( cis woman | she/her | emily alyn lind ) —— isn’t that VIVIANE ALLAIRE? yeah that is them, outside the three broomsticks! they used to be in SLYTHERIN but apparently they now work as a SOCIALITE. sybill once said that they reminded her of clenched fists, forcing a smile through gritted teeth, eloquent speech, expensive jewelry, the clink of champagne glasses, the urge to scream, a desperation for approval - you will never be enough which seems about right. anyway i’ve heard they’re still a bit AMBITIOUS, CONTROLLING and SPITEFUL, they’re TWENTY now but some things never change! i wonder how being a PUREBLOOD is affecting them after school, especially now they’re a DEATH EATER? i guess only time will tell… —— [ malu : gmt : 21 : she/her ]
viviane should have been perfect, the kind of daughter most families would love to have. at the very least she should have been enough. but nothing ever was. there is a weight that comes with being the second daughter without a son in sight in some families, a weight that becomes almost like the burden atlas had to bear when you’re the second daughter of a second wife. the fifth failure she didn’t even have her own time in the spotlight, more siblings on the way just a year after she was. a set of twins that not only brought the long awaited son but also a menace. she should’ve been perfect. she should’ve been enough. but viviane allaire never was. so she only worked harder to be so.

to anyone else, viviane would have been the perfect daughter. she was eloquent, well-read, poised. she did anything her parents asked of her. she took care of her appearance; always presentable. she made sure to entertain the guests at every event hosted by the allaires, she laughed at their stupid jokes (though she rolled her eyes as soon as she turned her back on them) and she made sure to make a good impression. she had perfect grades, her inner circle consisted of those who were worthy. yet no matter what she did, it was never enough. to the allaires, viviane was yet another daughter; the child born before their long awaited heir, éric.
viviane resented how everything came so easy to her little brother. he was effortlessly perfect; he could get away with anything. it was when viviane learned that life simply wasn’t fair.
she resented ellie as well; her little sister was wild and untameable. why did she have to make things so complicated? there were rules, certain standarts in their world and society, and ellie couldn’t live up to any of them. it seemed like bad behaviour was rewarded, after all. henri was too busy dealing with his problem daughter to pay any mind to viviane - after all, he could always count on her. viviane would always be there for her parents, no matter what. why would they bother to put in any extra effort with her, when the girl was always there anyway? it didn’t matter.
at hogwarts, viviane continued to be the perfect daughter she strived to be. her grades were perfect, she joined clubs, she organized events. it was right there where she decided to embrace some of her own power. quite the school cliché, but vivian enjoyed being in charge of the people around her in subtle ways, earning herself the position of the “queen bee”. she liked being in control. she liked having power, as meaningless as it was. she liked feeling like someone important.
although charming and well-spoken (when it matters, that is), viviane doesn’t let people get close easily. she’s selfish and has impossible standarts that most people fail to live up to. she’s cold, yes, but beneath all that she does care. it’s just, she doesn’t it in the right way. as she strives for perfection and all that, viviane self-sabotages a lot without intending to do so. she’s bitter and angry, though she could never show it in the same way as ellie does.
a few days after her graduation, viviane took the dark mark - just like her mother intended. it doesn’t matter if that’s what she wants to do or not. after all, any career aspirations are out of the question. she must be there for her family. she must prove herself worthy. it might make her miserable, but it’ll all be worth it in the end, right? do they even need her? a part of viviane isn’t so sure anymore. how long could she keep this up?
wanted connections: best friend, frenemies, enemies, exes, past flings, on and off relationship, bad influence, good influence, rival, betrothed, anything we could think of!
viviane was usually a good listener - when she forced herself to be, that is. however, right now it was way too early in the morning and although she appeared to be focused on both the book in front of her and the conversation, she was rather lost in her thoughts, not in the mood for company. “that’s the worst story i’ve ever heard.” she remarked. “you could’ve at least attempted to make it plausible.”
