I went to my local record store today and bought some new records. I finally found Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits, a pressing for the Netherlands, which is a great record, but also happen to buy two singles from bands I didn’t know before. The right one on the picture is  Joy Fleming - Are You Ready For Love on orange vinyl. The sleeve isn’t original. But that’s okay, I don’t like this on at all. Dance music from the 70s, Discogs says it’s Funk, but for me, it sounds more like Dance-Pop. However, the right one is Green River / Commotion by Creedence Clearwater Revival. A friend of mine told me, after I send him this picture, that is one of his favorite bands. I to be honest: I totally understand him. Green River and Commotion are two really great Classic Rock songs from the late 60s and I’ll definitly check out some more music from this band.

I’ve just listened to Victorious, the new record by Wolfmother. I have to say, I havn’t listened to Wolfmother before that record and after listening to it, I really don’t feel the urge to listen to their earlier stuff. It’s just 35 minutes long and I got bored after 15. If you listen to the first two songs, you basicly have listened to the whole record. And it’s not like the two songs are something special: It’s the definition of boring rock, that sounds like it wants to get into the charts so bad. 

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that bad (except for the song Pretty Peggy) and it has some good moments, but there is nothing special about it and after all, it’s not that good either.

I just bought Bruce Soord by Bruce Soord digital. I know, it’s blasphemy, but I just can’t wait til the vinyl is coming out. And to be honest, I don’t regret buying it digital and I wont cancel the preorder for the vinyl, because it’s a fucking amazing album. I’m not sure yet, but it has good chance to be my album of the year.

A damn good EP by the german Crossover Band GWLT on white Vinyl. Their album, called Stein und Eisen, is coming out at the end of january. I had the luck to get a preorder of the  ZORN&ANGST Premium Bundle, a special edition limited to 50 copies with a colored vinyl and some other exclusive extra stuff. With a little bit of luck I can see them live in march.

Pretty amazing record. I definitily need to order the LP.

I just listened to Rise, Vulcan Spectre, the 2012 record of the Norwegian thrash metal band Nekromantheon. If you look at the cover it looks more like a Death-metal-album than thrash and so it didn’t surprise me that even though it is clearly thrash metal it had some huge influence from the death metal genre. I enjoyed listening to the record, especially the second side, which was opened by the song  The Usurper Command, which is clearly my favourite. 

The album comes on Transparent Red vinyl and, ironical enough, on the Back to Black label. The gatefold cover contains the lyrics and a picture of the band. Nothing to moan about on this pressing. It doesn’t sound really amazing, but not bad either. It’s okay.
