As NYU transitions to remote instruction, it has become more and more apparent that last week was probably the final times I will rehearse with an ensemble for who knows how long. I am heartbroken to say the least - my greatest joys as a musician has been a direct result of collaborative music. This is a time of uncertainty, but the one thing I know for sure is the moment I get to spend hours sitting through orchestra rehearsal at the ungodly hours of the morning, or cooped up in a small room with my quartet, or I’m getting paid far too little for a gig I didn’t necessarily want to do; I will remember this moment and be thankful. This semester has been so full of performance prepping, and unfortunately most of those performances were going to be in the next few weeks... but I will continue to remind myself that the learning and growth are in the process, not the result. Right now, all I can do is continue to spark my passion in creative ways; I’m going to try and continue to use this account as often as possible. To my fellow musicians: I am here, I understand your frustrations, and we will get through this together. Stay safe and stay inspired.
