Brazil fans are all up in Sonnett’s most recent posts too. Some have been blaming Sonnett for Dudinha’s injury and wishing Sonnett harm which is just sad :/

They’re in everyone’s posts who was a focal point. Coop is getting the worst of it for the reasons you can expect (her most recent post now is up to 7,000+ comments), and her 6 most recent are also flooded. Trinity is also getting racial abuse/targeted things about her family life. Lindsey’s wedding post looks like the Brazilian flag threw up in the comments. Obviously the content of it isn’t good, but Sonnett’s not got as many comments as I’d have thought. Soph’s really been left out of it but she’s the people’s princess so that’s to be expected.

If Cat were there I can’t imagine what her comments would look like. Kinda happy she missed this one.

*again, I don’t care if they’re commenting the flag 8 million times or just saying Brazil is better. I think that’s good, actually. The issue comes when the line is crossed.

Obviously I don’t think Brazilian fans commenting en masse* on USWNT players posts is like a great thing for them to do BUT I do think Coop’s method of dealing with it is hilarious

Tbf she’s only the highest paid women’s player in the world partly because of her name. Her play alone doesn’t make her a 2 million dollar player. Her name is why she’s a 2 million dollar player and someone like Wilson is not despite Wilson being better.

One quick example is that I put her radar to FB and tested it against Lilly’s just to see, because I don’t think Lilly is the best 1v1 defender (no offense she’s great but I was trying to think of someone who’s not like a 1v1 technical master), and she recently moved to OB after spending all her time in college as CB, so figured that was a decent comp at midnight.

Her defensive actions # is strong, her interrupting g+ is better than I thought it would be, she’s apparently great in the air, and she has a low turnover rate.

The inability for any player besides Sophia to convert easy chances continues to be the top issue for me

Sophia also did not really convert easy chances to goals tonight. She had one very difficult chance she converted that actually ended up being an OG, but she missed a bunch of sitters / Lorena remembered how to be a keeper. Lots to work on, lots of sitters missed, lots of mistakes, lots of bad.

Emma didn’t fix the problems that were there last game, and Soph’s magic can do a lot, but it can’t cover how absolutely ass most of the team played across two games and how lucky we got tonight in spite of that. Tough conversations to be had about players roles, about who needs to be there who wasn’t this camp, and about who needs to stay home. Those may get lost in the “what the fuck was that” ism that was largely this game.

This is probably the first game I ever felt bad for the refs 😅

They had the riot police out there with gear I’ve only seen at protests used against civilians. Trust and believe, it’s not fun when it’s used against you.
