D&D AU
Stewart lay on the bed with his head on the pillow and his arm under his head while he held the phone in his other hand. He let his t shirt rise above his midriff and didnāt bother to smooth it down, as he let the cool air brush over the faint hairs of his abdomen.
He sat up a little and crossed his legs as he read what Guy had to say. It was a coincidence. Could happen in any game really.
He blushes as guy flirts.
S: I bet you could have too, you really know how to take charge of a situationā¦š
He sends the text off and shuffles back so heās sat up against the headboard. Heās beginning to feel slightly more awake, slightly more distracted. He sets the phone down only for it to buzz again immediately. He grins to himself and picks it up only to find itās not from who he wants it to be.
Text to Stewart: Why are you ignoring me?
His heart skips a beat and he check to make sure that each message between him and Guy, him and Jay and himself and Greg are completely separate, his heart pounds as it does. He even checks the last time David text him, a week agoā¦fortunately no mistakes.
He ignores Gregās message and decides to focus on the new one from Guy.
He sighs softly but a smile adorns his lips at the sweet gesture.
S: Seems silly really. Ironic too. My dice were playing up, and something happened just. For the game that caused me to be upset. And I had no reason to. I was trying really hard not to let it upset me, but the poor rolls werenāt helping. I kinda just wished the fight had finished my character off so I could bow out gracefully. I felt like I brought the whole mood down, and I was trying really hard not to let my own feels affect the table. I just feel really bad about it. I only have myself to blame. Itās not their fault at all.
He breathes deeply. It felt good to get it off his chest, but he still feels guilty about it.
S: Sorry, I didnāt mean to offload on you. It didnāt help that my ex was texting too, but I ignored that.
@visionarypreist-david
David sits up a bit more surprised at S's candor. And it truly did sound like he really didn't enjoy his time at d&d at all. Something bad happening to upset him before, bad rolls, and a near character death.
Well David had already fixed those last two issues for Stewart in person, but at least then he didn't have something else on top of it. S was dealing with something far more serious.
Guy: Good. Screw him, not in that way you know what I mean. Block and ignore your ex.
Guy: If I was there with you... I'd suggest we put your dice in jail and roll with new ones. If you didn't have spares I'd give you mine. No reason some bits of plastic should ruin your night.
He always imagined S to play at someone's house. Somewhere far cozier and more intimate more connected than a random table at a game store. New dice wouldn't be as readily available.
Guy: I'd reassure you that you're not to blame. That everyone has bad days, and that having your own emotions isn't ruining it for anybody based on how you described it.
Guy: You didn't make your problems anyone else's problem. Like an angsty brooding poorly crafted dnd character who goes off to the corner to silk in a black cloak. You still played. You still tried to have fun. Sometimes things that should feel fun don't for some reason.
Guy: I'd tell you you're not to blame. I'd hold you close, let you lean against my side, stroke your hair, and it would be our secret. Their game would be unaffected. Maybe if you truly feel like you needed a break from the table for mental health I'd whisk you away and we'd join back next time. Then I'd take you out for comfort food or stay in and we could talk about what happened before the game.
Guy: What happened?
Stewartās eyebrows raised to his hairline. The similarities were uncanny. He sits up on the bed and smoothes his clothes down, he pulls a throw around his shoulders and crosses his legs, seeking some form of self comfort.
He starts to feel daunted by the kind words, and tears prick in his eyes and his throat tightens a little, itās not that he feels bad, but Guy is being so nice. Heās just overcome with a wave of emotion.
He sniffles and smiles as he wipes his eyes. Heās tries to shake it off as he reads the text. But the next line shocks him.
The uncanny feeling comes back. Thatās exactly what David said.
He tries to rationalise it, maybe itās just a trait of a soft dom? If something bad lock them away?
āThatās ridiculous Stewart oh my god itās just a coincidence.ā
He mutters to himself and pulls the throw around him tighter.
S: Thanks Guy. Seriously that means a lot. I just donāt like to bring too much attention to myself, especially when I was invited in to the game. I hadnāt known these players for long and they were kind enough to accept me in.
Stewart reads the message over and over again.
āYouāre too good to be true.ā
He whispered to himself and closed his eyes as he imagines what it might be like to be pulled into Davidās side and have his hair stroked and be looked after, and treated. As he imagines this the vision of a blurred figure turns in to one that looks astonishingly like David.
S: Thatās so kind. That sounds incredible if Iām honest.
He pauses and blushes at the thought. Heās worried what David might think of him.
S: Iām going to be complyhonest. And I understand if this means you donāt want to talk to me anymore.
S: I have a crush on someone, this just crush though, and I love talking with you and I know I feel more for you than him, but, and I donāt know why, I found out heās now talking with someone and, oh god I sound insufferable, but it upset me that before I met you, I could have told him how I feel.
Stewart sends the message and tosses the phone on the bed. Why couldnāt he just lie? Now Guy will hate him and Davidās not interested! This is a mess and heās ruined everything.
