Ophelia’s eyebrows knitted over her too long lashes that batted too hard. “How odd. She’s hundreds of years older yet you share the same mother? Father?” Upon arrival to Haven the explanation of the world had been brief. Or at least that’s the way she recalled it. There were gods. Not just one. Not just two. Dozens. Polytheism she believed was the proper term. These were the gods in the ancient times before the great Before. Someone had explained to her the details, but Ophelia hadn’t been paying attention. Most everyone in Haven was a child of these gods according to Reece. She seemed to think Ophelia was too. The idea was preposterous. Ophelia had turned up her nose at the thought,her family had been her family. There was no ifs ands or buts about it. “I’m sorry.” Ophelia scrunched her nose lost somewhere between embarrassment and consternation, “This is all just so new to me. I didn’t mean to be rude.”

“Oh not hundreds, just one hundred though it often feels like more,” Violet joked, though the confusion on Ophelia’s face made her wonder if joking with her was the best idea. This girl really didn’t seem to know much about Haven or demigods at all. “We have the same father, Apollo hence the whole head of healers job.” Violet gestured around the infirmary as though her current position should have made her parentage obvious, which wasn’t quite fair since not all the healers were children of Apollo. “Obviously we have different mothers, all of my siblings and I have different mothers. That’s how it is for most of us here, we only share our godly parent. Which is why I thought you might have might already have some siblings here.” Violet wanted to ask if Ophelia had been claimed though she doubted it. Gossip moved quickly in Haven and she hadn’t heard anything about this new girl’s parentage. “You don’t need to apologize, I understand how scary and confusing it can be to come to a new place all by yourself. I was fourteen when Callaway brought me here, barely more than a child. You’re welcome to ask me any questions you have.”

“Thank you so much,” She took the vial in her hands, fighting the urge to down it right then. “You’re too kind, I don’t know how I can repay you, I don’t have anything really to trade for..” Ophelia paused for a moment pursing her lips considering both some form of payment and the offer Violent had presented to her. Staying in a cabin by herself was a little lonesome. It wouldn’t be prudent to be someone’s roommate until she felt some semblance of human again. “I’m in my own cabin right now though. I don’t have any siblings so there was no one to bring with me to share with.” Ophelia shrugged slightly. She felt her plastered smile tug.  She felt compelled to remember her manners. “But thank you for the offer. Your sibling was sleeping with the huntresses when you got here, you mean you didn’t come together?”

Violet waved her hand dismissively, “Oh you don’t have to pay me this is my job, I’m happy to do it. I don’t expect anyone to trade anything for medicine. Except maybe their company, and yours has been worth more than a fair trade. Don’t let me keep you though, you should probably be getting some rest.” Violet frowned slightly at Ophelia’s answer, maybe the girl was unclaimed so she didn’t know who any of her siblings were on the godly side. “I meant siblings who were already in Haven. I guess technically they’re usually half siblings but I’ve never seen much reason to distinguish between the two.” The only siblings in Haven that she knew of who shared both their godly parent and their mortal parent were Willow and Drexal and their situation was unusual. “Oh no, of course not. We didn’t know each other before we came to Haven. Clio’s been a huntress more than a hundred years longer than I’ve been alive, we didn’t have much reason to cross paths.”

“Oh, please, anyone is more interesting than the imbeciles I sit with all afternoon. Although you are undeniably one of the nicest faces around Haven, so here I am.” One of the nicest, but still with quite a mouth on her, Tally realized as Violet’s words caused her to erupt in a fit of giggles. Someone else would have taken it as an insult, but being teased was so rare for Tally she couldn’t help but find it amusing. “How lucky everyone must be then, that I decided to hang with you instead of somewhere else?” There was no point in denying the fact that she was more than a little disruptive when bored. The loathsome feeling had become her excuse - albeit a terrible one - every time she got caught causing her usual mischief. “Yes, please!  Explain away. Maybe I’ll even be able to treat myself instead of bothering you when I get injured in my boredom. What all did you put in it?” She leaned forward, sniffing a bit. “It smells… funny.”

