Making of Yearn

After hundreds of video calls discussing initial ideas, feedbacks received we ended up deciding on the transition from hunger to being full and our storyboard after which everybody started getting into their character of flavor.

I named mine glace, my character demanded me to be rolled in sweetness. Thereafter I started visualizing my look which was an amalgamation of costume, makeup and headgear. I started brainstorming the silhouette, color, material to be used for the headgear and ideated some.

Below are some the sketches-

After finalizing, I went ahead and started collecting materials from my home. I used yarns to create fur balls and put them in sticks, dyed cotton for colored balls I couldn’t create from yarn because of access to limited resources and brought everything together in a headband. I was so engrossed in the making part of it and trying to contemplate the limited resources to best use that I completely forgot to document the process but here is the final outcome.

SYMMETRY

The wood carving in chair as well as the chair as a whole appears quite symmetrical.

FIGURE GROUND

Captured this wall where the center appears somewhat like a part of tesla logo

CLOSURE

Although there is break in car because of balcony I perceive the car continuing in a smooth pattern.

Took this picture in godown, the fan causes break in first layer of jaal and the first layer causes break in second layer of jaal but to eyes they continue seamlessly.

GESTALT

After the session where we were introduced to gestalt principles and having understanding about the same I started finding them in and around my home. My surroundings haven’t been the same since I’ve learnt about it, I’ve started seeing it in my everyday life. Below are some of the images I captured.

PROXIMITY

This is while sauteing vegetables and sesame seeds I perceived different vegetable as a unified group.

COLOUR WHEEL

Tried my hands on color wheel, didn’t have purple color so mixed red and blue poster colors but couldn’t achieve desirable purple. Alas! had to go with it.
