underneath the stools, the liquid in drink glasses rippling to the beat. It was damn near deafening, but there's the classic thing of the more people drink... the more the hearing goes, so naturally as the night went on, the music got turned up.
The Pack chose a couple of tables away from most people, just to hear each other talk if nothing else. Sam, Darlin', David, and Angel at one; Asher, Babe, Milo, and Sweetheart at the one close by, to the point of scooting the tables together to group up a little easier.
David felt a little bad about dragging Sam to another club, mostly because of how loud the music was, just to get told that the Vamp was ultimately used to it. David did not question what that meant, nor did he want to know.
Angel had one too many drinks and ended up clinging to their husband's side, and the others learned that when Angel was tipsy, they were even more affectionate. The others didn't even know that was possible.
Darlin' kept on strong, seemingly unaffected by everything. They've been to their fair share of these, so they get used to nursing drinks. And of course, their mate was even more unaffected by the drinks, but that was pretty obvious.
Sweetheart and Babe were trying to hear each other talk over the music, eventually giving up and texting to one another just to have some semblance of a conversation.
All while Milo kept glaring at anyone getting even within five feet of his mate. It took a bit for Sweetheart to catch on.
"Babe, if you keep that up, you're gonna burn a hole in someone."
"Good," he huffed, an arm around them at all times, "maybe it'd teach them not to fuck with me."
"C'mon, Milo," Ash traced around the rim of his drink, "no one is gonna be stupid enough to mess with you or your mate. Pretty sure we've all got enough of a reputation for people to know not to do something stupid."
"I still don't trust a damn person in this place. Not with the amount of booze that's flowin' through here."
"Sometimes I can't decide which one can get more jealous, you or David over there—"
"I heard that, Asher."
"How??"
"Your back is literally right there," David leaned back to look at the Beta, "you're not slick. And I do not get jealous."
Every single other one at the table, even Angel, gave him the same disbelieving look; just making him scoff and go back to talking with the ones at his table.
"Either way," Milo jabbed a finger towards the back of David, "he still beats me on that. I've heard him, everyone's heard him. I do not get jealous—"
"Bullshit," Ash, Babe, and Sweetheart all said in unison.
Milo gave his mate a heatless look, "Hey, you're supposed to be on my side!"
"Well, out of all people," they laid their head against his shoulder, "I know best that you definitely get jealous."
He ended up puffing out a huff instead of attempting to refute it, he really couldn't once he thought about it.
Ash went to stand from the table, "I'm gonna get this topped off," he held up his glass with a little shake of it, "I'll be back, don't miss me too much," he teased as he gave his mate a quick kiss before weaving through people and tables.
"How can he not spill any of that goin' through all those people..." Milo rolled his eyes, "Guess I don't got the knack for that shit, if I tried, I know I'd get my ass beat accidentally spillin' something on the wrong guy."
"Eh, I think you could take it," Sweetheart commented, getting a sip of their drink. "I believe in you, baby."
"I guess I'll take that sentiment in good heart that you think I'd win a fight against some drunk brawler."
"Drunk people feel no pain," Babe looked towards the dance floor then back to the table, "but they also have the coordination of a baby deer on ice, so yeah... You could take one on."
"Let's just hope I don't find out either fuckin' way, huh?"
Babe snorted and looked around to see if they could see Ash from where they were. There was way too many people to see him specifically, but they knew the general vicinity based on catching his voice every so often.
They noticed some random guy looking at them from across the club, instantly looking away.
Don't do the thing.
Don't do that damn thing.
Don't do that fucking thing of thinking they were flirting just catching the dude's eye for 0.5 seconds.
Don't do it...
"Hey there~"
Fucking hell, he did the thing...
Babe tried to ignore the voice behind them, maybe if they ignored him, he'd go away...
"The name's Devin," the guy continued, taking Asher's chair to sit.
God fucking damn it.
"So..." Devin leaned over, "what's your name, huh?"
Babe eyed him suspiciously, giving the guy a once over before carefully saying their name. The guy repeated it a few times, as if he was trying it out.
"Ay, dickhead," Milo snapped his fingers a few times, "if ya ain't noticed, we didn't wantcha here, and besides," he sat back with a snort, "they're fuckin' married."
"Married, huh?" Devin acted like he didn't believe it, "I don't see a ring."
