Vik grew up with his grandparents, handed off in his early childhood when his single mom needed to go "find herself". His first investigation was in college trying to track down the woman that never came back for him. After long nights of searching, following leads, and driving around the country to find her in Nevada, he found all the work he did was so much more satisfying than actually meeting her. Vikram was hooked to the feeling of assembling all the puzzle pieces in search of an answer and he knew he could spend the rest of his life doing this. He quickly changed his major from business management to criminology -- much to the chagrin of his grandparents-- and began his career. He found the nicest apartment he could afford with his savings and opened up his business. It didn't bother him, working out of his apartment, because it only gave the workaholic more time to focus on his cases. Now well into his thirties, Vik still can barely separate himself from work. His grandparents continue to push to see him married with children, using every guilt-inducing trick in the book. Vikram agrees to go on these blind dates as long as they'll stop pushing, but with his devotion to his job and his lack of interest in any sort of romantic effort, any women he meets tend to be put off rather quickly. It suits Vikram, though, less to distract him from his cases.
