Blackwater Run don't show up on most maps these days.
Road's still there, though. A windin' thing that crawls up through the hills where the fog settles low 'tween the trees and the radio turns to fuzz. Folks 'round these parts say the town's been sittin' in the mountains longer'n anybody can rightly remember. Some folk say it was built right on a coal seam. Others say somethin' older was already there long before the coal trucks ever came rumblin' through.
Truth is, though, Blackwater's the kinda place that likes t'keep their secrets buried real deep. People still live there, somehow. Generations of'em. Old families with names everybody knows. Church pews worn smooth from Sunday mornin's and Wednesday evenin's spent learnin' the Word. Rusted mine entrances chained shut, but still hummin' rather strange at night. Dogs barkin' at nothin' out in the tree line. Folks vanish every now 'n then too. Hikers, drifters, travelers who took the wrong backroad through the mountains and never quite found their way back out.
And the locals? Well... most'll smile polite 'n tell 'ya nothin's wrong here at all.
Blackwater Run is a new 21+ Appalachian folk horror discord roleplay centered around character-driven storytelling, folklore, mystery, and slow-burn supernatural horror. Inspiration is drawn from Appalachian legends, southern gothic horror, old mining towns, cryptids, religious horror, and of course... that eerie feelin' that the mountains themselves might be watchin'.
