The outside world was not like mother had told her. If there were monsters, they were hidden well. Mostly Rapunzel just sawβ¦ people. So, so, so many people. And so many rules that everyone seemingly knew about and Rapunzel just didnβt.
Well, she could do this. She got this! She could order herself a coffee.
Someday.
(Maybe Mother knew best, after all.)
She let out a little eep sound as someone bumped into her, quickly remembering to pull up her braided hair so people wouldnβt stumble over it. She lifted her hand to try and catch someoneβs attention, but it wasnβt working.
βAhem, uhm, s-sir,β she tried, only to be completely ignored again. A small frown was starting to form on her face, her eyebrow twitching.
Vitani was sat in the back of the coffee shop with her chair pushed into the corner so she had a view of the entire room. There were no missions or targets today which meant Vitani was free to relax. Today that meant splurging on a very hot and very sweet coffee that was worth more than most of her meals.Β
Savouring each sip, Vitani almost missed the blonde woman who had wandered in to the coffee shop. She didnβt bother hiding her smirk as a women brushed past Blondie with all the finesse of a hippo - this girl did not belong here. Most people who frequented this end of the ring were either gang members or scum. Little miss Blondie was going to get eaten alive.Β
Reaching for her cup, Vitani frowned as it lifted easily; if only they had bottomless versions of all their drinks. She drained the last sugary dregs of her coffee and stood, tossing the paper cup in the nearest bin. Sparing one last glance at the girl, Vitani wasnβt surprised to see a few men had gotten in line behind her and were just about to begin crowding her.Β
A deep sigh tore from her chest - she didnβt even know this girl. What did she care if something happened? If she wasnβt smart enough to survive on her own then maybe this would teach her. Thatβs what Vitani wanted to say but even as that last thought crossed her mind, her feet had already taken her halfway across the room until she was slinging an arm around the blondeβs shoulders.Β
βHavenβt you ordered yet? Iβve been waiting here forΒ so long, I finished my coffee ages ago.β Slamming her skeletal hand on the counter, Vitani watched as the barista flinched before turning to face them.Β βCan we get some fucking service over here?β