"Maybe open your god damn eyes and get ya head outta your ass," Milo muttered into his drink as he sipped on it, and thankfully, the music drowned his words out, "takes two fuckin seconds to look...
Babe instead held up their ring hand to show that they weren't kidding. "Two years."
"Oh yeah?" The guy got dangerously close to them. "Then where's the fabled husband, huh? I don't see him."
"Turn around."
The guy rolled his eyes and turned, having to look up to see a stone faced Asher.
The beta's lip quirked up in a sarcastic sneer, "Now you see him."
Devin gave him a once over, "I don't see much."
Milo was about to jump the guy, but his mate held him back; David stayed quiet, eyeing the interaction in the corner of his eye while Sam and Darlin' gave the creep a glare.
Ash could tell the guy was unempowered based on the lack of a core, so he was going to give him the benefit of the doubt. He was going to try and be nice... Nah.
"I'm gonna say this once, and once only," he bent down to get up in the guy's face as he growled out a low, teeth bared in a warning, "get... the fuck... away from them..."
Instead of having the effect Ash wanted, the guy just scoffed, "Or else what? Huh? You don't look all that tough."
Ash didn't look insulted but oh he felt it. His expression barely changed as he straightened up. "Wanna bet?"
"Yeah," the guy egged him on, "I do, actually. Bet you a round of drinks that you can't do sh—iiiiit—hey!! Let go, you fucking asshole!!"
Before the entire threat went through, Ash grabbed the front of the guy's shirt and yanked him up. He ended up holding the guy up about a foot or so off the ground, eyes nearly glowing in the dim lighting.
"One last time. Fuck. Off."
Ash slung him to the side, the guy stumbling a few steps before hitting into a group that was dancing... To which the group of clearly sloshed attempts of dancers let the guy have it instead.
Ash brushed himself off before taking his seat again, his expression immediately changing, "Hey, didn't spill my drink, cool!"
Meanwhile, the others looked stunned. Even David.
"Damn, Ash," Milo was impressed, "didn't know you had that in ya."
"The only thing I have in my is a few drinks and some leftover energy from a few Red Bulls earlier," Ash shrugged it off, getting a long sip of his drink of choice.
"Nah, I'm serious," Milo shook his head, "I've never seen you like that before in my life!"
"I didn't even know you could do that, "David chimed in as he sat back in his seat, "and yet there's still people wondering why I chose you as my Beta. They haven't seen that side of you before."
"I don't like showing it, I'll be honest," Ash tapped along the glass, "it just... I dunno, makes me sound like a dick."
His attention turned to his mate when they propped their chin on his shoulder. He glanced over to see them smirking.
"I personally think it's hot~"
Ash felt heat rise to his cheeks, burning the tips of his ears, "Ye-yeah? You do?"
"Mmmhmmm..." They tugged on his collar to pull him down close, "Very~"
The two felt like it was just them until David cleared his throat and Sam finally spoke up.
"Keep it in your damn pants, for fuck's sake..."
I cant sleep so I wrote about these two <\3
——————————
It was around 1 am when Sam decided to start up the tv, boredom and restlessness itching at his skin. Something is keeping him awake, but he just doesnt know what.
He mindlessly scrolled through the channels until he found something he’s watched a hundred times over. He just needed something to watch so he could fall asleep faster.
After a series of episodes and a couple advertisements, Sam started to drift off. Until..
He heard some familiar footsteps, and a knock at the door.
He perked up immediately and went over to open the door, knowing it cant be good considering the time. Darlin stood at his doorstep, looking awkward and disheveled.
“Hey.. did I wake you? ‘M sorry, I just-“
“Come in.”
They stood there for a second until they walked past the doorframe. Sam closed the door behind them, scanning them as he did.
Darlin couldnt believe they were actually doing this.
They opened their mouth and closed it. Then opened it again. “I don’t.. Uhm.. usually do this.” They had their arms at their sides, their hands clenching and unclenching. They were looking down and to the side, averting his gaze.
“What’s wrong, Darlin’?” They wanted to just walk out the door and pretend they never did this.
“I…I cant sleep.” Darlin had said it with such force, like they were embarrassed for even uttering those words. Feeling like a child waking up their parents over something so small.
Sam blinked. He thought this night was going to go differently, honestly. With the reputation Darlin held with getting hurt and going to him to get healed, he had the right to think tonight was going to be another one of those nights.
