for whatever reason, I managed to entirely neglect posting 2024's summary even tho it was totally complete (except uh august & december). so now I'm sharing two of 'em.

it seems really quiet on my art blog these days, but I've actually been having more fun than I have in years! doodling and thumbnailing a lot without the pressure of full pieces, giving attention to my original characters, hopefully breaking into more interesting poses and scenes like I've been striving to do. I finally knocked over-rendering to obfuscate mistakes for actually just drawing SHAPES and enjoying whatever happens. yay.

2025's the first time in a little while I've liked multiple things in the same month enough to choose both, when usually, it's a struggle to find even one. I skipped out on hourly comic day this time, but took part in another make a terrible comic day, my first art fight, and completed some days of doggust.

next year will mark a decade since I started compiling summaries online, which is pretty damn wild.

sona of theseus. this would've been a more thorough list had I not discarded sooo much old art I was embarrassed by years ago, wah.

after 18 years of indecisiveness, it seems I've finally settled into a consistent design with this guy. while looking through these, I realised how much 2018 had always been my favourite (the squircle head shape esp), so I've been kinda pulling from that one with newer art. sometimes you go to all this trouble only to end up back at an earlier idea.

the average lifespan of a keat/vimeni/cyrus/keat/talewort/vimen/slink is around 12-14 months. sad. '10 only survived as long as it did because I kinda stopped drawing outside schoolwork around that period. also bits of '16 and '17 got repurposed into other characters.

I find it kinda funny that their hair growth over lockdown and subsequent rechopping mirrored my own in real life. it wasn't really intentional at the time. and at some stage I was like oh yeah I've worn glasses my whole life I should put glasses on him. (it was a dumb combo of never really liking how I looked in them/unsatisfied with how drawing them always came out.)
