“Girl, whenever you’re ready, I am,” Gen said with a little smile, before reaching out and taking her hand as Spencer opened up to her about what was going on in the past couple of months. Her face morphed into one of deep concern as Spencer kept talking, lips pressing together before speaking again, “First of all, no matter what’s happening with me, you can tell me. It sounds like Cam had it under control, but there’s no such thing as having too many people in your corner. And I want to be in your corner, bitch. No matter what’s going on. And I know you wouldn’t. I trust you,” she gave her hand a little squeeze, before narrowing her eyes, tone shifting to stern, “But, really, tell me these things.” She noticed she didn’t mention Mateo, though.
Spencer returns the squeeze, pretending her eyes aren’t just a little teary when Gen reassures her that she needs and wants to know these things. “I want you in my corner too, bitch. And I promise, next time I’m losing my goddamn mind you will be the first to know. But, you know, in my optimal future I won’t lose my goddamn mind again, so here’s hoping.” She lets her head fall back onto the couch. “Also, I think Mateo and I broke up. But I don’t know if that’s what he meant when he said he needed time, or if he meant he actually needed time and then he wanted to keep trying.”
