“I’m not reaching for the stars, babe, there’s glory in the gutters.”
Viggo Shepherd Ross wasn’t always the enigma he’d like people to believe he is. He didn’t appear out of nowhere, he was not created in a test tube, and his parents aren’t actually aliens in disguise. But, being ordinary was never part of Viggo’s plan for himself.
He was given the name Zaidee Marie Ross by his parents when he was born- stuck into the role of “first daughter”, though he didn’t play it well. He was loud and wild- not the delicate, sensitive child they thought he’d be- being the delicate, sensitive parents they were. He didn’t feel right when he was pulled and pushed into being quiet and “ladylike”. His parents liked to pretend they were humans.
By the time Viggo was ten, he had figured it out. He spent two years trying to convince his parents to pick a new “boy name”, and by twelve, they were finally convinced that he wasn’t making up being a boy. When HRT began to kick in enough that he grew stubble, around seventeen, he grew his hair long.
Viggo loved the attention he got, growing up- that was part of why he never quieted down. Being loud- being wild- it meant people looked at him. Late in his teens, his attention-seeking branched out to promiscuity. He slept with any boy with a cute face and a gay dream, and a few girls who’d been intrigued by his femininity. Performing was natural to him- Viggo’s natural-born Lamia greed was for that attention.
For many years, as an adult, Viggo tried to hold a regular position that his parents would approve of. He loved them, after all, even if he didn’t agree with them. But after skipping through jobs with no passion, he decided to go after performance. Becoming a dancer at the Loophole seemed like an intelligent decision- it made Confidence pay the bills.
Unless he’s dancing or he’s sucking some guy off, he’s got two volumes- loud and louder. Actually, it’s just when he’s dancing- he’s still pretty vocal when he’s got a dick in his mouth. If he’s in the room, most of the time, everyone knows it. Viggo keeps things very surface-level in front of others- his walls are built so high that there’s not a person in the world that Viggo isn’t performing for. “Self-conscious” isn’t a word in his dictionary, but people who can see past his facade make Viggo incredibly uncomfortable. He doesn’t think anyone needs to know how exhausted with life he already is- he’s not even honest with his parents about it. His life is full of meaningless relationships, and while he’s ready for something he does to mean something, he’s not ready to open up to someone new- after all, what if it doesn’t work out? Then he’ll be hurt, and someone will be out there with knowledge about him. That’s dangerous- not bigotry, dangerous- that’s something Viggo’s unafraid to handle. That’s personally dangerous. He’s not entirely sure that he knows how to function like a normal person, after keeping up this loud persona for his entire life.
Abrasive, inauthentic, promiscuous
Fun-loving, confident, uninhibited
