Probably a large sum. I won’t be one of them, though.
Staying clean, I see. I'm probably gonna join you on that.

Probably a large sum. I won’t be one of them, though.

I wonder how many people will get drunk today...
I don't really know what to say.
Thank you. I like your name too.
Thanks! Are you new here?
I don't really know what to say.
Nice to meet you, Violet. I’m Clarke.
Like Lewis and Clark. I like it. It's very nice to meet you.
I don't really know what to say.
Um…hello.
Hello! I'm Violet.
Until We're Broke // Violet + Mia
Mia brushed a hand through her hair, which was still moist from her recent shower. Sitting on the floor of her bedroom, she stared at her phone screen. It displayed an empty text message menu. She hasn’t contacted anyone on the island since her arrival. Maybe the new girl, Violet, could be her new texting buddy. She missed long, random text conversations. Especially the ones with her best friend. ‘Best friend… I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to.’ Mia ignored her thoughts and stood up, proceeding to get ready for her shopping trip with Vi.
She glanced at her wardrobe before picking out an over-sized, distressed, yellow shirt and paired it with black leggings. Slipping the articles of clothing over her underclothing, Mia tried her best to look presentable for going outside. It’s been a couple of days since she went out to buy things and had a couple hundred dollars left over on her spending card. The girl walked over to the small pink fan that sat on her vanity and flicked on high. Her room felt stuffy and her leggings did not help much. Mia needed to get out of the house or else she might pass out from exhaustion. Taking a look at herself in the mirror, she noticed beads of sweat on her forehead. Feeling tired, she ran downstairs to the kitchen and obtained a bottle of Sprite, quickly downing the contents.
As she made her way back into her room, she started to feel like herself again. Entering her bathroom, she snagged her makeup bag, taking out an eyeliner pencil. She drew along her tight line and lash line, making her eyes look less tired. Mia decided to skip out on mascara and dropped the pencil back in her bag, zipping it up and tucking it away. She then pulled her hair up and tied it in a high ponytail. Happy with the result, she took a few strands of hair and removed it from the tie, framing her face. On her way out, she slid on a pair of socks and covered them with white oxfords. Knowing that she had forgotten her bag, Mia went back inside, taking her bag and making sure that her phone and card were there.
The doorbell rang. It was probably Vi. She hurried down the stairs to avoid any awkward conversations with her housemates. Luckily, she was the first to get to the door. “I got it!" Mia hollered at whoever was inside the house. She rarely saw them. The girl usually just had meals in her room whilst watching something on her laptop. Pulling open the front door, she took a sigh of relief as she saw Vi standing there and not some random stranger. “Hey, are you ready to go?"
Violet awkwardly tugged at the strap of her shoulder bag as she waited for the door to open. A voice was heard from inside. Hopefully, it was Mia and not one of her housemates. The lock clicked and the door swung open, revealing the girl. "Thank goodness it's you. For a second there, I thought I was going to have to be social with someone else besides you." Tucking a group of hairs behind her ear, Violet replied, "Yup! Just lead the way!"
She really appreciated that fact the Mia decided to show her around the island center. It's one of those places you need to know your way around and Violet knew that she would easily get lost. "So do we walk from place to place or is there some transportation we can use? I'm not sure if my feet can bear that much walking." Staring down at her shoes, she realized that she needed to get something comfortable for her feet. Not necessarily shoes, though. Maybe one of those gel inserts joggers use. Her thoughts were getting off-topic. Violet decided to switch to something they both liked to talk about. "Uh, what's your all-time favorite musical? Something you wouldn't get tired of if you were forced to watch it every single day." Instantly, a huge number of titles flood her mind and she smiles, remembering her first experiences with the shows.
Bored as fuck. Anyone around?
Um, hi?
It’s me, obviously.
Of course I knew that. I haven't met any other guy, so you're default.
It is. Plus, you just met the coolest guy here so…
Coolest guy here? I don't think I've met him yet. Can you introduce me to him?
I’m pretty sure it’s less than that. Like maybe three weeks? It’s not so bad, like I said. I’ve met pretty cool people and it’s pretty fun actually.
Seems like it's a pretty cool place from what I've seen.
Yeah, of course. I mean, I was in your place when I first came here almost a month ago.
You've been here a month already? What's it like?
Oh right. It’s not that bad actually.
Yeah, it's just gonna take a while to get used to, you know?
Until We're Broke // Violet + Mia
Violet shuffled through her luggage, looking for an outfit to wear. It's only been a couple of hours since she has arrived, and Vi had already made plans to go shopping with a new friend. Her name was Mia and they already had a similar interest: musical theater. The only difference was that Mia preferred to watch shows and Violet loved to be in them. She was excited to hang out with the girl, for she had a feeling that they would be good friends.
Tossing her clothes on the bed, Violet rushed into the bathroom, only taking a ten minute shower. She didn't want to have Mia wait long. The girl wrapped her hair in the towel to absorb the water and took another one to cover the rest of her body as she put on a bra and some underwear. As she exited the bathroom, she made sure that her bedroom door was locked. She did not want any unwanted visitors entering her room as she dressed.
Violet adjusted the towel on her head before putting on a loose white t-shirt and pastel pink skinny jeans. She stood up and walked over to her closet, retrieving a pair of white canvas shoes. Staring at herself in the mirror, she couldn't help but notice how bright her clothes were. Violet shrugged it off and swiped the mascara off dresser. The brunette brushed it through her lashes and took the spending card that was formerly next to it. She stuffed it inside her small, beige bag and tossed in her phone and extra Hi-Chew from the plane ride. It was mango flavored.
The girl cast away the towels and brushed her hair, which was slightly damp, but not enough to soak her clothing. She hated when that happened. The bag slung over one shoulder, Violet made her way downstairs and out the door. Instantly, the ocean breeze entered her nostrils and the salty smell reminded her of her hometown. Maybe this place isn't so different. It took her a few minutes, but she finally arrived at Mia's house. She rang the doorbell, hoping that no one she didn't know yet answers the door.
Lighten up, love.
Sorry. It's just that I'm not used to this. The whole 'leaving everything behind' thing is a bit new to me.
No, I was kidding
Oh, okay.
