The Fleming family pose in a 1906 Clemont-Talbot motorcar in Kilmarnock, Scotland. Have a look at the number plate: “SY 16”. This was the 16th automobile licensed in Edinburgh (Midlothian)!
Fleming was born in 1888 and emigrated to Canada in 1908. He became a mechanic and served in the Canadian Army Service Corps during the First World War. I’ll be sharing more images from the Fleming collection over the next few months.
Seated next to John is his younger brother Wallace. Behind him is his mother Marion and sisters May and Mary.
