"It depends on who is asking?" The brunette responded, lifting her head up a bit and turning to look at the source of the voice.
"Who indeed. Well, you may just call me Yukari. I'm more interested in you, however." As she said the word you, she pointed her closed fan at Evelyn.
"Something wrong, dear?" Yukari was leaning halfway outside of a gap, just behind Evelyn.
"Where do people get the idea that I find 'special' people from the outside world, and take them to Gensokyo? If anything, I choose someone purely at random. The only 'special' humans around are... well, they're those five."
7 New Visitors Have Arrived
"Welcome to the Palace of the Earth Spirits. How did you come here?"
"My, haven't you heard of me? After all, I heard that you copied some of my attacks when Reimu fought you."
Hadn't there been tales of these children who had been taken to an alternate world, and met with monsters inside an art gallery, or something similar to that? Well... one of her Shikigami in the real world had managed to locate one of them. A certain blue haired male. She took a gap to a nearby alleyway, and walked out in full view of the male. "Hello, dear."
Like this if you want me to make you a starter.
"My sister. There was a tower and then now I can’t find her." She was a bit upset, clearly bothered by the fact with a sadden look in her eyes. "It really doesn’t stop me from trying to find her, or realizing this was a pretty bad plan. I guess I just got that from Raidy." She weakly shrugged her shoulders. "Why do you want to know these things, again?"
"Why...? Why do you breathe? Though, I suppose that analogy doesn't make much sense to you. I need to learn, as it's the only way I can live up to my full potential, you see. Learning is what I do best." When she's not stealing food from Reimu, or trying to give Marisa a minor heart attack.
Kyouko stuffed her hands into her pocket and hopped right in, landing somewhat steadily onto her floor. She’d always been good on her feet, after all. She seemed impressed with this ability as she glanced around, confirming that this was certainly the real deal.
“Aaalrighty! So. What did ya wanna know?”
"Well, if you would be a dear and explain the process of contracting to the incubators to me, that would be a fabulous place to start. That is, the beginning of a life for a Magi." That was often how you told a story, if you were a normal person. Though one would find Yukari often liked to start in the middle.
"I’m pretty young and I have a sister. Some people see Wererats as a bit thieving, so they kind of went with that. I tend to like a bit of climbing, too." While her answers sounded a bit stiff, she wasn’t exactly one to talk about herself to many people. "Most of the time, I’m actually walking around and looking for someone. I’m not sure what else to say."
"You say you're looking for someone? Is it someone important to you, or just someone random?" It was an actual question. Yukari had met people searching for someone they hadn't even met yet, and as such didn't have anyone in specific in mind. It was similar to the way she chose her conversational partners.
"Uhh…" She blinked. "I dunno how exact you’re talkin’, but, uh, we’re not all that far." She looked down the street. "It’s on the second floor of the building around that corner right on the left, uhh…" Kyouko continued a bit more and attempted to be less vague, but there came a point where she didn’t really know how to put it any more specifically. She moved apartments a lot, after all, and this one was fairly new. She wasn’t very good at directions.
"Now, if you would..." Yukari opens up a gap, and through it one could see... the inside of Kyouko's apartment. Well, that was convenient. "Just step through, and you'll be there. Be warned, there is a bit of a difference in elevation, so try to be careful." She then dropped fully into the gap she was in, reappearing in full, sitting on a chair that had not previously been inside the apartment, waiting for Kyokuo.
"Aaaah~ Yes of course we can chat~ But i hope you do not mind i play my biwa as we chat as it is something that i always like to do since it is so relaxing and soothing~ But i can still talk while i play so i hope you do not mind at all miss~! Ah ha~ I just find it so fun~!"
Benben continued as she nodded to the idea of a quick chat as Benben was more than happy to chat while she mixed in the sounds with her biwa. Maybe she could try to mix in the voices as well to make seem like they were singing or something.
"I've certainly received more ridiculous requests. Very well, play as you wish. I shan't complain." She'd had some rather... odd requests, when she asked for conversation, but playing an instrument was certainly the least of her worries. Now she looked around, trying to see if there was anyone else around, and seeing that there wasn't, decided to continue the conversation. "Well, now, I heard you took part in a recent incident?"
