Viewpoints Industry Observes: Google Managers are Very Smart
At the risk of overstating the obvious, Viewpoints Industry admits that software giants are run by exceedingly wise managers. The current example is Google. They wish their employees to willingly spend great amounts of time at work, tapping into the vast fonts of wisdom that lurk within. One thing that helps them with this goal is that extraordinarily cerebral individuals often tend to be loners, and therefore, have nowhere else important to be. The other trick, which Google executives are eager to pursue, is to make their time at work so darned pleasant and enticing that they will not want to leave until they absolutely have to. Software companies have long showered their employees with excessive perks and luxuries. Google has raised this to an art form.
Viewpoints Industry envies the crew at Google for their working conditions.
The Viewpoints Industry TV show has learned that Google supplies literally tons of free gourmet meals for their employees. At the time of development of the Android operating system, the bill for chicken alone topped $1 million per month. But no one can sit in one place for 8-12+ hours, so to keep them limbered up, employees enjoy the use of a massive seven-acre sports complex that includes a roller hockey rink, basketball courts and horseshoe pits, among other things. To soothe them back into working shape, there are also free massages. Is it any wonder that reporting to work is more enjoyable than getting away on vacation? Since these "propeller-heads" would probably prefer to stay there and exercise their brains anyway, how clever of the management to make it a place you just can't bear to leave?