“Careful, I’m rather fond of some of those imbeciles,” Violet raised an eyebrow at Tally but there was no animosity in her tone. “One of the nicest huh?” Violet smirked, glancing up from her work to catch Tally’s eye, “I’m not sure how you came to that conclusion but if you’re going to keep saying such nice things about me I’ll definitely be happy to keep you around.” She paused what she was doing as Tally started giggling, it was a nice sound. She hadn’t heard enough laughter recently, it was nice to have someone to tease. “Very lucky indeed, not as lucky as I am though. It’s me who will worry over you if you get yourself hurt causing trouble,” Violet laughed under her breath, slightly exasperated at the thought. She was glad for the opportunity to keep her eye on Tally, “It’ll be a lot harder for you to get in trouble around me, I’ve been told I am much too serious.” Violet pulled over a couple different jars and held one up for Tally to smell, “Here, this one smells nice. Lavender oil, it’s an antiseptic. The base is beeswax and there’s honey, grapeseed oil, witch hazel, and the lavender. In this one anyways, I have a few different recipes.” Violet pointed to each ingredient as she named them. “I’ll give you some if you’d like but only if you promise you’ll still come see me for anything worse than a scratch or bruise.”

Ophelia took a seat as instructed, letting her hands fold delicately in her lap. Violet was amusing. She seemed so pleased and so friendly. People like her were a rare breed. Ophelia appreciated it .She waved her hand, “Not at all. Its nice to see encounter someone so pleasant for a change.” The sun moved higher in the sky illuminating the infirmary, it was too terribly bright for her sleepless eyes. Ophelia tried to suppress her yawn. “But as for the tonic and the tea, I’ll take what ever you can give me. I don’t remember the last time I slept through the night. I must look like an absolute mess.”

Violet giggled, grinning at the compliment, "Oh I'm nothing special, there are plenty of pleasant people here. Everyone's just a bit..." Violet hesitated, her smile slipping slightly as she tried to think of the right word to describe the general state of Haven, "A lot has happened recently. I hope you can excuse the shortage of easy smiles." Violet was feeling the sadness and pain of recent events just as strongly as everyone else but being friendly and comforting was part of her job, she’d learned a long time ago how to set aside her own feelings to take care of someone else. And this girl definitely seemed like she needed a cheerful presence. Violet set down all her supplies on her workbench and picked up a vial of translucent liquid, “You should take this right before you’re ready to fall asleep.” She handed the small vial to Ophelia before pulling her stool over to sit in front of her. “If you’d like you’re more than welcome to sleep here, I remember how scary it was sleeping in a cabin all by myself when I first got here. The only sibling I had here slept with the Huntresses so I had a whole empty cabin all to myself. Or are you sharing a cabin already?” Violet shook her head, “You don’t look a mess. You look lovely, just tired.”

Ophelia let her smile widen ever so slightly. She hadn’t graced the world with a genuine smile for quite some time now. Her face almost cracked with the gesture. “Nice to meet you, I’m Ophelia.” Handshakes were exchanged as she did her best to be as alert and awake as possible. “I’m sorry to bother you so early, I was hoping you could help me. I’ve been having trouble sleeping.”

Violet’s smile got even brighten at the sight of Ophelia’s, it had been exactly what she was hoping for. “Oh it’s no bother at all,” she brushed off the apology with a wave of her hand, “As long as you’re not bleeding profusely I’m happy to see you. Though I will absolutely want to see you if you do happen to be bleeding profusely.” Violet couldn’t help but give the girl the same cursory glance she gave everyone who walked into the infirmary, quickly looking her up and down to make sure there weren’t any injuries she needed to attend to quickly. “I can absolutely help you with that. Would you like to sit down?” Violet gestured to the closest bed before stepping over to one of the shelves that lined the wall next to the door. “I have a few tonics made up or I could make you some calming tea if you’d rather. Or I can do both,” Violet stood on her toes to pull down a cup and almost dropped in on her own head. She turned back around to face Ophelia with her arms full of supplies, “Sorry, am I talking too much? I know most people aren’t quite so sunny this early in the morning and you look exhausted.”

