BETTIE PAGE & TEMPEST STORM in TEASERAMA — 1955, dir. Irving Klaw
A Day Of Fallen Night review.
A Day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon My rating: 3 of 5 stars At the time of writing this review, I have not read The Priory Of The Orange Tree yet. So this world is all new to me! It was a slow read for me. 800+ pages. There's 3 prologues, 100 chapters, 4 epilogues (and in this edition a bonus chapter). The 100 chapters have 4 different chapter titles (North, South, East and West). Very rarely did one chapter title follow the same chapter title. So it was very difficult to keep track of the different characters and get to know them, and to remember what happened in each "direction". If you read West chapter and thought "ok so these are the people here and this is what's going on, you'd have forgotten the next time a West chapter came up. With 800 pages divided into 100 chapters, there's only 200-ish pages for each Chapter title, and not much happened. Some of the 4 Directions didn't start to meet until over half the book. And then there's I believe 2 characters that are referred as "they/them"! Very confusing! You're sitting there reading, and thinking "Where are the others? I thought there were more people here?!" It is grammatical murder! And a place where women ruled, and the men was content with cooking, sowing and taking care of the children?! This is definitely a fantasy novel. Despite all the negativity above, it's not a bad read! And I will continue with the series. Goodreads don't deal with half stars, so what do you choose between a 3 and a 4 star when you feel it's a 3,5 star?! View all my reviews
Black Clover volume 1.
Black Clover, Vol. 1 by Yūki Tabata My rating: 4 of 5 stars It started out a bit dark and serious, but as the volume went on, it became more wacky and a funnier read. Unlike most Manga, the background was really detailed. Great art. Will definitely continue this series. View all my reviews
Soul Eater vol 1
Soul Eater, Vol. 1 by Atsushi Ohkubo My rating: 5 of 5 stars This first volume contains 3 prologues and part 1 of the first chapter. Strange way to start a book, but it makes sense. In prologue 1 we meet scythe meister Maka and her demon scythe Soul Eater. In prologue 2 we meet shadow weapon meister Black Star and his demon shadow weapon Tsubaki. In prologue 3 we meet Shinigami-sama's son Death The Kid and his demon twin guns the Thompson sisters Patty and Liz. In chapter 1 we meet them all. Weird as can be, but funny! Will continue! Konosuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! Manga, Vol. 1 by Masahito Watari My rating: 4 of 5 stars Kazuma Sato (a gamer) dies in a humiliating way, and get's to live again in another world thanks to the Goddess Aqua. On his quests (which are game like) he is accompanied by various girls. All of them useless! Funny, great potential but a bit messy. View all my reviews
