Stewart turns a round, a small smile adorns his lips. Greg looks over and raises a judgmental eyebrow.
āReally? The dog walker?ā
āI have no idea what youāre inferring.ā
āItās written all over your face!ā
āI just think heās very good with animals, or many dog walkers have that skill.ā
āYou only think that because he stopped Rex from attacking you.ā
āWell now the dogs are gone I can get on with some work.ā
āYeah, work. Thatās absolutely what youāre going to skulk off to do.ā
Greg sneers with a grin, Stewart splutters.
āI would never do that!ā
āPerhaps not on company time.ā
āOh and when is that for me exactly?ā
āIāve got a long list of jobs to do, starting with cleaning out the dogās rooms, so if youāll excuse me.ā
He goes to walk away when Greg clicks his finger at him. An awful habit Stewart wishes he would t do. He turns on his heel to see Greg looking at him with amusement.
āDo you think werewolves are real?ā
Stewart furrows his brow. Where the hell did that come from?
āNo, donāt be ridiculous. Itās just a myth.ā
Greg seemingly ignores his answer.
āDid Hades do that then?ā
He points to Stewartās arm. Stewart shakes his head, a bout of confidence waves over him.
āNo it was a wolf actually.ā
āWhy are you proud of that?ā
āBecauseā¦I was hunting last night, after finishing here, and there was a deer, I was going to feed from it when this huge wolf attacked me. I managed to get through to it, I used actual powers to get it to stop attacking me!ā
Stewart couldnāt help but smile even in disbelief of himself.
āAnd it didnāt finish you off?ā
Greg stares at him, quietly seething.
āI see. Well, get to work then.ā
Stewart turns and heads down the hall to where dogs rooms are. Not export and bleak or outside like some hunting breeds are kept in. No, the dogs had their own rooms in the old Victorian house. He started with Rexās room first, tidying the toys heād got him, cleaning up any spilled water and refreshing it too.
He filled the food bowl, making sure to put a little extra in as no one was looking, despite how the small beast dislikes him, he canāt help but feel sorry for it.
Next is the setterās room. Plutoās bed was a bit of a mess so he tidied that up first, then Orcusā and the toys too. He filled the water, then the food, making sure they have extra then it was Hades room.
He stepped inside and looked around. Sighing as he tidied up. He straightened the bed, filled the food and water and picked up the toy which hades has kept since he was a pup. He put it in Hadesā bed and stepped out of the room.
The other jobs followed, cleaning the garden, picking up any waste or fallen leaves, he then heads back inside to get the largest room ready for the eveningās activities. He fills the drinks, cleans the glasses and tidies the bar.
By the time heās almost finished his first set of jobs, Geoffrey comes home.
āYouāve actually done quite well, makes a change.ā
Stewart nods and continues to work.
āDavid has taken them out as per your request.ā
āAnd he hasnāt brought them back early?ā
āNo, but he should be due back shortly.ā
Geoffrey looks around, as though heās sniffing.
Greg says as he walks by.
Greg and Geoffrey exchange a look. Greg speaks up.
āItās the dog walker. Itās his blood you can smell.ā
Geoffrey looks at a confused street and back to Greg, having a silent conversation without Stewartās involvement.
āMakes sense. New to the house. Will have to see how this pans out.ā
Stewart shrugs and goes to continue his work. By the time David comes back, itās Geoffrey who answers the door to him.
He looks at the dogs as they sit obediently.
āOne moment, Stewart!ā
Stewart comes from the left of the building and up to the door, he smiles a little at David, but Davidās expression has changed since earlier. He looks to the dogs instead.
Hades growls lowly at him. Stewart looks a little nervous around them and looks at Geoffrey.
The dogs walk in, past Stewart and off to their rooms.
āIāve had them trained well. Now, thank you for your work. Theyāve been well exercised, ready for a hunt later, Iām sure. Stewart, pay the man.ā
Stewart nods and goes to get the money.
āĀ£300 should suffice for 2 hours work I trust? It covers insurance and so on?ā
He has no expression as he looks at Davidās shocked face.
āShould you continue to do well, I shall continue to pay you just as handsomely.ā
Stewart comes back and hands David the money.
āArrange the next visit, Stewart. good day, David.ā
He turns and smiles slyly at Greg as he passes him, making sure to keep his back to David as he leaves.
āWe need to talk, Lord Roland.ā
Greg says, a little too formally as the walk to the study.
Stewart tries not to show the concern, as Greg only calls him that on an important matter, he gets a diary.
āWhat day is good for you?ā