That was, until he noticed they werent bleeding and they looked just as sleep deprived as him. He calmed down a little, knowing he wont have to be using magic tonight.
“Th-that’s.. what you came here for?”
“I know it’s.. it’s stupid. But, I enjoy your company Sam. And.. you’re the only person I know who would be up at this time. So…”
With that, he couldnt help but smile. “Well, you’re not the only one who cant get some shut-eye.” He let out a lazy chuckle, and there was a slight pause. “Y-you wanna, uhm, sit on the couch with me?” Darlin’ stared up at him. “Yeah, I’d like that.”
He walked them over to his couch and sat down. Darlin’ shuffled a little closer to him, wanting as little distance between them as possible.
“Here, let me…” Sam threw his blanket over both of them, making sure to tuck Darlin’ as much as possible by his side. “How’s that?” Darlin yawned and settled in.
“Mm’so warm. I could fall asleep right now.” Sam chuckled at that. “Looks like I got the job done then, huh?” He said as he wrapped his arm around them. They looked so comfortable already. Just a couple minutes ago they were at his front door looking like they hadn’t slept a minimum of 2 days.
He started to get tired on his own now, too. With Darlin’ at his side and some backround noise coming from the tv, he felt more at peace, and his nerves died down. This was what he needed tonight, Darlin just beat him to it.
“Hey, Darlin’?” He rubbed their shoulder as they let out a noise of acknowledgment. “Dont ever feel embarrassed for comin’ t’me for help. Any kind. Ever since that night.. you know you can always count on me.” He pressed a kiss to their temple, something he recently found out they liked.
Darlin felt their cheeks flush a little but they tried their best to be discreet about it, using the blanket as cover. “Mhm.” Their hold on Sam got a little tighter, but he didn’t say anything, nor did he mind.
This was just an excuse to come and cuddle on my chest. Cute…
After some time, Sam could hear their breath becoming more deep and their body going limp. He decided to turn off the tv, and enjoy the silence with his favorite person in a deep sleep right next to him. He rested his head on top of theirs gently, and took in their scent.
Smells like vetiver and sandalwood.
Do yall think any of the wolves or even the vamps agreesively sniff their partners once their back from being away for more then a day?
Cuz my pets do-
Personally a big fan of the shifters taking on more animalistic tendencies.
Reblog to bonk your mutuals on the head every time they start thinking negatively about themselves
specifically this kind of bonk.
I said it before and I’ll say it again. The Shaw Pack needs to spar with each other. For educational purposes obviously and not because they’d all be hot, sweaty, focused, panting…
What was I talking about?
Honwslty because im still in love with the other Aus, all I cna think are the characters meeting their alternate versions.
Prime!Sam beating the shit out of Imp!Sam while Fool!Sam just stands there like; 🧍♂️
Fool!Freelancer cuddling Fool!Gavin from behind while Prime!Freelancer fauns over how cute he is and Imp!Freelancer noting the glasses. And then Prime!Gavin also approaching, his arm over Imp!Gavins/Vindemiators shoulder who looks a little flustered, cuz i feel likes hes to type to flirt with himself.
Prime!Lasko just terrified of Imp!Lasko.
Prime!Huxley and Imp!Huxley glaring each other down
Imp!Asher just staring at Prime/Fool!David who are both watching all three Angel's. (Prime/Fool both just hugging Imp)
Prime!Guy just getting on Fool!Guy's nerves.
Imp!Milo would HATE Fool!Milo I fear, with Prime!Milo just holding him back.
In my mind David and Tank are both native and look just enough and act enough alike that people who don't know them assume they're related.
Neither of them ever correct anybody, nor will either of them admit it makes them both happy.
Blake often found himself in the cafe by the academy, accompanied not only by a choice of new blend of coffee beans, but also his beloved best friend, always following, like a shadow of his own being.
They were inseparable since the first meeting. Classes, student accommodation, free time, it was all shared. So he wasn't surprised when they told him they would go with him, wanting a break from the campus. Their presence was always, more than welcome for him.
"I have an idea." they hummed, taking out the lollipop with a loud "pop", cherry flavouring left on their lips, glistening in the sunlight from the window they were sitting by. The chair they were occupying, opposite him so he could stare at them shamelessly, creaked a little when they shifted around, twirling the candy between their fingers.