Amara nodded in agreement, “When things improve, feel free to have at it.” The state of the cabins had lost importance, as had the importance of aesthetic appeal in general. They could worry about that later when there wasn’t some form of preparation for the unknown to be attended too. And from what she’d experienced during the ambush in the woods, Haven would need the preparation. Despite the mortals’ obvious knowledge of what she and the Searchers were, they hadn’t shown any hesitance in attacking. That confidence could be a problem; fear was generally a weakness to pounce on in battle. No fear meant that there was one less thing working to their advantage. “I do, but I appreciate the reminder. It wasn’t exactly the response she’d been expecting, but it did make a fair amount of sense. Besides, the other woman was stubborn and there was no way she would be changing her story just because the guard asked a third time. Amara was about to argue against Violet returning to the infirmary when she corrected herself, to which Amara nodded. "Yes, I think you needed a nap three cups ago.” While Amara considered one cup to be more than enough, she figured that the healer’s opinion was somewhere higher in terms of what was okay. Standing up proved to be more of a challenge than sitting down and, though she pushed through it without making a sound, she could feel the painful stinging in her leg. Of all the people to have to move around following the extended walk with her captive back to the village, Violet had to be the worst. She was a healer after all, it was her job to notice injuries and it was only a matter of time before Amara’s cut would be noticed. Pushing past thoughts of her injury and how long she had to come up with a decent backstory, she offered Violet a hand. “You’ll have to tell me where we’re going, though.”

Violet just nodded, she didn’t actually have any intention to paint the cabins. She doubted there was any chance anything that trivial could convince her to stop working for the amount of time it would take to finish. There were too many more important things to be worrying about. As long as the cabins were upright and functional maintenance could wait. At least Amara knew she had Violet to talk to whether the girl readily took her up on the offer or not. She’d spoken to Violet about Artemis’s invitation during the festival so she must trust her at least a little. That thought made Violet smile despite the tears threatening to spill out of her at any moment. Violet laughed, she couldn’t argue with Amara’s statement, she should have gone to bed a long time ago. She almost wanted to explain why she hadn’t, something pushed her to open up and tell Amara how stressed she was trying to cure her brother but Violet couldn’t do it. She couldn’t let Amara see the way it was all getting to her, how scared she was of failing Haven and the pressure she was putting on herself to succeed. Violet gratefully accepted the girl’s offered hand and pushed herself off the wall as she stood up. Her head immediately swam and she stumbled back against the cabin, catching herself before she could fall back to the grass. She stood, leaning against the wall for a long moment, breathing slowly, her eyes closed, “Maybe sitting down was a bad idea because getting up certainly was.” She finally looked up at Amara, “Honestly I probably would have fallen asleep against your cabin if you hadn’t found me.” Violet picked up her basket as her head stopped spinning and gave Amara a weak smile, “My cabin’s just down that way.” She pointed in the general direction before starting to walk that way, careful to stay close to Amara as she walked.

“But what if they can’t? What if we fight with the humans? What if we want to stop but they don’t?” Gray always wanted to believe in the good of people but she had encountered from awful people in her life and only those kinds of people would be willing to kill a child. If they were willing to kill someone so young what qualms would they have about the adults?  “But what if I can make more? I need to expedite the catapults or something.” Gray knew she couldn’t speed up that process because in doing so too many mistakes would be made. “I need to figure out how to make better weapons. Maybe some more range weapons or create a barrier so that the humans never even make it to Haven.” Gray wanted to protect her people as much as she could and she would do whatever it took. Though she would prefer more diplomatic means. “I’ll try not to, but I just want to be able to do more and I want to be able to do it now.”

Violet had no idea what to say. What if they did fight with the humans? What would happen to them if war really did break out? The idea of having to suffer through another war made Violet’s chest ache and she just wanted to curl up in a ball and sob. Violet didn’t realize that she’d started to cling to Gray’s shirt as she kept talking. “You are making them as quickly as you can.” Violet didn’t know much about weapons but she understood that making them could be even more dangerous than using them and the idea of Gray pushing herself to make the weapons even faster made her nervous. Everything about Gray’s job made her nervous. “You should work with your siblings, make plans. This isn’t all on you Gray, you’re not alone in this. You can’t take this all on yourself.” Violet understood the sentiment, the desire to be doing something more but she had to be practical. “You’re doing a lot, we all are. But right now you need to take some time to grieve, you’re in no state to be doing anything else.”

