I need to rant abt this thing that just went down w my friend but oml there’s sm to unpack. (All fake names for privacy)
Basically I have this friend Jennie and this friend called Owen, and we’re all in this discord server Jennie made. Basically Jennie is dating this guy called Luke and he is a RAGING white supremacist.
Me and Owen were on a vc and he started telling me about Luke and how he was a weirdo in primary school but now he’s a raging n*zi (idk if tumblr will flag it so deal w it). As well as pro-colonisation because ahem. His words. “Natives are savages” (mind you Jennie IS FILIPINA). So Owen was asking me for advice and I’m like “dude just get away from that” but obv Owen was upset abt it bcz him and Jennie are so close… and he also tells me about how Luke and his friend Leon were justifying the use of the n-word and such (mind you Luke is like British, blonde, blue eyes) and how they were being transphobic to Owen and calling him an addict.
He adds me to the server that Luke is in and I scroll to the like confessions chat (which Luke purged so Jennie wouldn’t see it) and wow. Ok.
So me, Owen, and our friends Kate, Liam, and Finn start sorta debating with these guys (mostly Owen) and he mentions that trans people are in the early stages of genocide (we’re in the US if that’s relevant) and Owen sites 3 different sources bc Luke and Leon are “show evidence” people. And they start nitpicking the article. Owen is like getting worked up over him not being listened to and such and Leon drops the stupidest message ever. He says and I quote:
“As far as I know from psychoanalysis, gender roles are formed during the early childhood stages. My homie Freud can back me up on that. But many other addictions and disorders are also formed in that same stage (specially on the oral and anal phases). With that in mind, could we agree that this kind of anomalous behavior is more like a kink/addiction rather than a sexual orientation or gender identity?”
This guy says that being trans and queer is a kink and addiction.
Naturally, my friend Owen tends to be very very defensive about his identity, as he should be honestly. Owen literally goes off on him, about how that’s fetishizing his identity and how that’s gross (which it is.) in which Kate, Liam, and Finn also back him up on this. I’m trying to get Owen to calm down a little while screenshotting this entire chat.
Jennie is currently abroad on Vacation bcz it’s summer break and we don’t have school but it’s around 5 am over there and 12 am over here. She’s apparently on a call with Luke and he’s explaining what’s happening allegedly and Luke relays in the announcement chat that Jennie is pissed and that she’ll block anyone if she sees anything regarding this altercation without hesitation because she’s not breaking up with Luke. Me? I sent her all the screenshots and texted her “reconsider” before I blocked her . I’m pretty sure everyone else blocked her too.
Now to the part I don’t get.
I don’t understand why Jennie dates people like that. I mean. For example. He has said that him saying the n-word and other slurs as a joke doesn’t make him racist, He has said that Muslim people are disgusting, he has said that native people are savages and that they should be colonised… that all immigrants are evil, he literally said that “trans people should be taxed based of the genitals they think they have”
I mean I just.. I just don’t understand. All of our friends, POC, queer, trans, immigrant, have told her to do something to break up or something and she just doesn’t give a shit..
She’s gonna end up friendless atp.. but I’m kinda glad that I don’t have to deal with her anymore