He stopped for a moment, packet of cinammon in his hand, tear to open it halfway done. The coffee he ordered had a strong, hazelntu smell, one that they frowned upon, nose turning around. He swore by a simple order, just a black one, one packet of cinammon, and that was it. No milk, no sugar, much to their disgust.
Barbaric, they said, while ordering their own, latte art done in the shape of an intricate swirl. The barista certainly had a vision while making it, even if it left them unamused, eyes only on Blake.
"What is it?" his voice may have not sound like it, but he was interested. He always was, he just tried his best to do two things at the same time, the packet's content dropped with precision not to spill it on the table. He stirred the coffee, taking a sip as he looked them straight in the eyes.
"You're going to drink it like that?"
"What's wrong with my coffee?"
"It's...bitter. There's nothing good in it."
"That's the whole thing. Tell me about the idea and insult my choices later." Turning the conversation back on the track, he wrapped his hands around the mug, warming them a little. It wasn't a cold day, but they always did so, no matter the weather. And they looked adorable while doing so.
"We're both single, am I right? No one in sight, no one is looking for anything right now." The right track made him cough a little, being taken more than by surprise. What was initially started as he thought to be a simple conversation suddenly turned serious.
He blinked, setting the mug down, eyes a little bleary as he tried to clear his throat. Muttering "too hot" as an excuse to save his face, he nodded at them to go on.
"We can make a pact." they weren't making it any easier on him with every word that spilled from their mouth, the lollipop once again, taken in, bulging their cheek a little.
"A pact?" he asked confused when his voice finally returned to him.
"If we are still single by 34, we're getting married."
What?
"What?" this had to be a joke of some sorts.
"Fine. If we're 34... or maybe 30, we're ending up together. We buy a house or an apartment, we get a cat and other stuff. Relationship stuff. You catch my drift?" The amount of confidence they spoke with made him dizzy.
No, he didn't catch their drift. He thought he misheard, his head a mess of their voice and his sight trying to come out and jump into the future to see if that would come to be.
The coffee was laced with something for sure. It had to be.
"Mhm" was all he could muster in his shell shock. So what if he agreed, it's not like it was a bad deal anyway. Just, surprising, to say the least, blurted so calmly they might as well told him their favourite colour.
It's not like he didn't know it anyway. Of course he did. He listened.
"Good. It's settled then." they reached for his coffee and took a sip, their mouth twisting in a grimace at how poorly it tasted, immediately trying to mask it up with the cherry of the lollipop.
"So don't look too hard, 'kay?"
Save the car, Ride the mechanic(s) - Chapter 2 - Wierd... Hot stranger.
Here's Chapter 2 ^^ Like i said ill be posting the ao3 link first and then the full text day after ^^
The bike and its rider slowed to a stop beside Sam truck, the wheels grinding down into the concrete.
The rider looked at him and then tilted their head, looking past him at his truck.
They killed their own engine and leant back.
“Do you need some help sir?”
Sam nodded.
“Yeah, my fault for drivin’ durin’ a storm really…”
Sam nearly missed it but he swore he heard a short chuckle from behind the darkened helmet.
“Yeah…. not a smart choice. Mind popping the hood and I'll take a look?” The biker dismounted, waving a hand towards the hood.
Sam put his hands up in defeat.
“Be my guest, lord knows I know nothin’ about cars.”
This time he knew he heard the rider laugh under their helmet.
He lifted the hood as they flicked their visor up, he only caught a glimpse before they leant down.
Sam took note of the white hair and narrow silver eyes.
The rider slipped their right glove off before slipping it down into the centre of mechanisms, feeling around gently.
“Ah…” they said quietly, as if they found exactly what they were looking for.
“What is it?” Sam enquired leaning in.
The rider turned their gaze to him, retrieving their hand.
This time he got a much clearer look at their face. And his first guess wasn't wrong.
Their eyes were indeed silver. A light grey that he swore reflected the lights of his headlights as they turned to him. Small whips of white hair sprouted from under the helmet, hung over their face, sticking to their skin.
Once they finished turning to face him, he was so close he noticed a small scar peeking out above their eye and another crawling up their cheek.
“Well, Cowboy… your engine just got too wet is all. I'd recommend turning everything off and letting it fully dry out over 48 hours and then seeing the full extent of the damage.”
