MLK Day is over. So what now? Do we walk past the day and his lessons? Or do we act as if he looks to us to carry the torch forward? (at Golden 1 Center)

20100725 Taos, New Mexico Day Walker Feliz Cinco de Mayo The date is observed to commemorate the Mexican Army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza. In the United States, Cinco de Mayo is sometimes mistaken to be Mexico's Independence Day—the most important national holiday in Mexico—which is celebrated on September 16, commemorating the Cry of Dolores that initiated the war of Mexican independence from Spain. The Battle of Puebla was important for at least two reasons. First, although considerably outnumbered, the Mexicans defeated a much-better-equipped French army. "This battle was significant in that the 4,000 Mexican soldiers were greatly outnumbered by the well-equipped French army of 8,000 that had not been defeated for almost 50 years." Second, since the Battle of Puebla, no country in the Americas has subsequently been invaded by any other European military force. Historian Justo Sierra has written in his Political Evolution of the Mexican People that, had Mexico not defeated the French in Puebla on May 5, 1862, France would have gone to the aid of the Confederacy in the U.S. Civil War and the United States' destiny would have been different. “Cinco de Mayo.” Wikipedia. SEMF 2012. One of the many times I met @djwhores. I can’t say I was good friends, nor we knew each other by first name. But Dan provided a soundtrack, audibly and visually, to my life and many others in Sacramento over the last 15 years. In the past 24 hours you showed us how short life can be. I like to think for way more hours, you showed us how enjoyable it can be. Thank you sir 🙏🏼

In 2010, Steve Jobs passed. A legend was gone. A genius would have no new thoughts. I was at work that day, walking a customer over to a computer, excitedly ready to show them the tools, and there on Apple.com, we both see his iconic face. Dead. We both pause. Suddenly all the conversations I usually blocked out became clear. I looked around and saw the heads of Apple employees like meerkats appearing out of the closed conversations and into the collective of people in an Apple Store. That night, with the help of some of our closing staff, I was able to say my condolences with the tools put forth and evolved from Steve’s ideas. The website that announced his death to me, was now a prop in my visual eulogy. There’s a lot symbolism that can be inferred from the set up, infer away. pt 1 (at Apple Arden Fair)