After her hunting incident from the night before, Ophelia had tried in vain to get some rest. If being in the woods wasn’t an option, maybe getting some actual sleep would help organize her thoughts. She knew it was a long shot; her sleep cycle was a bigger joke than her sanity at this point. But trying never hurt. The problem lied in staying asleep. Falling to sleep was easy. It was not waking up screaming that was the problem. Every hour on the hour she was awake and shaken. As she lay awake her mind wandered. There had to be something she could do. In her village there had been a family of healers. Her father used to go to them for sleeping draughts. They had to have something like that here. After several more hours of tossing and turning, Ophelia gathered herself up and went to find Haven’s infirmary. Maybe someone could help her there. Quietly she knocked on the open door as she took a step inside. “Hello?” She called, more question than a greeting. “I’m looking for a healer.” Ophelia kept her distance from the woman across the room. She offered her a thin smile, a calm palpable in the air. “I was hoping that this would be the right place to find one.”

Violet looked up at the sound of knocking, no one ever knocked on the infirmary door. She’d gotten so used to everyone in Haven just barging in that she couldn’t help but smile at the small, polite gesture. She glanced back down at the patient she’d been tending to, the son of Ares was the only one occupying a bed in the infirmary that early in the morning. She readjusted his blanket before turning and tugging the curtain around his bed closed behind her and she moved towards the front of the room. Violet smiled brightly at the girl standing uncertainly by the infirmary door, “This is absolutely the right place, I can’t imagine what else I’d be doing with this many beds.” Her voice was light as she joked with the girl, hoping to relax the tight smile she was giving her. “I’m Violet,” she held out her hand, continuing to smile warmly up at the girl. Violet was pretty sure she knew who this girl was, she made a point of keeping track of anyone new in Haven, but they hadn’t actually met yet.

“Oh, forget about what I’m supposed to be doing. Don’t you enjoy my company?” Tally dismissed the question with a wave, propping herself up on her elbows and giving Violet a comical puppy dog pout, which quickly dissolved into mock offense. “For your information, I was not drunk, just bored. Playing the drunken fool is the oldest trick in the book, didn’t you know? If I hadn’t been at Haven it would have been the greatest opportunity to lift something, but I wouldn’t do that to the well-intentioned Drex after he tried to keep me from making a fool of myself.” In a swift movement, she was standing next to Violet, watching her make the antibiotic. “That sounds productive, much more productive than sitting around a bunch of sorry bums back at the wall.”

Violet rolled her eyes at the pout Tally offered her but she couldn’t help the smile that slipped onto her face as well, “Of course I enjoy your company but that doesn’t mean I don’t think you should be doing your job rather than spending time with me. I am not interesting enough to skip work over.” Violet knew she had nothing to do with Tally skipping work, the woman would have done so regardless, she just liked to tease her. She wasn’t sure how Tally had come to the conclusion that Violet was the right person to avoid work with considering that fact that she was almost always working. “Bored for you sounds just as bad as drunk, which is concerning considering how often you seem to be bored. I hope you don’t intend to keep getting injured every time you’re bored. I would much rather see you in here all in one piece.” Violet jumped slightly as Tally was suddenly next to her, “It sounds like the sitting around part is the unproductive bit. But yes, collecting herbs will be productive.” She looked over her shoulder at Tally, “Would you like me to explain what I’m doing?”