Well, usually Kyouko would’ve told her to figure it out herself because it wasn’t much of her business. However, recently, she’d developed a rather lax side to her that wasn’t as guarded, and a tad more friendly. That, and the other had given her food. She owed her.
“… Thiiiis wouldn’t be the best place t’ talk, then,”
"You have a home, dear? If so, could you tell me it's approximate location?" Her ability came in especially useful at times like this. Traveling was a wonder when you could simply manipulate the borders of 'Here' and 'There'. Sure, she could just try to go now, but playing with borders could be a dangerous thing to do. Especially if you tried visiting a place that doesn't exist.
"Is that really all?" She questioned, sounding a bit more relieved. She also decided that being on the ground was getting tiresome, so she shot right back up. One of her ears did twitch, more of a sign of calming down from an alerted status. "Did you have some kind of exact thing? Like my hair?"
"No, nothing in particular. If you could just talk about yourself a little, I'm genuinely curious as to just what a wererat would do in their spare time. It's not every day you encounter one, you know." This was the first that Yukari had heard of them, after all. It just made her realize how much more she had to learn about the worlds she inhabited.
"Yuh-huh." Kyouko nodded without much thought. If this person such odd power, then she figured that it’d be normal for her to know about that. Not that she had anything to really hide- there was no reason to. "Sure am. Best around. N’ what about it?"
"Well, you see, I never payed much attention to your kind. For many years, hundreds even, you all remained generally low in number. But lately... There's been more than usual. What's interesting me is... Well, to be honest, there's several things I'd like to know." People get the idea that Yukari is set against asking for information. Quite the opposite, in the sense that she eagerly asked about things she didn't understand. It was one of the largest reasons she was so intelligent, after all.
"That doesn’t make me feel much better." She gave a little sigh, deciding to look at the girl’s face and trying not to think about anything negative. "Did you need anything from me? I don’t think people go to Wererats for much, though." She bent one of her knees. At least she did calm down by a bit, breathing normally and not shaking at all. She didn’t really seem that harmful, too.
"I just wanted to talk, dear." In fact, this was very true. Yukari didn't have any special plans involving this girl, as many would think. She was interested to find that there was such a species as a wererat, and added it to her mental list of werebeasts, along with wolves and hakutaku.
"Ooooh~ Hello there~! I wonder if you came here because of my lovely biwa sounds that i am making~! Aaah it so wonderful the sound of music is~! Isn’t it just lovely~! all the sounds you can hear that are around you where it’d be a lovely sound of your footsteps or just general humming in her head it is all great~~! " Benben saying as she didn’t seem surprised that Yukari appeared out of no where as she seemed more relaxed than anything since with music on her mind all the time she is always relaxed at any given time.
"And who might you just be~ Well whoever you may be i hope you enjoy the sounds of the area as well as the sounds of music that i begin to play with my biwa~! Aaaah i cannot stop loving music~! No matter what kind of mood i am in it is just sooon relaxing~!"
Not... the reaction she was expecting. Well, this girl certainly seemed to love her music. Sure, Yukari wasn't one to deny the wonders of a song, and often used music to soothe some rather rowdy beings she sometimes visits, but she wouldn't call herself obsessed with it. Though this girl... perhaps the statement would be a little more accurate. Oh well.
"Well, I came for a small chat. Do you think you could indulge me for a spell?"
Kyouko was initially surprised, but reached down and picked up the drink rather quickly. She barely examined the can before she gave a small thanks. Although she was wary of the blonde, and was well aware that she could be being lured in to some sort of situation, but for now, she really didn’t care. She wouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth, especially with food as the subject. With that, she began chugging the liquid rather happily.
It was as Yukari had suspected. The way to this girl's heart, or rather, the way to get her to talk would be through her stomach. Good thing food was relatively easy to obtain for the sage. Waiting for Kyouko to finish drinking, her smile changes to a sincere one. "Now then, you're what they call a Magi, aren't you?"
Of course, she already knew the answer to that question. She just wanted to keep the lancer on the same page as herself.
