Indian polls 2014
Hello everyone, my name is Vikas Gupta, it's my first blog so mistakes are common. I went for an interview a month ago where i needed to write on a popular topic so i chose elections of 2014 because i found it a most interesting topic.
The limelight of the year 2014 was the elections of India. Everyone was talking about elections, the newspapers were filling with political news, every news channel was showing live debates, interviews of politicians, ministers and political experts. The political waves were blowing all over India. I am from a small town of Etah district, Uttar Pradesh, i had to go there for some personal work for five days. One day i was sitting on the shop of my friend and two customers(they seemed to me from a small village) came to buy some stuff so i asked them usually, to whom are you going to vote in this election and they said,"BJP(Bhartiya Janta Party)". i asked again, Do you know who is the BJP candidate from our constituency? What was shocking for me that they knew the candidate. I felt very happy that persons from the very small town where, there is no electricity, no proper sanitation even not schools knew about whom to vote. The biggest name of 2014 is Mr. Narendra Damodar Das Modi, who was the prime ministerial candidate of the BJP and was the chief minister of Gujarat, a state that is called more developed than many other states of India. There were Modi waves everywhere. Every one was aware of Modi name. Modi was the household name at the time of elections, even i was the hardcore supporter of Modi but there is a point why and How Modi became so popular that mostly every one wants to see him as next prime minister of India and i found few answers. Mr. Modi said to be a business friendly leader and that's why corporate world believed on him cos he really did a great job in his state Gujarat, he is said to be a down to earth person cos he doesn't belong to a rich family, he used to selling tea on the railway stations and he helped his father in his business, he is a strong speaker. One day i was watching live rally of Mr. Modi where he was adressing thousands of people and he said, "today Mr Nawaaz Shareef(PM of Pakistan) told our PM (Mr. Manmohan Singh) that time PM of India, a "Dehati Aurat". Modi said,"Why did Mr. Nawaaz address our PM as a "Dehati Aurat", Who is Nawaaz Shareef to say this?. and this comment was really impressive and this kind of attitude was really liked by Indians. During the elections there were many slogans that became very popular and really did a great work in election campaign such as "Chai Bech Sakta hoon Desh Nahin","Sabka saath Sabka Vikas", Government of the people, by the people, for the people". Sometimes i think, Is Modi a magic man that he can do anything in a short span of time. i guess, we must give some time to him to prove his abilities and should wait for reforms. Things cannot be change overnight, they takes time.At the end, all that i want to say Mr. Modi "Best Of Luck", we believe you.
