I don't know how much longer I can keep doing this
sue zhao / unknown / suzanne rivecca - death is not an option / Horace Vernet, The Maiden’s Lament (oil on canvas) / Louise Glück, Adult Grief / unknown
"You are dead to me" but not in a "I hate you" kind of way, but in a "you died and were brought back to life/ came back wrong/ came back right/ faked your death/ went missing for decades etc, and I cannot cope with this reality cause I haven't even processed your death yet and now I'm supposed to just act like everything's fine?! You are physically with me but I mourn you every day and your memory still haunts me" kind of way
Actually not a fan of when the Knight Protector figure sacrifices himself for dramatic effect because yeah okay his friends live but what about tomorrow when they need protecting again? Sometimes you have a duty to live.
Cough *Deus* Cough
Listen I know this character is doomed by the narrative. I know their death is the most satisfying (even if painful) ending for their character. I know they were meant to die since the start. I know than the things than led to their death are incredibly relevant to the story and can’t be stopped, and I know than the things than happened after they died, because they died, are the whole point of the story. I know their death was a turning point for the whole story. I know the story would not be nearly as good without this character’s death. I know the impact their death had on other characters, or what it meant on their own character journey, is what changes the story. I know the symbolism their death had, and I know than it wouldn’t have been able to be portrayed on a different way than someone dying. I know there were clues to this character dying since the start, and I know there was no other ending for them.
However what if they lived a happy long life, huh?
Whenever I think about my poor little shadow man
Hyper-specific trope that appeals to me personally and probably no one else: "Yes, I'm very attracted to you, and I also love you dearly, but please know that love is entirely platonic. You may be gorgeous, but there's no way I'd date you."
Y’all love to say "let him cook" about men that should not be within 500 feet of a kitchen. Girl he is not cooking he is starting a grease fire
Favorite Character Types (Generic):
1. The character whose face you want to tenderly cradle until they know they are worthy of love.
2. The character you wish you were; the person you wish you could see in the mirror, if only you were brave enough, or smart enough, or funny enough.
3. The character you would never ever want to be like, and would hate to know in real life, but something about the distance of fiction makes you love them.
4. The character who has been so deeply traumatized (or is so very innocent) that you want to hide them away from the world and keep them safe.
5. The character you'd like to see traumatized (possibly more traumatized, if they already are).
6. The character you love to hate; every time the character walks on screen or on the page, you scream for their demise, but you still grab the popcorn and settle in for a good time.
7. The character who commits war crimes (but you could fix them/join them, depending on your personality)
8. The character you wouldn't date in real life if someone paid you but in fiction... WELL.
9. The character you would actually date in real life.
10. The character you cannot explain your like of; they don't fit into any of your normal boxes, but they reached into your house and took your hand, and now they're refusing to let go.
11. The one you want to adopt.
12. The one you want to adopt you.
What is the romance best trope, and why is it a girl who could be his death and a guy who thinks that acceptable collateral damage?
i love this character so much......i hope they get seriously injured and almost die
girls who are doomed by the narrative!! girls who have been dead since the beginning. girls who are dragged into death not kicking and screaming but clinging on to the brink until their fingers ache with the weight of the years they’ve stolen. girls who’s every last words are already etched on the stone of an open and waiting grave.
i love it when a piece of media is like: is there anything more painful than knowing your sibling? is there anything more tragic than knowing they are the only person who will ever share the same experience as you? they were the only constant in your life. they were there since birth and now, no matter how they betray you, you will still love them. you will always feel the need to protect them even if you can no longer bring yourself to talk to them. will anyone else be able to understand? will anybody be able to love you and hate you and fear you the same way a sibling loves you and hates you and fears you? no, probably not