Amara’s eyes narrowed for a moment as she studied Violet before she broke her gaze and looking over at the cabin; she would get to the bottom of things later. “It is, though it could use some improvements. Paint might look nice.” She had once considered collecting the supplies needed to spruce up the cabin, but now it was at the bottom of her list of priorities. With Violet’s question, Amara briefly pondered her options. While she didn’t want to tell Violet anything, she did still want the other woman to tell her what had led to her tears. “I just have a lot on my mind, nothing new.” She couldn’t say anything about being up all of last night because that could lead to questions about where she had been, how she’d spent the numerous hours of darkness. Violet could not, under any circumstances, become involved in what Amara was doing. She couldn’t give the healer the heavy burden of keeping such a secret and, since she had no plans of telling the public anytime soon, it was likely Violet would be stuck with it for a while. That couldn’t happen, so the guard merely wrote it off as another one of the side effects of being one of the guard leaders in Haven. “Anyway, I’m not the one crying on the ground,” she pointed out, hesitating for a moment before sitting down next to her. “And with your magical caffeinated leaf water, I doubt that crying is your solution to sleep deprivation.” Returning the focus to Violet helped to somewhat put her at ease, though not very much considering that whatever was bothering the brunette had to be bad enough to force her to tears. “Remember that promise you had me make, it’s a two-way street.”

Violet followed Amara’s line of sight to look up at the cabin behind her, “I’m sure paint would look nice, though all the cabins could use a little bit of work. Nobody has time to worry about things like that recently though which is a shame, I like painting.” She doubted there was any chance she could derail Amara’s questioning with a topic as inane as cabin decorating but it was worth a shot. “Well I’m always here to talk, but you know that.” As much as Violet wanted to focus on Amara rather than herself she still wouldn’t push. She knew she wasn’t going to get any information out of Amara that the guard didn’t want to give her. Violet sighed heavily and looked over as Amara sat next to her, “And neither am I.” She still couldn’t look the woman in the eye when she lied at her but at least this time she was able to focus on her face. “Believe it or not after too many cups caffeine stops being as effective so I am definitely feeling the sleep deprivation. I was worried I might fall over if I didn’t sit down for a bit. I should probably get back to the infirmary though.” Violet made no move to stand up, her knees still felt weak. No matter how hard she tried to push down the sadness it just kept welling up in her chest and mixing with the fuzziness in her head from how little sleep she had. She wasn’t sure how much longer she was going to keep it at bay but the prospect of standing up was a bit too ambitious at the moment. She stared down at her lap as Amara reminded her of the promise, “It is, you’re right. Maybe you could help me walk back to my cabin, I’m feeling a bit unsteady and despite all the work I need to be doing I should probably take a nap.”

“He is awfully proud asking for help isn’t his first or last thought.” Alie smiled thinking about Cade. She was sure the son of Hades was taking this recent news very hard. But she hadn’t found him yet. It was nice to hear other in the village were looking after him as well. “I’ll bring it up to him. How are you?”

“That certainly sounds familiar,” Violet returned Alie’s smile. Stubborn and proud were good was to describe Cade and the rest of the council. “I’m alright, as well as can be expected. I’ve been working a lot so I haven’t had much time to dwell which is good.” Violet handled grief by throwing herself into her work even more than she usually did, it kept her distracted.

Talisa listened to the clarification about the flowers, nodding as they have an image of it being similar to sun in color scheme and thought of how fitting it was. Talisa didn’t say it aloud though, wanting to let the topic pass or they she would if a point didn’t catch her interest. “Meaning?” She asked, wondering what that could mean though she nods at the next topic the girl chose to bring up. “I’m mediocre at it though I don’t enjoy it.” Out of the similar activities that involved meticulous actions, which in her mind involved tying, like setting traps and working with fish nets, mending clothes was Talisa’s least favorite. She found it a bore. Watching the girl try to position herself, Talisa lightly chuckles. She places her hand gently then firmly on Violet’s back. “You got a good start. Try to lay on your back and I’ll keep my hand here just in case while you get your body in position. When your head is on the water, make sure your ears are in the water and keep your chin up. Don’t worry about your legs for now.” She instructs and remembers another thing. “See if it’s easier for you if you place your hands under your head and have your elbows in the water. I’ve found that easier for me.”