Their voice was a lot clearer this time. From their visor being up or their close proximity Sam couldn't tell.
“Yeah, that's on me for drivin’ through too many puddles…”
They straightened up to their full height, leaning an arm against the raised hood. This one movement allowed Sam to appreciate how tall they really were, he wasn't a short man by any means, but this stranger practically towered over him, water running off their helmet and dripping onto his hat.
“But uh… I don't think it's gonna dry much out here, aye cowboy?”
Sam blinked, that nickname again. Then he nodded. He looked back at their bike. It sure was an impressive piece of kit, big enough for three big guys on it, but no bike could toe a truck his size.
“Mmm.” He hummed in agreement. “I don't su’pose you have your own truck hidden in a pocket somewhere?” He asked in a joking manner.
The stranger chuckled lightly.
“No. Unfortunately I don't. Were you heading into Dahlia? I could give you a lift into town, then I'll borrow one of my boss's trucks to come get it.”
Sam looked at them, a flicker of hesitation on his face. He doubted they wanted to do anything nefarious because they already had him out there on his own. He turned to look at the lights of Dahlia in the distance.
The stranger must have sensed his hesitation though because they relaxed and stepped back a bit.
“Sorry how rude of me, Tank Moon, mechanic by night and sleeper by day.” They stuck out their hand, their smile visible in their eyes.
He tilted his head slightly. Confusion etching into his face. Tank sighed.
“No. My parents weren't insane, I changed my name when I left them as a teenager.”
Sam's eyes widened, then he took their hand.
“Samuel Collins. Real Estate manager for Solaire Property Management and… a guy who hates driving durin’ the day. And… who ran away from his parents as a teenager… I didn't change my name though…”
They shook hands, a mutual feeling of understanding and similarity now connecting them. Tank laughed lightly.
“Can't really blame you for driving at night though. It's normally quieter on the roads, allowing me to be a little more reckless…”
They winked at him as they chuckled lightly.
Sam felt something stir in his heart when they laughed. He couldn't see their mouth but he saw the joy dancing in their eyes.
They took their hand back and shut the lid of his hood, moving around the truck and snatching the sun glasses hung off his sun blind.
“These will come in handy…”
They killed his engine fully and shut his door.
Sam raised an eyebrow.
“Lock your truck. Don't want anyone breaking in while we are gone.”
Sam nodded, searching for his keys in his pocket and clicking them at his truck, turning to Tank's bike.
They walked around it and sat down, reaching up and unclipped their helmet. Tank pulled it over their head, long white hair tumbled past their shoulders and Sam got a good look at their face.
Two long scars went from their hairline down to their lips, but it was patchy. Either from how it healed or from the attack. Two drops of rain ran down them, the darkened crevices within Tank’s skin carving them a clear path.
Sam stepped closer, reading their entire face. He noticed another scar peeking out from their collar. They turned to him, holding out their helmet.
He saw more marks on their wrist, curling scars revealed by their rolled up sleeve.
He took the helmet gently, absorbed in his thoughts, taking notes of every little detail.
Sam stared closer into their eyes, the light grey meeting his dark brown. They were young. Much younger than him but their face held a story. One he thought looked much too mature and aged for someone their age.
“You gonna keep getting lost in my eyes Mr Collins or we gonna get out of the rain?”
Sam blinked, heat rushing to his face.
“Sorry! Sorry just. Uh…. Distracted?” He laughed it off then looked down at the helmet in his hands.
“Uhhh?” He looked at them through his eyelashes.
Tank stood up slightly from their bike, taking his hat off and placing it on their own head, then slid his glasses over their eyes.
“I'm not gonna let you ride without… protection, cowboy.” He felt them wink at him again from behind those tinted lenses. The heat stayed in his face as he slid on their helmet.
Tank held out their hand again and Sam took it as he jumped up onto the bike behind Tank, thinking carefully.before putting his hands on their sides, trying to stay back just enough not to be pressed into them.
“Where to, Sammy?” He felt his chest ache a little at that nickname. It wasn't one he'd heard in a while.
“Uh the Vesta housin’? It's on the outskirts I believe…”
Tank nodded.
“I know it. I stayed there a couple times myself.” The engine of the bike roared to life. “Let's get out of this rain.”
