“I’m not sure that’s just a great idea, kid.” This boy looked far too young to be learning how to shoot a gun and she wasn’t into the idea of teaching children to shoot lethal weapons. It didn’t matter to her that she had learnt when she was only a teenager. Really she was just looking for an excuse to not have to teach him.

“dammit,” avery muttered, tilting their head back to stare at the sky for a moment. they squeezed their eyes shut. how wonderful & convenient that they’d managed to successfully piss off two original vampires who could not be killed. “well, how many are there? please tell me there’s only two.” they stopped at a tree for a moment and sat down, too preoccupied to focus on the job right now. avery might be fleeing town soon if they couldn’t find a way out of this. they didn’t mess with myths, at least not alone. 

“More than two? Yeah, of course there’s most than two there’s at least four of them. Which two did you have a run in with? Some are worse than others. You should hear some of the rumors about some of them. Let’s just say nothing good is ever said about the family.”

NARI HAD LOST COUNT OF HOW MANY DRINKS SHE HAD, though she knew without question that it was definitely more than any human could handle without getting full blown alcohol poisoning. however, when the prospect of indulging in yet another arose she couldn’t help but oblige. after all, what harm could come from one night of fun? if she were being honest with herself she would probably say a lot but for the time being she preferred to fool herself. rarely did she allow herself to have fun and for once she wanted to let loose, or at least try. “count me in! if you make it two i’ll even be your token friend for the night.”

“Perfect.” Phoenix grinned, happy to see that her trap had found a potential victim. While she was mostly set on one particular vampire she wanted dead, she was still curious to know how many more were around. She turned to the bartender and ordered a vodka soda and two shots of tequila for herself. “And I’ll have whatever my token friend here wants.”

Phoenix didn’t hear the words the girl said but she heard somethings and that what promoted her to turn around. “Sorry? Did you say something? I’m not sure if that was supposed to be directed towards me but if it was you can tell me, there’s no need to whisper.”

“Maybe they are overrated, but if I hadn’t offered I might not be talking to you and that would be a real shame.” Phoenix shrugged. The girl looked kind of plain but there was potential there.

“Yeah I heard it.” She said as she froze, like that would somehow make her able to hear better. “We better go and check that out. Have you got any weapons on you?”

Mason

“No, you probably haven’t. I’m new in town and I haven’t seen you either, I’d remember a face like that.” She smirked, looking the man up and down. “I’m Phoenix.”

tay paused as he looked a bit closer at the weapon in her hand. “i have seen a gun before,” he said defensively. he was not an infant, he was in fact an 87 year old man and should not be offended like this. “but why do you have it? why do you need it? are you in danger?” he pressed on, with genuine curiosity and possibly even concern. he just had to know everything & everyone in town, he trusted nobody anymore and that was a lesson he’d learned the hard way.

“I shoot guns, for fun. It’s a hobby, i’m guessing you have some of those? There’s really no important reason other than I like it.” Phoenix shrugged, placing a smile on her face. Really she was annoyed by all the questions but she didn’t let it show.

avery only knew as much as their parents did, which was that vampires and werewolves were killers and had to be taken care of. of course they’d heard of an original, but it was a story, something made up to explain the unexplainable like vampires. “what, like the original vampires? come on. that’s a myth, isn’t it?” avery’s eyebrows furrowed as they blinked at phoenix. “they can’t really be fully immortal, can they?”

“The original vampires are far from a myth. My great great grandfather was killed by one. They’re not exactly who I’m after but I wouldn’t mind killing one or two of them.” She laughed, imagining how proud her dad and brother would be if she killed an original. “Yeah are, or at least I don’t know a way to kill them. There has to be something but nobody knows it yet.”