Violet nodded, “Flowers have different meanings attributed to them. Many of the important meanings are related to rituals, like weddings or burials, but some are just left over meanings from before. My grandmother knew a lot about flowers.” Occasionally when Violet was growing up she would help her grandmother collect flowers for tonics and she would teach Violet about the different plants they were collecting. Violet laughed, she was not at all surprised to hear that Talisa didn’t enjoy mending clothes. It wasn’t her favorite task either but it was a nice skill to have. Violet was surprised by the feeling of Talisa’s hand on her back, she stiffened up slightly and raised an eyebrow at her. “There’s no way I’m going to relax with your hand on my back,” Violet mumbled under her breath looking down at the water, knowing full well that she was doing the same thing Talisa had done earlier. She followed the girl’s instructions and leaned back against Talisa’s hand getting herself into the correct position. Violet was wrong, she could relax with Talisa’s hand on her back a lot more than she could have without her support. Violet lay her head back in the water, with her ears under the water everything sounded muffled. She tried putting her hands under her head the way Talisa had suggested but it made her feel more off balance so she rested her hand against the girl’s arm instead. “Oh I forgot to say my not secret,” her voice sounded oddly muffled from the water, “I can’t think of one with all this water in my ears though. I’ll give you a real secret if you give me one.” Violet raised an eyebrow at Talisa, smirking at the odd angle they were at.

Tugging a shirt on, Amara gave a tired sigh. Unlike the other nights she spent interrogating her human captive, last night had been especially taxing. She hadn’t stopped at three like she usually did, instead going until first light, and she was exhausted. Following her regular morning patrol, she’d retreated to her cabin to get at least two hours of shuteye before anyone could question her out of character lethargy. It was difficult to look alive when she felt dead. Unfortunately, she was only able to sleep for a restless one, thoughts of what she was going to do next forcing her awake before she was ready. The only good thing that had come out of the extended interrogation session was that she could tell the human was close to cracking. Somehow she’d been able to maintain an even tone with him thus far and, even though it was a slow process, she felt confident that she would get there eventually. Amara finished braiding her hair into its usual style before strapping on all of her weapons, moving around the cabin to make sure that she hadn’t forgotten anything. With everything in place, she took a breath and opened the door, stepping out into the warm air. She had an hour until she was needed anywhere and, with sleep just out of reach, she’d have to find something to preoccupy herself with. The brunette was about to her towards the Mess when she heard Violet’s voice. “I’ve been better,“ Amara replied, albeit a bit absentmindedly. She’d been about to ask what Violet was doing on the ground outside of the cabin when she noticed the unusual smile and telltale sign of crying. The realization immediately cleared her head and her brow furrowed with concern. "But I should be the one asking you that. What’s wrong?”

Violet shook her head, her smile faltering at the question. “Nothing,” she blatantly lied, “I just needed somewhere to sit down, I’ve been up all night. Sorry, is this your cabin?” Violet asked, hoping to change the subject away from herself. She gestured to the cabin behind her. She couldn’t look directly at Amara with the woman standing over her the way she was. Violet didn’t lie very often and the act of doing so made her nervous even when she felt like it was the best thing to do. She was supposed to be a comforting force in Haven so she had a hard time letting herself burden someone with her sadness. Violet had learned a long time ago that the best way to comfort someone was to provide them with a calm and collected presence to share their pain with. Because of that Violet had a hard time letting other people see her upset. She had an irrational feeling that if she needed to seem like she was handling things all of the time especially when the rest of the village was struggling. “You said you’ve been better, would you like to talk about it?” She let the fake smile fall from her face and replaced it with a real look of concern. She would much rather discuss what was happening with Amara than talk about herself though she doubted there was any chance the other woman would let her move on without explaining herself more.

“I am sure it will be put to good use.” She said nodding happily. She had learned that sometimes the best way to help other people was to allow them to help you. Something a lot of the demi gods in Haven were still learning. “He a the stubborn sort,” Alie said with a laugh. “And sleep isn’t so simple for him. He sees dark things, but it wouldn’t hurt to try.”

Violet laughed, “Oh yes, I’ve noticed.” Cade was one of the people Violet worried about more than most in Haven, he rarely slept or ate enough. It frustrated her but only because she cared for him and he was never unkind when she attempted to get him to change his habits. “He should talk to Norah then, I’ve heard she has a particular skill with dreams. I will try to see if he’ll let me help him, he certainly won’t be surprised if I do.”