The bike started moving and Sam instinctively shuffled forward a bit, pressing his front into Tanks back.
He looked back at his truck one last time as it vanished around the cliff side.
They picked up speed as Tank revved the engine. Sam's hands crawled further and further around Tank's waist, pressing himself further into their back. Rain ran off his shoulders and hit his hands as he locked them together around Tank’s mid section.
He felt their muscles under the clinging fabric.
‘Well the name Tank fits for sure…’
He thought to himself.
He felt the years of work done under their shirt, a large pack of abs and toned sides to match, the large shoulders he rested his head against were nothing to laugh at.
He nearly let his hands wander with his mind as he got lost in their warmth. How were they still so warm in this rain, he couldn’t tell.
The trees blurred past as they approached Dahlia, the lights of the city sparkling through the trees. The smell of wood and wet grass overwhelmed his senses, Sam had visited forests before but they weren’t a setting he frequented often. Some would call him a City boy, and he didn't travel much. If it wasn’t for the fact his work was mainly remote, he’d visit more places. Dahlia had always been on his list of cities to visit, especially since it was the place Solaire Estates came from. Vincent lived here as well, Sam promised he’d visit eventually, just never got around to it.
He felt Tank take a long deep breath and sign with content, their entire mass expanding and deflating gently. The tenseness in their shoulders dripped away.
Sam tried to mimic their state, breathing in nature and relaxing. But he couldn't, he hadn't ridden a bike or even been on a bike in 20 years.
‘I ain’t sittin’ on one of those… deathtraps.’ He’d told Vincent when he needed a lift from Vincent’s partner. The most he’d ridden on one was when he was in college and that was a night of… teen’s being teens. The rain running down the helmet’s visor scattered the lights of Dahlia even more as buildings started mixing with the trees. Darkened homes and shut businesses, but the streetlamps still cast a beautiful light upon the falling rain.
Tank slowed down as the city grew denser, less and less forestry and more concrete. They took sharp but precise turns, keeping pace and control. They knew this city inside out, a little storm wouldn't be much of a hassle to navigate through.
The turned onto a much wider street, a tall dark purple building looming over the rest, a bright sign read ‘Vesta Rest’ above a bright red double door.
Tank slipped down the slide of the building into a very well hidden carpark.
‘Guess they weren’t lyin’ when they said they’d been here before…’
Tank jumped off the bike after kicking their stand down and killing the engine. They turned and offered their hand to Sam again who took it as he slid off, his knees nearly giving out though with how tense he was.
“Thanks… I haven't ridden a bike in a very long time…” He admitted. Tank nodded at him, rain dripping off his hat.
“I wasn’t going to say anything but- I could tell.” They laughed lightly. “Come on, Vesta has a back door here so we don’t have to walk around the entire building. Stars know we are wet through enough.”
Sam slipped off the helmet and followed Tank into the building. They wandered through to corridor’s to the front desk where a bored looking receptionist glanced over their phone. Tank leant on the desk, water very quickly soaking the wood.
The receptionist raised an eyebrow, a flicker of disappointment on their face.
“Smartass.”
“Jackass.”
A grin found its way onto Tank’s lips as they stood back up. The receptionist chuckled lightly as they stood and shook Tank’s hand.
“How have you been tall, brooding and reckless? Finally got a good place?” The receptionist asked warmly, an air of familiarity filling the space.
“I’m doing good, Smartass. Enjoying this storm right now… and the company it brings.” Tank released their hand and turned to look at Sam.
He swept the rain from his face and stepped forward.
“Hiya there I have a reservation for the next couple months here?”
The receptionist moved to a nearby computer. “Of course, can I get a name please?” “It should be under Samuel Collins.” They typed on their screen, pushing their glasses up the bridge of their nose.
While the computer loaded, Tank went to the front door and batted Sam’s hat with their hand, kicking some of the rain off it and returned it to him, trading him for their helmet back.
“Hmm…” a flicked of confusion crossed the receptionist's face. “I’m so sorry sir but I don’t see a ‘Samuel Collins’ in our books.” They pushed their glasses on to the top of their head.
Sam gave them a bewildered look before scratching his head and putting his hat back on, giving Tank a small thanks under his breath.
“We do still have some rooms available though. But only for a couple days I'm afraid…” “That can’t be right… Vince confirmed the bookin’ with me last night…” A shiver shook his voice slightly.
