It was a strange sight seeing the two of them, they almost seemed familiar. Yet they were born into different circumstances, different city-states and that was enough to make them vastly different people. Slowly he picks up a pen and starts to write on a piece of paper in front of him, before pausing and looking back up at the Demacian.

“Maybe you can, but you’re worthless here. Even the Demacian’s must sense how worthless you are, or you wouldn’t be here, you’d still be fighting.”

Darius wasn’t dumb, the Demacian’s wouldn’t send a mere soldier to Noxus for this task. So she must be something more, something like an envoy or diplomat, she’d fought for Demacia and when they thought she couldn’t any more, they’d removed her from the front line. It almost made Darius feel pity for the woman in front of her, she must feel so worthless, so weak.

“Don’t treat me like a fool, neither side wants a war here. If Demacia wants to attack some young recruits then go ahead, you’ll trigger a war and lose many soldiers over what? A band of twenty teenagers learning how to cope with the heat of a desert. Hell, I bet half of them are dehydrated and probably malnourished, yet, here you go on about killing them. You say we’re the warmongers, interesting.”

Once more the General starts to write on the piece of paper, this time he starts to talk whilst he writes, “They’ll be gone within the week, that was your original terms was it not? The King of Shurima is a separate matter and not one we will begin to talk about now, Demacian.”

“If I was worthless to Demacia, I’d be dead. I care not of what worth I have here in Noxus,” Vidrina responded bluntly, her expression blank. “I do not need your sympathy... And not everyone who does not fight is worthless; what is a great nation without political ability? An anarchy, that’s what.” There was an awkward pause before Vidrina spoke again.

“I am not saying we intend on killing them. It was simply a matter of them being too close; if they are gone as you say they will be, there is no more to discuss on the matter. Is there anything Noxus needs from Demacia, since I’m here?”

Perils of the Road

There was confidence in that voice, confidence born of faith. He wondered briefly for a moment whether he was visible- but if there was one thing good about this form, it was the fact that he could blend into the reeds, should he want to.

Now, he felt, was not a time to be hiding. Hiding was distrustful- and if there was one thing he did not want to appear to be, it was distrustful. If anyone was going to make a deal, they had to trust him.

He stepped out from the reeds, slowly- bursting out would probably not be wise. He’d probably end up missing a limb.

“But where are my manners, of course…” he began. “Introductions are always important. It’s always good to know what manner of creature you happen to be talkin’ to.” He took a bow, hoping his manners would alleviate any misgivings.

“Folks call me the River King.”

Vidrina looked at the creature before her with curiosity. She wasn’t sure what to make of him, but something in her told her to leave immediately. She quelled that part of her, but didn’t ignore it; she was ready to bolt at a moments notice... But as it stood there was no immediate danger. The two were still some distance away – for the better Vidrina thought.

“Pleasure to meet you River King. My name is Vidrina. Vidrina Driftkeeper,” replied with a slight nod, a little disappointed at hour rough her own voice sounded after the eloquent one before her. “What business have you in these parts, sir? I’m not sure I’ve seen you before, in any place really.”

The sound of her armour rustling against each other just confirms his guess. A military woman, it wasn’t unusual just- these people were more of Kristoffer’s crowd. Not his.

“Just the one stack? My- I worry how many you’d be dealing with when you’re actually busy. But yes, work can stay at work.”

Alexander takes a deep breath, the day was pleasantly warm, he could hear the buzz of activity in the park, children laughing and playing around, parents and friends chatting up a storm elsewhere and people like him, who took their own silence to listen to everyone else.

“Do you play music, Vidrina?” He asked, he knew next to nothing about this woman, other than her name, and that she was someone high up the ladder in Demacia’s military. Either she’s of noble blood or has done exceptionally well to gain such rank, or both.

The soldier looked up in thought. Did she play music?

“I sing sometimes, but I’ve got no talent for it,” she chuckled slightly, remembering her awful tone. The man next to her was silent, seeming to be taking in the beautiful day around them. Vidrina felt slightly odd, sitting next to a noble she had no business to speak of with. Not that it was uncomfortable, just unusual.

“I apologize again for interrupting your day, I’m sure you have better things to do than chit chat with me,” she moved to leave, feeling a little too warm in her uniform. “Do keep playing your music, It’s quite nice.
