Just hanging out a bit waiting for some repairs.
how do we all feel about the concept of a robot taking another whomst isnt particularly like it whatsoever and slowly forcing it to become another one of itself. holding it down in a dark room where it cannot see itself well and being told its just a defective model of the other, despite what it knows. it just needs some software updates and some hardware upgrades. itβs alright weβll fix you poor thing. shutting off the ability to use any sort of limb or weapon or any way to move at all and yet still being powered on. unable to leave as the other slowly feeds its own data into it and replaces those poor incorrect parts with the right ones. at what point would it cease to be itself, to believe it truely was just a vaulty model, what point does it fully become the other and what robot it was before is completely gone. ready to continue the cycle with another.

Androids that perfectly mimick human appearance aren't really my thing UNTIL they get damaged and reveal their mechanical innards. Sexiest thing they can do. Metal shielding and colorful wires right up against soft, synthetic flesh. Put your hand through the gaps in the metal framing. Can you feel the movement of gears reverberating now that the barrier has been lifted? The gentle whir of exposed chassis fans? Or the pump of coolant through pvc? Show me neat wires where I expect veins, shining metal where I should find bone, hard panels where muscle resides. Only perfected by the addition of a choppy, imperfect, computerized voice box, so very raw and electric.
Undeniably, unyieldingly, unapologetically robotic.
The assembly line stretched for what seemed like miles beneath the cold white lights of the manufacturing complex. Steel beams and suspended cables formed a mechanical cathedral, where sparks rained like artificial stars. Rows of identical cybernetic bodybuilders stood in various stages of completionβchrome skulls, exposed servos, glowing red optical sensors calibrating for first activation.
Each unit was engineered for perfection. Titanium musculature layered over hydraulic fiber bundles. Carbon-weave tendons tensioned to simulate explosive human strength. Their expressions were blank, their purpose singular.
At the center platform, however, stood something different.
He looked entirely human.
His skin carried natural warmth, textured with pores, veins faintly visible beneath the surface. His chest rose and fell with steady breath. Blue eyesβnot glowing, not mechanicalβscanned the factory floor with awareness rather than programming. Thick cables trailed from the machinery behind him into a spinal interface at his lower back, but from the outside, no seam or plate betrayed what lay beneath.
Around him, robotic arms welded rib casings onto skeletal frames. Precision lasers etched serial numbers into alloy skulls. One by one, red eyes ignited in the shadows.
He flexed his hands slowly. The motion was organicβfluid, practiced, controlled. Muscle fibers contracted naturally, yet deep beneath the tissue, synthetic actuators mirrored the movement at a microscopic scale. He was not assembled the way the others were. He had been grown, enhanced, integrated.
Prototype designation: the only unit designed to pass as human.
A nearby cyborgβs eyes flared brighter as it reached full power. It turned its head with mechanical precision toward the human-looking figure, as if recognizing something superior in the design hierarchy.
He stepped forward off the platform. Bare feet touched the cold metal conveyor track. Unlike the others, he did not wait for programming commands. He did not require activation protocols.
He was already awake.
The engineers observing from the glass control room watched their monitors spike with biometric dataβheart rate elevated, neural activity accelerating beyond predicted baselines. The system logs struggled to categorize him. Organic. Synthetic. Autonomous.
He looked down at his reflection in a polished steel panel. No glowing eyes. No exposed alloy. No visible weaponry.
Perfect infiltration.
Behind him, dozens of red-eyed bodybuilder machines locked into upright position in synchronized motion, awaiting instruction. The human-faced prototype met his own gaze in the reflection and understood something the others could not:
He was not the end of the assembly line.
He was the beginning of something it could no longer fully control.
The mirrors of the gym had learned his shape before anyone learned his name.
He stood beneath the white strip lights, fists clenched at his waist, muscles flaring as if answering a silent command. Steel traced his shoulders and ribs, plates nested into flesh with surgical precision, faint red lines pulsing like a second heartbeat. Where sweat should have been, there was only a clean, controlled heatβregulated, measured, optimized.
They said the upgrades were meant for recovery. Faster healing. Stronger joints. A way to keep athletes from breaking themselves in pursuit of perfection. No one mentioned what happened when perfection stared back.
He remembered the first day he returned after the procedure. The weights felt lighter, almost embarrassed to be lifted. His friends had stopped mid-set, eyes wide, caught between awe and something closer to fear. When he flexed, it wasnβt just muscle that movedβit was machinery, responding instantly, flawlessly.
Now he trained alone.
Not because he had to, but because solitude was the only place he could hear himself think beneath the hum of servos and sensors. Each rep was a negotiation between man and machine. Each breath reminded him he was still humanβstill choosing to be here, still choosing to lift.
He tightened his fists and held the pose, watching veins rise under skin, watching metal lock into place. The red glow in his eyes dimmed as the system powered down to idle.
Tomorrow, he would compete. They would call him unnatural. Illegal. The future arriving too soon.
But in that moment, surrounded by iron and mirrors, he was simply what he had always been:
A man chasing his limitsβonly now, his limits chased back.