Pheonix turned around from the bar to address the crowd closest to her. With a smile placed on her face she looked around and yelled over the music so people would hear her. “Hey! I’m slightly tipsy and have no friends here so who wants a drinks? Drinks on me!” It was the perfect way for her to get to know people and hopefully find out some things, while trying to gain trust.

taeyong was taking a leisurely stroll down a path he’d found in the woods, one that brought him pretty close to where ophelia and benny lived out here. for once he was feeling calm enough surrounded by nature, okay with being alone for right now. when he came upon a clearing to pass through and saw a woman, he stopped in his tracks. especially seeing what she was putting into her backpack. something that would prove to be lethal to someone like him. it frankly scared him, but instead of running away screaming, he ran forward and blurted out, “what’s that?”

Phoenix looked at the boy who had interrupted her training, glancing down at the gun in her hand. “It’s a gun... have you never seen a gun before?” She asked with a slight laugh. Luckily she didn’t use any of her more suspicious looking weapons outside of her house and she could get away with a small hand gun, hopefully. “I’m just practicing my aim. I obviously wasn’t planning on shooting anybody with it.”

scouting the woods with phoenix made avery feel safer, even if they knew what lurked in these woods. the fact that it was still light out have have had something to do with it. “so have you ever heard of vampires… like,” avery paused, stepping over a branch as they considered the way to word this. “getting killed, stake in the heart and all, and coming back alive?”

Phoenix looked over at them with a questioning look. She had been taught a lot about vampires from her father before he had been killed so she knew exactly what Avery was talking about. She just couldn’t believe they didn’t. “You mean like an Original? Please tell me you know who the originals are or I’m going to have to take away your hunter card.”

“Peace and quite is a myth created by the deluded. Nothing in life is peaceful or quite.” Phoenix shrugged in her usually optimistic way. “Coffee shop down the road might be a good shout but who knows, I’m just guessing.”

He couldn’t help but jump back from the small collision, thanking his lucky stars he could compel someone to fix this. Four thousand dollars down the drain, “No….no it’s okay it’s uh..only..Armani.” Marcel said trying to flick away some stray drops of the alcoholic beverage.

“Oh god. Again, i’m so sorry. I’m not usually this clumsy. If you’d like I can pay for it, unless there anything else you can think of that I could do for you.” She said raising her eyebrows, face the perfect combination of surprise and apology.

I don’t see the point in this but whatever the town is weird. I’m putting a knife keychain in because I’ve had it for a few years and it’s served me well. Hopefully now it will help someone else.

There he was; the man she was in town for, the man that she had trained for years to kill, the one person she hated more than anything else in the world. He was standing right across the room from her and all Phoenix could see was red. She headed over to him, being sure not to walk directly to him so that it doesn’t look suspicious. She’d spent so long planning that there was no way anybody would suspect her of anything. When she got there she spun around, knocking into him and spilling a bit of her drink onto him. To anybody it would look like a clumsy tipsy girl. “Oh my god i’m so sorry I’m such a klutz.  Please let me help or find a way to make it up to you. I could never forgive himself for ruining a handsome man’s suit.”

was that [ JESSICA LOWNDES ] ? oh, never mind, that’s [ PHOENIX REID ]. speaking of them, i’ve heard they’re a [ TWENTY FOUR ] year old [ FEMALE ] [ HUNTER ], known for being [ CONFIDENT ] and [ DYMANIC ] but also [ UNFORGIVING ] and [ CALCULATING ]. what most don’t know about [ HER ], though, is that [ SHE’S IN TOWN TRACKING THE VAMPIRE WHO KILLED HER FATHER AND TAKE DOWN ANYONE ELSE WHO GETS IN HER WAY ].

phoenix comes from a family of hunters and was trained to defend herself from a young age. when she turned 16 she was given a car and a stack of weapons to take down vampires.

two years later and here comes marcel who comes in and kills her father right in front of her. from then on she focuses all of her time and attention on following him around, watching him and waiting for the perfect moment to strike

she only goes after bad vampires and people who she thinks deserve it but right now marcel is her main target

she’s gonna play the long game

she’s a master of manipulation and it going to pretend to be nice and lovely and just an innocent new girl in town for a while until she plots out her revenge.
