Age verification bills are designed to make ID checks mandatory for access to social media sites, browsing an App Store, etc. The identification measures are invasive and can include unreliable biometric scans (a scan of your face) and the uploading of your real-life ID. Imagine if your stored ID, which has your full name, address, and photo, were to be stolen in a data breach.

Section 230 is the big one. It protects free speech because it prevents social platforms from being sued to oblivion because of content posted by its users. Basically it makes so social platforms and its users are not treated as the same entity. If Section 230 is repealed, many smaller platforms will not be able to pay off constant lawsuits, so they either will have to heavily restrict user content or face being taken down entirely.