“Wait a minute, isn’t this a job? Wouldn't your company have managed the booking cowboy?”
He turned to look at them, then back at the receptionist. He sighed deeply and pinched the bridge of his nose. “I hope he didn't but…could you look for a…ha… Sammy … Samuel… Duke?” He hesitated on the nickname, holding the back of his neck with his hand.
They went back to their computer. “Ah yes, Samuel Duke C, with Solaire Property management?”
“Fuck sake Vince…” Sam muttered, putting his hands on his hips and huffing slightly. “Yeah, that’s it- unfortunately…”
“Pft… Duke?” Tank giggled as they shook his glasses off.
“Darlin- how was I supposed to know my man’ger would use my middle name against me like this? He’s the only one I work with who even knows it!”
Tank laughed again to themselves as the receptionist passed Sam the necessary forms and handed him a key.
“Okay okay, im done… Dukey-” Tank cackled again. “You're in room 008.” “Thank you mx…” Sam bowed his head slightly as he took the key. “Sorry for draggin’ in all this rain…”
The receptionist waved him off as they headed to the door of their office. “Okay no really i am done… alright. I can show him to his room Smartass.”
“Knock yourself out bitey, I'm staying here in my toasty office.” They said, sitting back down.
Tank beckoned Sam to follow them down another hallway and up some stairs.
They stopped outside a green door with golden numbers.
“Your temporary abode awaits, cowboy.”
“Thank you Tank, this and… everythin’. Only lord knows where’d I be right now if… if you hadn’t found me.”
Tank smiled down at him as he unlocked the door and opened it wide.
“Probably…” They leant their arm against the doorframe and lowered their neck, their eyes meeting his. “In the clutches of a wolf… there’s a lot of them around here Sammy.”
Sam nodded. “I heard the rumours.”
Tank smiled, gentler this time. Less wolfish.
“Listen… I’m still on shift. Throw me your keys and I'll go get your truck to my work and get it drying out.”
He fished his keys once again and passed them over.
“Thanks.” He returned their smile as another shiver passed through him.
“And you-” They straightened back up, a tone of care in their voice. “- should warm up. The showers here are amazing and I don't want my new friend to get hypothermia.” Tank patted the brim of his hat and sauntered off, his keys spinning around their finger.
Sam laughed a little to themselves, feeling the lightest he had all week as he watched Tank disappear around the corner.
"Darlin', there ain't no way in every circle of Hell I'm gonna letcha in the house lookin' like a drowned rat."
The wolf that stood before him was covered in dripping mud and water, a few twigs stuck in the thick fur. Their eyes glared at him, he knew what he'd get told if they could talk like this.
"It's either you shift back and get a fuckin' shower," Sam crossed his arms and stood firm, "or I hose ya off right here, right now. Take your fuckin' pick."
They snarled, which to someone else, it'd look intimidating and threatening. But to him? He knew it's just because his mate wasn't getting their way and they're throwing a little fit about it.
"One way or another, you're gettin' cleaned up because I ain't havin' you trek mud all over the goddamn place."
A low growl, their teeth bared at him.
"Ohhh, so ferocious, darlin'," he snarked back at them, on his way to hook up the hose, "practically quakin' in my damn boots."
Once the hose was hooked up, he went up the steps. Immediately turning and pointing at them, he gave them a look. "Sit."
They did, realized that they did, and the look of disbelief on their wolf face had him snickering.
"That's my darlin'."
As much they hated being told what to do, the praise got their tail lightly thumping against the ground. It really didn't take all that much to get to them, not with him.
He came back with a bottle of their kind of shampoo, figuring it'd work on their fur the way it'd work on their hair.
Getting the hose, he tested the nozzle a couple of times. "C'mon, c'mere." He gestured for them to trot over so he could pluck the twigs from their fur, managing to find a few rocks in the midst of the mess. "What... in the hell did you even get into— is this moss—?"
They huffed a chuff at him, looking rather proud of their accomplishment. They ended up finding a few puddles after it rained last, wallowed around in it, and ended up an absolute mess. As one does when they can shift into a wolf and run around.
Once they were free of debris, he started up the hose again. "It's gonna be cold so it'll take longer to rinse," he ruffled up their fur, "but I'm sure you don't mind, since you're the one wantin' this to begin with instead of takin' the easy route of shiftin' back."