“Good.” Is all she says at the girl’s acceptance to at least try fish. Talisa is nearly tempted to go all the way to try the fish first to see if it’s prepared well and if not, go catch and prepare it herself. But, she wasn’t that invested. She’s pretty sure. She didn’t react when Violet tucked her hair behind her ear though Talisa looks down at the water when the girl’s hand is slipped into hers and her lips twitch, having an urge to smile at the small action. She hums at the little fact, thinking it was better to comment on it after the girl returns to the surface. Once she does so, Talisa chuckles a little at her remark. “I’d agree. But it helps to know how it feels.” She brings her hand and gently moves hair from the girl’s face as she continues to talk. “So, flowers. I’m guessing those are yellow from the name. I don’t think I have a favorite flower.” She’s never found the need to be particular interested in flowers. That time when she found the medicinal properties of those flowers before didn’t count. “Do you want to try floating on your back?”

Violet could understand that, she doubted it was very easy to swim without sticking your head underwater. Plus making sure not to breathe in while your head was submerged seemed like something worth practicing. She shook her head at Talisa’s assumption about the flowers, “Only sometimes. They can be yellow or orange or red and yellow. I like the red and yellow ones best, they’re really pretty. I like flowers a lot and not just the useful ones. They also have a lot of meaning attached to them.” Violet assumed that Talisa not having a favorite flower was her fact so she chose one to share, “I am excellent at mending clothing.” After learning how to stitch up flesh stitching clothes was simple. “Okay, um I’m just going to assume I just lay on my back.” Violet tried to lean back and stretch her body out but she couldn’t quite relax enough to let herself float, “Yeah, I think I’m going to need more help with this,” she frowned over at Talisa.

“You are probably right about that.” Alie was proud of her little village and all they did for each other. Each person using their gifts to make life easier for everyone in Haven. “I think I’ll take that as goodthing.” Alie said with a laugh, knowing everyone on the council was running on fumes at this point. “You’re very wise for someone so young, I’ll take whatever tonic you think is best.” Alie resigned shaking her head. “Thank you.”

Violet shrugged, “I don’t know about wise, but thank you.” Violet also had a hard time thinking of herself as young. She certainly wasn’t one of the youngest demigods in Haven though she wasn’t much older than they were. But Violet had never behaved like a child, she’d been working as a healer since she was very small and taking on a leadership role in Haven so young had forced her to grow up ever faster. Everyone in Haven had to grow up too fast. “I’ll make you something tomorrow and bring it to your cabin so you’ll have it when you need it. Any chance you think Cade will take something if I give it to him?”

Tally was back to her usual shirking duties, although it wasn’t exactly the plan. The festive mood had abruptly died out at the announcement of mortals hunting demigods throughout the country, meaning her fellow guards were once again sullen and uptight, more sensitive to her jokes than ever. It was more than a little maddening, surrounded by pent up negativity and suppressed rage with no way to release it. So she found herself wandering away from the guard post before she could help it, seeking out company to keep herself from falling into the same depressing - and in her opinion, pathetic - spiral of negativity. There was only one person she could think of that might welcome the company and could most likely use a break. 

“Oh, Viiiiolet~” Tally sang from the doorway, eyes landing on the familiar dark haired healer. “I’ll be bothering you today. So!” She threw herself onto the closest bed, rolling over to smile at the younger demigod. “What are we doing today? Anything interesting?”

Violet looked up at the sound of her name and smiled at Tally, “Oh you will, huh?” Violet laughed and shook her head at the sight of the girl flopping onto the infirmary bed. “Aren’t you supposed to be working?” She raised an eyebrow at Tally, knowing that she was probably right but not actually expecting her to listen. Violet focused back on the work in front of her, “Well right now we’re making antibiotic salve because people like you used up most of my stock being drunk around knives,” she teased, smirking up at Tally. She was exaggerating, there weren’t actually as many injuries during the festival as she had prepared for. “But when I’m done with this I was going to go collect some plants, you can come with me if you’d like. That would probably be a lot more interesting for you than laying on that bed while I work.” It wouldn’t bother Violet at all to have Tally hang out in the infirmary while she worked but she doubted that the girl would find that stimulating enough.
