this is absolutely just a case of knowing too much about one thing, but why does every high school show/book/movie set in the 80s or 90s have marching band kids wearing their uniforms outside of school. in my high school we never wore our uniforms outside of performances and werent even allowed to touch our shakos, let alone take our uniforms home
