I had a long week

Look at your children in the eyes! Ask them questions! Teach them its ok to look at others and to listen when people are speaking to them and to be direct and polite in their response!

Its sad because children and even teens like 17-18 have such trouble speaking to strangers and making eye contact. I work customer service and have for over 15 years and the decline in social comprehension etc just astounds me. These kids do not understand how a single thing works in a social interaction and they mumble and look anywhere but at your face and have a difficult time processing what you say and formulating a response. It makes me sad. I think it stems from growing up with disconnected parents in the smartphone era who hardly look at their children. Im not hating on mom's but specifically I see so many moms come in with their toddler and sit across from them during a 20 minute lunch together while the kid babbles on to themselves and entertains themselves with the salt and pepper shakers etc while mom is just scrolling scrolling scrolling. I remember going to Kuma Cafe with my mom as a little girl all the time and we had so much fun chit chatting. Im not saying that never happens but it seems less and less.
