loki / @lokkur !
as radiant as ever, she stood before him.
he wasn’t SURE if she’d made it through to the other side of the battle— after all, he’d spent a CONSIDERABLE amount of time playing dead. it was HARD to keep up with who had survived and who hadn’t under such circumstances. he finds it hard not to gaze upon her form, to check for any sign of damage—- or at least that’s what he tells himself.
when she questions him, he wants to tell her that he dreamt of her all of the nights he was hiding away on dead planets, nothing but his will to live and terror keeping him alive. he wants to tell her he dreamt of the valkyrie, those fierce protectors, beautiful as they were deadly with their shiny hair and swords—-
but he realizes quickly that she has not SEEN that side of him, nor would he intend for her to. so he slips into character and grins lewdly, brows raising at her. “ something delicious. “
NO, SHE DEFINITELY HADN’T MISSED HIM. not a hair on his greasy head, not his eery grace behind every small movement, not his attempts at masking his thoughts with trickery, deceit, manipulative little slights of hand. most of all, she doesn’t miss how difficult he has always proven to read for nearly everyone but she. she, who sees SOMETHING thoughtful flicker through his expression before every lewd joke.
the same something she recalls seeing that same day he discovered her identity, breathed valkyrie like a prayer.
“ because you’d like a taste of the THRONE ? ” eyes roll up & away, though her stance remains guarded, never quite relaxed around this particular son of odin. “ i trust thor already updated you on who’s in charge now. one weasely step out of line, & i’ll send you right back to your sister. UNDERSTAND, lackey ? ”
