A Friday In Phoenix

We bump shoulders with many other people; they are a collective of flesh and blood, insecurities, hopes and aspirations. Every time we cross paths, we collide with another story, another outlook, another lineage, a living, breathing example of someone's hopes and dreams, faith and the summation of the past. People.

During the beginning of October festivities, I took to the streets on a Friday night, disregarded thoughts of perfect lighting, focus and composition and captured visuals of a few people in passing.

I'm into photography and wanted to know if one where to send some portfolios and pieces of my work,can i go on to shoot and work for magazines and such and pretty much make a living off of it ?

Where can you send them? Not entirely sure really. Making a living off of your work isn’t going to be easy but I certainly believe if you’re committed enough, you can pull it off.

I would say find your local modeling agency, send in your portfolio and they will likely send you models for what are called “test shoots”, from there if they like what you shoot with those models on a trade basis, they may make you a trusted photog and send in applicant models and new people to shoot with you for paid headshots ect.

Manual Focus

My biggest concern on any shoot is control. I want full control of all settings, lighting, and mood, granted I cannot make the model do exactly what I want but it’s my personal style to let them flow and be creative. One of the key settings for me is focus, because I can chose what you see in the same way I saw it.

This image was shot fully manual, down to the focus, with a tac sharp lens but I insist on sometimes missing what would normally be considered a focus point. Her eyes are barely sharp, her clothes and hair dead on. It’s not the best practice but hell, I think it builds character and life in every frame.
