some highlights from the last few Pasta Nights. the food adventures continue as well.
the traveling never stops...
ran home to surprise everybody. fried chicken. haircuts. quality time.
you know. that kind of thing. that kind of perfect, perfect thing.
plus... things aren't so bad here.
i have to say - i got a pretty good welcome home.
the only photos from my last friday night in europe. may they teach you three important lessons:
1. stay hydrated
2. include plenty of fresh fruit in your diet
3. have fun.
see you soon, 'murricah.
the view of the bay when i took a stuffy little metro car up the side of a hill to parque miró.
i spent a while up here to collect myself and come to terms with myself. my last night in europe. how have i changed? how am i the same?
you know. all those cheesy things.
but there's something so calming about the sea. even if the ocean isn't pointing you towards home.
it connects. it can get you there.
i was SO hungry after my gaudi tour so i had 10000 TINY SANDWICHES FOR LUNCH.
some of the best sights from my 4.5 hour gaudi tour. this guy was insane. he spent years in the basement of the sagrada familia, making blueprints and models that would be destroyed before they had a chance to be realized. every day, the sagrada familia breaks the guinness world record for the building longest under contruction. no surprise, as the counsel of barcelona makes quite a bundle off it each year.
some suitable intake after i got my lip pierced on a whim.
i have never had anything as good as this fresh mango coconut juice.
and i may never again.
i just.... i just drooled my way through this market. what.
also some south american couple asked me to take their photo and i fooled them into thinking i spoke spanish.
bebidas giganticas con amigos at this crazy little retro bar. cocktails as big as your head. thursday niiiiiiight.
stopping at a hidden little place for some homemade chai and to gather myself after a long day...
paella - a community food - with friends from sweden, mexico, brazil, and germany.
i'm actually drooling while writing this.
tapas with my new hostel friends!!
this is barcelona's beautiful santa maria del mar, saint mary of the sea. it gets its name from the legend behind its construction - a legend which is actually true, and told in the famous book La catedral del mar. the famers in barcelona and on the outskirts of the city wanted their own place of worship, so after a long day's work, every day, they would go down to the sea, pick up a stone, and carry it to the center of town to be part of the church.
a mysterious artist designed la galeria magdalena and redoes it once a year.
