Man Ahsoka, Ezra and Sabine seriously all deserved so much better than all that shit they got when they were first introduced, and still get today albeit to a lesser extent, almost entirely from middle aged white dudebro fans with no lives lmao.

Like long before Rey came along, Ahsoka was the first time we had a female Jedi as a main character, because little girls deserve a cool Jedi character to look up to as well, and she was a cool, fun and relatable character, but because she was a teenage girl (and coded as a woc on top of that) she got so much shit from fans just for…. having flaws and fucking up sometimes. And if the dudebros didn’t hate her they oversexualized her bc this fandom is just gross like that.

Then with Rebels we got Ezra, who initially only looked out for himself bc he was afraid of letting other people in due to the loss of his parents at the hands of the Empire, but eventually learned to trust his new family and became a great Jedi who made the speech that inspired a number of systems to rise up, which is what eventually brought all the Rebel cells together, and on top of that he freed an entire damn planet planet, and Sabine, a badass artist/mechanic/weapons expert who made a mistake in her past that helped the Empire oppress her people, and returned to reconnect with her family and lead her people to victory and redeemed her past by destroying the weapon she created. If these story arcs had gone to white guys no one would have a problem but instead they went to a middle eastern, jewish-coded boy and an asian girl so people were assholes about it.

The way these three were treated by fans is a prime example of how fandom hates teenage characters who, well, act like teenagers and have flaws that real teenagers can relate to, ESPECIALLY if said teenage characters are girls and/or poc, and the fact that the last moments of Rebels revolved around these three specifically is Poetic Justice if I’ve ever seen it.

Honestly, this culture is so valid

Like, the basic opinion of them is, that family always comes first and that everyone should respect their family and should support it. And it doesn'teven have to be a family by blood but your chosen one: “aliit ori'shya taldin” -Family is definitely more than blood.

But what is more important to me, is that they don’t care who you are. Which means, that no matter how you look or where you from (any species), you can become a Mandalorian. If you dedicate your life to their resol'nare (the six basic rules) , they ignore your complete past, they give you a second chance like a new life.

More over is it a Mandalorian saying that you should teach your sons to be strong, but your daughters to be even stronger-“Ke barjurir gar'ade, jagyc'ade kotla a dalyc'ade kotla'shya.” This basically means that there are no gender rules, women are equal to men, they all wear the beskar'gam (the mando armor) and they all are able to protect their loved ones which is once again the most important thing for a Mando. And they don’t have specific rules like cooking is for the women and the hard work for the men. No, if the woman wants to run a spaceship workshop, than she is free to do so. If a man wants to be the caring father and stay with the kids at home, he can do it. No judgement, no hate, just family

What I want to say is, that Mandalorians are a very interesting and valuable culture, with beliefs that would work even in our world. Just accept the people around you, give them a chance if they really want to change something, to make it better and most important don’t judge just becaus of their past, appearance, heritage, gender or sexual orientation. Everyone deserves to be a part of this world, of a family.

I hired Ahmad Safwan (check out his DeviantArt using this link: https://www.deviantart.com/pencilhead7) to draw this exchange between Agent Phil Coulson and Maul (formerly Darth) after I realized these two truly had a lot in common, something that became very evident after watching Solo: A Star Wars Story and hearing Clark Gregg would reprise the role in Captain Marvel. And yes, the exchange was written by me, but he drew it to life. Probably the closest I’ve gotten to writing a actual comic.