They snorted at him, shaking themself off a little to loosen their fur up. Yeah, it's obvious that this has happened before.
He had to change the nozzle to a stronger setting to start the first soak. Watered down mud dripped down their legs to the ground below, creating a puddle again under them. That could easily be rinsed off later.
It felt like a massage to them, the pressure of it working straight to their muscles. They kept tilting their head around with happy grunts, their tail gently wagging.
The sight, Sam could never get over. They always looked so in their element when they were shifted, as if they were meant to be a wolf instead of having to deal with a human body.
Once they were partially rinsed, he popped the cap open on their shampoo. They looked over at him with narrowed eyes, making him chuckle.
"I ain't gonna waste your damn stuff, I promise," he held his hand up to swear on it, "if I have to, I'll get you some more, sound like a deal?" He started scrubbing it into their fur, "I say again, coulda saved the effort and shifted back, y'know."
They turned their head away with a huff. Yeah, he figured as much.
As much as they liked the hose, this had to be better. They so wanted to shake but they decided to be nice and let him massage the shampoo into their fur.
Darlin' nearly swayed standing there from how relaxing it felt. It's one thing that they can nearly fall asleep from a head massage, but in this form? It takes more effort to try and stay awake than to give in.
Sam had to rinse his hands off, shaking the excess water off, "A'ight, ready?"
They pattered around impatiently. Yep. They were ready.
With a light snort and an eye roll, he held the trigger down to start power washing them off, his other hand ruffling their fur up to really get down to rinse suds off. It got to the point that he had to bump the setting up to a stronger one to get down to skin so it wouldn't leave residue in.
"And if you shake as soon as soon as I turn this off," he warned, leaning over to give them a look in the eye. If they weren't in this form, he knew they'd be smirking, he can just sense it.
It took longer than he really expected to rinse them completely off, given it's cold water, but that meant more pressure washing for them.
By the time he was done, they looked like a drowned rat. Fur plastered down, dripping onto the grass and dirt under their paws
As he got the water shut off and the hose drained out, he got it wrapped back up, "You stay your ass right there, I'll get a towel," he went back over to give them that same warning look, "got i— Darlin'!!"
Despite the incessant warnings, they stood there and shook their fur out, spraying water everywhere... Mostly on him.
Once sopping wet, they stood there still damp, but not to the dripping stage. Sam, however, was soaked. Even as a wolf, the look they had was devilish seeing his formerly white shirt cling to his skin and highlight all of what they love to see; his hair dripping water down his face with silvery eyes giving them a look.
"Didya not hear the umpteen times I told ya not to do that?"
They snorted a short sound as they padded back over to the steps, careful to get to the mat in front of the door to get some excess mud and water off.
Sam sighed heavily and trudged along behind them, wringing his shirt out as he went along, "You're so damn lucky you're cute," he muttered as he slung the drenched tee off to wring out, earning a few thumps of their tail against the wall. He snorted, "Brat..."
He managed to get past them to get inside and grab a towel, draping his shirt over the shower in the meantime to dry out. He came back to finish drying them — and himself — off. Or at least enough to not get water on the floors.
They weren't completely fluffy by the time he allowed them back inside, but enough that he knew it wouldn't get the couch wet. But as soon as they came in, they sat to wait for him to toss the towel into the hamper.
He paused when he came back, seeing them sitting there, tail thumping, an evil glint in their wolfish eyes. "What d'ya have planned now, I know that look."
They simply lifted their head and gestured to the couch.
He didn't trust it. Though, he still went over to sit on the couch, getting situated in his usual spot.
They trotted around to hop up with him, laying their head up against his chest...
To shift back.
Completely naked.
By now, he was beyond used to it, but that didn't mean it doesn't get to him.
"So that's why y'couldn't shift back, hm?" He sat back to let them get up on him.
Their grin was downright sinful, "It'd be a little awkward, yeah. What, don't like it?"
"Ohh-ho," he clicked his tongue, running it over his fangs, "you know damn well I love it. And now that you're all clean..."
In one motion, they were pressed down into the cushions, a glow to his eyes as he leaned over them.
"How 'bout we get a lil' dirty, hm?"
I just know darlin looked like this as soon as they got Sam wet
