Behind the Scenes: Vietnamese Numbers

It was nice a reunion with my Su Phu (Long Nguyen) doing what we do best: film stuff!  At Temple University, I started a film club.  At that time, Long was one of the main members.  Fast forward a few years later, we reunite again in California.  Filming was so fun, it also brought back some cheerful memories.  It was definitely an awesome shoot.  

Some mistakes in Vietnamese Numbers: 

1. The Box.  We should have moved that box.  If you go through the video, you will see a random box appear in the background. 

2. Lip Syncing.  If you look really closely at my lips, sometimes I don’t say the right words.  Did you notice that?

3.  Editing.  Every number has an English translation on the top left hand corner.  I forgot to add Ten - 10.

Oops I Did It Again by Britney Spears in Vietnamese

First video I made as Vietglish Fun.  It started as a challenge from my little em (little sister Lindsey) to translate songs on the spot.  I did a couple rough drafts of this song.  It use to be onvo em làm một lần nữa then it turned to chết em làm một lần nữa.  To be quite honest, after I saw this video, I knew that something big was about to happen.  There wasn’t anything else on the internet that was like this.  My vision for Vietglish Fun was that Vietnamese Americans can connect with one another through this channel because of our Vietnamese language. 

Although this channel was aimed towards the Vietnamese American community, it accidentally hit Vietnam, like actual Vietnamese people that didn’t know English.  Even though I missed my target audience, I fell in love with all of my Vietglisheners from Vietnam.  (Vietglishener = Vietglish Listeners = Vietglish Fans).  They were one of the most supportive groups I had and they were the ones encouraging me when I was unproductive and the ones that defended me when someone made an even slightly negative remark.  

I am grateful that my fans are so protective of me. I will definitely work hard to grow as an entertainer so that Vietglisheners can be proud!
